feb event.
crisp fall weather
Heralded by cooling temperatures and the crunch of orange leaves underfoot, fall has arrived on Crescentview Isle. It’s time to break out your sweaters and scarves in preparation for the cooler days ahead.
Fall is a season rich with tradition and festivals aplenty, so head down to the Town Square to find out what all is in store for you this season. While you’re at it, take a look at the calendar for Fall 1st through 15th.
This season’s crops are eggplant, carrot, yam, spinach, and green pepper. Fall’s seasonal flowers are lamp grass, lilac, sweet pea, chrysanthemum, and petunia. As for mushrooms, porcini, enoki, and portobello spores are available for the fall.
hot! ...or pot?
Every Fall 1st, the townsfolk of Crescentview Isle get together for an island-wide feast with food, beverage, and merriment aplenty... but this banquet is a group effort.
Centralized in Town Square is a massive pot simmering with the Goddess’ special broth, and on Fall 1st, townsfolk are invited to throw an item of their choice into the pot to contribute to the stew everyone will enjoy together during the banquet the following day, Fall 2nd.
The thoughtful, rational contribution would be a vegetable, animal product or other edible item, but no one is saying you have to toss in something edible. For every item added to the pot, the flavor, scent and/or special attributes may change, so choose your addition wisely! Here is an example of how your contribution might affect the stew.
Each islander may only contribute a single item to the pot, but be warned! Throw in anything too ridiculous and the Goddess reserves the right to make you regret it for the rest of your days. OOCly, you have from February 1st to February 8th at 12pm EST to add in your contribution.
fallentine's day chocolates
Fallentine's is a local tradition in which the townsfolk gift their friends, neighbors and loved ones special chocolates to show thanks and appreciation for all the joy they bring to their life. This year, the Goddess has provided the island's farmers with her own special chocolates that have arrived in your character's mailbox on Fall 1st.
Each box contains 20 pieces of buff fairy-shaped chocolates. The notecard tucked neatly into the box recommends that you give out one piece of chocolate per person, which might not seem like much... until you see what happens when that little chocolate is consumed!
As you might expect, something special will happen upon consumption of the Goddess' special chocolates, so be warned when consuming or giving out your chocolates! OOCly, each character's chocolates boast a unique effect when consumed, but characters won't know what that effect is ICly until they start giving them out to their neighbors. The effect of each chocolate (and the chocolates themselves) were distributed via the permanent AC post for January, so if you forget what effect your character's chocolates have, you can refer back to that page.
introducing the dulces sueños resort
Thanks to the efforts of our deep-pocketed islanders, all current community projects have been fully funded! One in particular — the mysterious island — is worth noting for the special resort that occupies it.
The Dulces Sueños Resort is a new destination available to all island residents and its tropical-themed suites aren't notable just for their immaculate decor. Spending the night with another person will result in the two of you exchanging a memory with one another as you slumber. Soaking in the resort's large open air baths will allow you to feel your partner's emotions while you both occupy the water, so if you're struggling to understand one another on a deeper level, a little bath may solve that!
This resort is a new and permanent feature of Crescentview island, so feel free to stop by and visit whenever you'd like. They're open for business all year-round!
task board
The task board is located in Town Square and changes from season to season. In real time, a season is one month long. The following tasks are available from February 1st to March 1st and more tasks may be added mid-month.
Certain rewards are only available through event participation, so please keep this in mind when planning your threads. Multiple tasks may be completed within a single thread, but when turning in, please link to the individual tags in which each task was completed.
Finally, rewards are per character, not per farm, so those with housemates may want to coordinate with one another with regard to what animals you’re bringing home to your farm.
This season’s tasks are all about deepening your bonds and helping you get even closer to your fellow islanders. Some of you may already be in relationships or working your way towards one, so what better way to get to know your partner than to explore their dreams and memories? Curious? Take a look at this month’s tasks!
1. Distribute your special chocolates. Fall is the season of love and thankfulness. Share the chocolates the Goddess gave you with your friends and neighbors to receive 1 random fall crop seed. This task can be completed 10 times.
2. Express your appreciation for your neighbors. Tell your friends you care for them, give them a hug, make them a warm meal. No matter how it is you show your appreciation for the people around you, ‘tis the season to make sure they know it. Complete this task a total of 10 times for 1 random fall flower bag.
3. Go foraging. Bushes producing blueberries, blackberries and raspberries can be found in the foothills and are prime for the picking in fall, but be careful: you might get a mild case of poisoning if you don’t know what you’re looking for!
