( Mishka has suspected as much. As much as Syrlya has spoken, there is a sense of finality to their relationship, and of fullness to his adventure; he has gone on to do a great many things past Trehearne, and he has greater things to do, still. Their relationship ended where it was left off.

Whether you consider him a friend, sibling, marshal, or hero... ( As much as it would break Trahearne's heart, ) I believe he is hoping to bargain for more time, knowing he may spend some of it with you. He is not resigned, like me, to his end. He has a great determination to append a further chapter to his story.
