mid-month event

With Crescentview’s newest citizens settling nicely, the Goddess has summoned everyone back to Town Square for another round of announcements. This time, her summons comes to you in the form of a hand-written note. If you happen to be out working in your field, one of her fairies will hand it directly to you, looking a little more sprightly than they did the first time you saw them. Otherwise, expect to find her request/demand to meet up in Town Square in your mailbox.

introducing: the memo board

The Memo Board is now available in Town Square. You may post messages here to your fellow neighbors, send out requests for assistance on the farm, or even solicit local singles for hot dates! Post whatever you like whenever you like. You can even post messages to the board anonymously if you so desire. The Memo Board is available here.

But wait, there’s more! The Goddess has given everyone a fun relationship-building exercise. How well do you know your neighbors? Can you identify them based on their writing alone?

By December 22nd - 12:00pm EST, please have your character submit an anonymous message to be posted to the Memo Board. Their message can be about anything they’d like and there is no length requirement or restrictions. After submissions have been received, characters will be given an opportunity to review everyone’s messages and guess which character wrote which memo. Answers will be revealed on December 29th - 12:00pm EST. A single correct guess will earn you a horse while each additional correct guess will net you a vegetable, flower, or mushroom spore seed bag of your choice. Good luck and have fun!

it's time to dance!

Every Spring 15th, the annual Flower Dance is held in Town Square. Villagers gather to dance with one another and celebrate the upcoming harvest and offer their prayers to the Goddess. Folks are encouraged to dance not just with those they fancy, but their fellow neighbors as a way to express gratitude and appreciation for the friendship and company they provide.

ICly, the dance takes place on Spring 15th and goes from 9am to 9pm.

In addition to the tasks currently available on the Task Board, a handful of new additions have been added. You may continue to work on tasks from the previous event in addition to these new tasks, but please note that tasks may only be completed within the month they are assigned. Summer starts next month, so please have all of your tasks completed and submitted by then!

The new additions are as follows:

1. Post a notice on the Memo Board. Stick up an anonymous memo and earn a single chicken or rabbit to add to your coop. You may post as many notices as you like, but you will only redeem the reward once.

2. Correctly guess who posted a memo. Discuss these anonymous notes with one another and guess who may be the author. Between December 22nd and December 29th, submit your IC votes (link coming on the 22nd) and if you guess correctly, even just once, you will get a horse! You may guess as many times as you like, but you may only redeem this reward once.

3. Partake in the Flower Dance. Pick a partner for a round of dancing, pray to the Goddess, or just celebrate the good times! For every person that you celebrate the event with, you will receive a random bag of seeds of fruits, vegetables, flowers, or mushroom spores. This task can be completed 5 times.

4. Send a letter to your neighbor. This requires you to have acquired the stationary set from the first event, so if you haven't claimed it yet, get to it! You can post letters directly on the main community or set up an inbox in your journal to send and receive hand-written letters. For each letter that you send, you will get a random gacha item. This task can be completed 3 times.

5. Harvest your crops. On the 14th, you'd be surprised to find that all of your crops are now ready for picking - even if you've only planted them the day before. The crops look bright, flavourful, and ready to be picked, so eat them, trade them, sell them, whatever! For every interaction that you have involving the bountiful harvest, you will receive a new set of clothes. This task can be completed 3 times.

[ He's not wrong when he says her expression is too serious, too melancholy for such a festive event. She's absolutely wallflower-ing it up, though it's hard to stay solemn for too long in the presence of someone as upbeat as Rider is. ]

[ She'll try her best to put one on now, though it's not too hard now that she's around a comrade. ]

Uh...is this better?

[ he seems kind of relieved when she does try on a more light-hearted expression. it's a kind gesture, he thinks, especially when he feels like he practically forced it out of her, but her good-naturedness gets an easy smile in return. ] That's great! As I thought, a smile definitely suits you.

[ with this, he pretends to think deeply about his next words, when in reality, they were pretty much set from the start. especially, when he first called out to her. ] Now that that's settled, don't you think there's something else for us to do?

Oh, you're...you're too nice, Rider.

[ She doesn't know how praiseworthy her smile is, but he seems to be content, so she won't protest. She watches as he thinks, and she's quiet as he does, curious about what'll follow his (seemingly) deeper thoughts. His question also has her wondering what he's referring to, but given that they're near the dance floor – ]

...You don't mean... You'd really like to dance with me?

[ "nice." it's kind of a different phrase than he used to.

not that he wasn't used to being attributed to kindness to some degree as a hero, but being called "nice" felt more casual. more intimate, maybe? but, whatever the thought is, seems to kind of slip his mind, especially when he sees her reaction, he can't help but give a small, muted laugh. ]

That's exactly it. It helps that you seem to read my mind so well.

[ that said, he extends a hand out to her.

he's actually not super used to this, but he seems confident anyway. ]

Ah, do I? I just...

[ It was just a lucky guess. She smiles, a little wider than usual, when he extends his hand. Achilles is a gentleman, and she can't sense that he believes otherwise when she places her hand in his.

She allows him to lead her to the dance floor. ]

I've had a handful of dances before this, so I have a little bit of an idea of what I'm doing...but my guess is you're more experienced than I am?

[ at her inquiry, he can't help but smile. ] It's not like I don't have any experience, but I probably know war a lot better than dancing.

[ he admits pretty easily all things considered, but that doesn't stop him from analyzing everyone else's steps and stance. almost mirroring, he comes in closer, placing a gentle hand around her waist. ]

But, I think I can figure it out. [ he leans in closer, as if to make sure his voice travels over the sound of the music. ] What do you think?

War...

[ That catches her by surprise, but she repeats it under her breath, because war isn't a subject to touch upon during a dance, is it? Well, if he wants to, she won't say no. She's curious. But for now, it feels like they should just enjoy themselves. ]

But...yes, that sounds good. I appreciate that we're starting on the same page, in a way.

[ She'll go ahead and take her first few steps to start, then. ]

I'll do my best to not step on your shoes...

[ ah, he catches onto her words and her initial shock, and he kind of curses himself for careless he was. this probably wasn't the time for war stories, huh? he gives a sheepish smile at the realization, before easing into his usual easygoing expression. ]

Even if you did, I think I could handle it. I'm pretty durable.

[ but, he guesses he should probably be helping her not to? that said, he follows in her steps, before catching onto the rhythm of the song. it actually isn't as hard as he thought. ] Ah, but I should probably be the one to try and not step on your toes, huh?

Heh, it's okay if you do, I think? Mistakes happen! But I think you'll be fine!

[ Loving herself is a foreign concept, don't worry about it.

Her movements become a little more comfortable and fluid as they go along. She's still making it a point to keep her eyes on their feet and stay cautious about her movements. The music goes on at a steady tempo, and after a few quiet moments, she finally looks up at Achilles again. ]

How have you been enjoying yourself, Rider? I-if you'd like dinner again sometime, please stop by...!

[ it's kind of cute to see her being so conscious of where her feet are placed. to be honest, if she stepped on his feet, he genuinely wouldn't have minded, but he appreciates the effort she puts in to keeping her words. ]

I have, I have great company, after all. [ he winks. but, he does mean it. he liked lucia; there was something pure and honest about her. it made him feel like he was ... more familiar to her, even if no one could probably say anything about this place was truly familiar.

... unless they grew up on a farm, he supposes. that said: ] Oh? Is it okay for you to offer that. I might seriously take you up on it, you know? After all, I made it clear, didn't I? [ dramatic pause!!! ]