You can also pick bioluminescent mushrooms in the forest and seashells at the beach to complete this task. You will earn 2 random bags of fall mushroom spores with each submission and you may complete this task a total of 5 times.
4. Check out Dulces Sueños Resort. Travel there alone or with a friend for 1 cow, sheep, alpaca or goat of your choice. This task can be completed once and can be combined with tasks 6 and 7.
5. Contribute an item to the community pot. Throw in an item of your choice, but be warned: the Goddess might punish you if she catches you throwing in any garbage or dirty work boots. Complete this task once to receive a rabbit or chicken of your choice for your coop.
6. Share a memory with someone else. Spend the night at Dulces Sueños Resort with a friend. As you rest, you’ll exchange a single memory with the person sleeping beside you. You can complete this task to receive a Buff Fairy contract that summons a single Buff Fairy to work the farm, harvest and water crops, feed and brush animals, etc. You can complete this task a total of 3 times. That's three times the buff fairies!
7. Feel another person’s emotions. Visit the island and soak in its waters with another person. Doing so will allow you to feel what the other person is feeling. This task can be completed 3 times and each completion rewards you with a Diva Fairy contract. These fairies in their little designer heels are quite sassy, but they'll cook, clean, and do whatever work around the house that you demand of them.
local happenings
The Crescentview Times newspaper has chronicled the latest happenings around the island. A physical copy of the paper will arrive on your doorstep early in the morning on Fall 1st.
The Mines have been expanded to include more rewards and more floors to explore! To continue your mining adventures or embark on one for the first time, please visit the new permanent page for the mines.
Pirates have been spotted off the coast of Crescentview Isle in recent days. They've been circling the island in a large boat flying a tattered banner of unknown origin, but their current intentions are unknown.
A blacksmith has made their way to Crescentview and has set up shop in town! The blacksmith can process any ores and gems you've acquired in the mines and fashion them into fine jewelry in exchange for any leftover materials that come with the ores and gems provided. He can also touch up and repair any farm tools brought to him.
The annual Fall Animal Exhibition is set to take place on Fall 15th. Farmers are encouraged to enter their favorite barn or coop animal in the contest to receive accolades and unique rewards. Participation also comes with its own rewards, so don't hesitate to apply with your finest animal when the time comes!
mod notes
⬥ Welcome to our third event! We've made it to the halfway point and we couldn't be more pleased with how much everyone has engaged with and contributed to the game. Thank you all so much!
⬥ A second event post will go up in mid-Feb.
⬥ Please plot over at the Feb Plotting Post.
⬥ As a reminder, please keep all plotting on the OOC post as not everyone has Discord or Plurk.
⬥ Please submit your completed tasks at the top-level below.
⬥ Have fun!

[ While he's been adjusting to...most of his changes, some things have regrettably followed in the wake of his awakening- the hunger is one, but the sleeplessness is another. Things fresh on his mind make laying in bed peacefully a nigh impossible task, so much akin to home, he finds himself up and about at the late hours of the night when most have turned in.
You may find him at the bar near the closing hours, sitting by himself in the corner, staring off either into space or deep into his drink. He seems far more approachable then he usually would, however, despite the sunken look in his eyes. ]
≫ II. insomnia
[ Of course, eventually, hubris catches up to you.
He knows better, truly. He's always taken relative good care of himself to avoid damage or sickness, which could often spell death back home- and yet here he is, several days past the beginning of Fall, and he has maybe an hour or so of sleep under his belt. The headaches he's used to, and he can shrug off well enough, but everything else...
It's hard to get things done, Adelis finds, when your body is attempting to shut down on you. Still, he perseveres, trudging his way through the motions of tending to his fields, albeit far slower. It's only when he decides to attempt a walk to town to pick something up in an attempt to shake himself awake that the axe finally falls.
His vision is...blurry. His head is throbbing. His legs feel like lead. He has dealt with worse, and yet he finds himself wobbling to the nearest tree to drop and lean against the trunk, head drooping before he even makes it all the way down.
He won't sleep, no- the thought fills him with a cold dread, but maybe if he just closes his eyes for a moment...just one...
Good luck heading to or from town, because you might come across a fairly sickly-looking Adelis, very clearly dozing off in plain sight. ]
≫ III. nightshade
[ Foraging is, at least, an easy enough task for him- one has to get by in several ways back home, so it's nothing new. In a way, he benefits- it's a task done, and it's more supplies for the house. He's grown used to the overabundance of food here, but some habits never seem to die, no matter how much time passes.
