It is definitely a culture thing for Ellis, and something that he's having a hard time wrapping is head around, but one thing is sure. ]
I feel like our definitions of gods are different. For me, they don't need to be worshipped to gain power--they already have it. It's because of that power that people worship them. But yours sounds like the opposite.