Either way, dressed far more conservatively than usual, he's out there! The beach interests him little, so you can find Adelis around the foothills and the forest, gathering up mushrooms and berries, albeit slinking about near silently.
So silently, in fact, you might not even hear or see him until he speaks, without even casting more than a cursory glance. ]
That's poisonous. Pick it if you like, however, I certainly won't stop you.
≫ IV. wildcard
something else in mind? my plotting comment is here, detailing adelis' recent changes for his canon update, and you can contact me at

So he goes up to him with a hint of concern on his face as he tries to wave in Adelis's line of sight to tell him that there's someone here so don't get startled. Hello. ]
no subject
But there is someone there.
Grass shifts, under someone's feet. They approach, and his eyes snap open in a fit of alertness as something small, pink, and razor-edged manifests in his hand. His reaction, for all it is worth, is more sluggish than he'd like, but he still whips his head up and tenses like a cat ready to pounce before his bleary eyes finally seem to focus.
...Ah. ]
...Ellis. [ Despite himself, his voice sounds ragged, but he attempts to make himself more alert than he is as the object in his hand fizzles and disappears. He's just going to stand, forcing himself to minimize the wobble as his tired body protests. ] What the hells are you doing? Don't sneak up on people lest you're prepared for the consequences.
no subject
But also, he tries to test this out, so he signs with his hands in plain view where Adelis can see. Maybe he knows it too, assuming that subtle sign language for killing people extends to Adelis as well. ]
"You look like you're barely hanging on."
no subject
When he looks up, it's to catch a glimpse of Ellis' raised hands- which proceed to sign, which in turn earn a mildly surprised raise of the brows. There's a moment where he simply stares, gears in his sleep-deprived brain turning, before he promptly raises his own in turn. ]
<< I'm just bloody fine. >>
[ Which isn't that convincing, when the 'bloody' translates just as well to 'death'. ]
<< I've dealt with worse. It's nothing for you to concern yourself with. >>
no subject
"Just because you dealt with worse doesn't mean this isn't bad either. I'll help you a little."
[ With that, Ellis tries to slowly worm his way to stabilize Adelis's condition, whatever this is, but whether it works or not is your choice! There's no warmth, no glow, nothing visible. He doesn't have to be in physical contact with him either. ]
no subject
And then he pauses, because he feels...better? It feels like the fog is slowly lifting from him, the weight in his limbs lightening until it no longer feels like a slodge to move them. There is not perfect clarity, like one would after a long rest, but he finds himself capable of keeping himself upwards with little risk of wobbling as his body gives out.
...Huh.
Adelis stares at his hands for a moment, before his gaze flicks back up to Ellis, not quite with hostility but still with mild suspicion and bewilderment. What the fuck.
<< What is that. >> ]
no subject
[ Ellis could try to make it all the way better, but he wouldn't want Adelish to crash when he's suddenly out of range (a typical bedroom size range). ]
no subject
He can actually parse that better than he would have been able to a few minutes ago, staring at his own gloved hands with not even the slightest of shake to them. Granted, that was an extreme effect, due to his own tenacity, but...
<< I could have handled it on my own. >>
A lie, probably. But regardless, his gaze flickers up and bores into Ellis, the dark circles standing stark against the pallor of his skin.
<< But I won't forget your assistance, regardless. >>
Scales balanced and all that. ]
no subject
"Let's go. I'll walk you home."
no subject
I don't need a bloody escort, Ellis.
[ He feels a bit insulted by the suggestion, really. But there's a moment of pause, as he contemplates what he's seen so far. He doesn't really know the specifics of magic, or whatever that is, to be perfectly honest, but if he can make it to his door and at least cave away from the eyes of others...
Hm. ]
...But fine. Just this once.
no subject
...
Yeah, still a 0% chance in his head. ]

Which is why, despite nearly jumping out of his skin when he's snuck up on like that, he smiles sheepishly as his hand retreats from the plant. ]
Thanks. I... don't really know what is and isn't poisonous.
no subject
A proper check would do you far better.
[ The dark circles on his eyes seem ever darker as he steps forward, both over Gaku and his supposed spoils. ]
Pick and consume those, and the symptoms will begin with nausea, then getting rid of whatever is in your guts. Then will come the headaches and convulsions, the muscle spasms and rapid beat of your pulse.
[ He'll idly reach...and then bypass them, hand reaching further in the bush to come out the other side and return, hand now holding far more recognizable things- blueberries. ]
Learn the difference, lest nobody hear you choke out here in the woods.
no subject
Wow... that bad, huh?
[ He looks up at those blueberries. ]
But those are safe, right?
[ Yeah, he's definitely struggling out here. ]
no subject
At the question, the tone is rather blunt. ]
No, these ones will kill you rather horribly as well.
[ ...There's a beat, before he sighs. ]
...That is, if they were nightshade. [ Lmao. ] Fortunately for you, these are blueberries. A far less chance for you vomit blood over the forest floor.
no subject
It takes Gaku a second before he laughs. ]
Well, I’d be concerned if they did that! [ He smiles. ] Wanna split this bunch in half?
no subject
Adelis fixes Gaku with a rather blank look, before sighing. What the hell. He snaps the bundle's thin branches in two and unceremoniously drops one into Gaku's basket. ]
I would recommend studying that book further before making future trips. After all, I highly doubt you've ingested anything poisonous before, so your tolerance would be hellsawful.
[ Says local man who has ingested multiple poisons. ]
no subject
[ And he knows he’s kind of the odd one out in this place when it comes to this.
He looks down at the blueberries in his basket and sighs. ]
I need to find the right motivation to memorize this stuff. I thought foraging wouldn’t be that hard, but there’s a lot to think about.
no subject
[ But he's #notahuman anymore, so what can he say.
Adelis follows his gaze for a moment before back to the book, and quirks a slender brow. ]
I would assume not dying would be a suitable motivation. [ C'mon, idol boy. ] Whilst I highly doubt the wilderness where you come from is as bloodthirsty as mine, should you ever become stuck or lost, it would do you well to know what will keep you alive and what will you hasten you towards an early grave.
no subject
...I guess now would be the right time to start studying all of this, especially since all the plants look like ones from back home. How do you memorize this stuff, though? Flashcards?
no subject
No. [ The fuck are flashcards...anyway. ] My teacher forced me to learn by putting several in front of me and having me attempt to discern which was poisonous and which was not. I would have to eat the one I picked.
[ This is...a wholly casual admittance, like he didn't nearly die. ]
If I failed, I would have to endure the symptoms before I was given any form of relief. You learn rather quickly, that way.
[ He also had to just drink straight poison at other times, but that's a different kind of training. ]

Regardless, Childe's poised to fulfill a bingo of his own, an artist's easel and some paints laid out. If Adelis deigns to glance over at any point, he'll see that what's forming on the canvas doesn't resemble a picture so much as it does a black hole, drawing some dark circle that overlaps itself again and again. To be specific, he's attempting to sketch out his perception of the Abyss, but Childe's no artist and it shows. It's an awful rendition, and it's consuming so much of his attention that he hasn't yet broached a conversation, or even deigned to take a sip of the glass beside him. Very unfriendly of him. ]
no subject
A glass in hand, Adelis has been idly sipping while keeping his eye trained on his supposed drinking partner...but Childe has not so much as taken a single drink of his own, focused entirely on the easel in front of him. Sitting watching somebody paint is not how he'd ever imagine spending an afternoon, but at least it's...relatively painless. If not awkward, since nothing more than a few words has been said.
One gloved hand pressing to his cheek, he zeroes in on the canvas and, well. It's. Certainly something. ]
...And what, pray tell, is that supposed to be.
[ He may as well ask, if he's going to be here a while. ]
no subject
[ Smiling, he resumes drawing. Bolder strokes, one circle overlaid atop another, until the paint is blurring like graphite and smudging less of the paper than his hand, fresh with ink. Not very subtle of him, but then again, Childe's hardly low-key where he's taken to the easel, wreaking havoc that the page can scarcely confine. ]
Found myself down there once! It's not a sight you easily forget.
[ A cold and lifeless place, cursing anyone so unfortunate to fall in with this bone-deep appetite. He'd know, what with crawling out of it crazy and battle-ravenous. No more shyness or more fear in him, only endless bloodlust, and his words err on the side of good humor as he addresses Adelis. ]
Not that fond of the selection, I take it?
[ Isn't the liquor strong enough for his liking? Most Fatui agents harbor a fondness for fire-water, as if anyone should drink for the taste than severe delights. The thing is that Childe favors acidity that could burn all sense of concentration away. Sorry, he's just consumed by this painting. Give him some time to lower his guard and he'll drink to the awkwardness. ]
