crisp fall weather

Heralded by cooling temperatures and the crunch of orange leaves underfoot, fall has arrived on Crescentview Isle. It’s time to break out your sweaters and scarves in preparation for the cooler days ahead.

Fall is a season rich with tradition and festivals aplenty, so head down to the Town Square to find out what all is in store for you this season. While you’re at it, take a look at the calendar for Fall 1st through 15th.

This season’s crops are eggplant, carrot, yam, spinach, and green pepper. Fall’s seasonal flowers are lamp grass, lilac, sweet pea, chrysanthemum, and petunia. As for mushrooms, porcini, enoki, and portobello spores are available for the fall.

hot! ...or pot?

Every Fall 1st, the townsfolk of Crescentview Isle get together for an island-wide feast with food, beverage, and merriment aplenty... but this banquet is a group effort.

Centralized in Town Square is a massive pot simmering with the Goddess’ special broth, and on Fall 1st, townsfolk are invited to throw an item of their choice into the pot to contribute to the stew everyone will enjoy together during the banquet the following day, Fall 2nd.

The thoughtful, rational contribution would be a vegetable, animal product or other edible item, but no one is saying you have to toss in something edible. For every item added to the pot, the flavor, scent and/or special attributes may change, so choose your addition wisely! Here is an example of how your contribution might affect the stew.

Each islander may only contribute a single item to the pot, but be warned! Throw in anything too ridiculous and the Goddess reserves the right to make you regret it for the rest of your days. OOCly, you have from February 1st to February 8th at 12pm EST to add in your contribution.

fallentine's day chocolates

Fallentine's is a local tradition in which the townsfolk gift their friends, neighbors and loved ones special chocolates to show thanks and appreciation for all the joy they bring to their life. This year, the Goddess has provided the island's farmers with her own special chocolates that have arrived in your character's mailbox on Fall 1st.

Each box contains 20 pieces of buff fairy-shaped chocolates. The notecard tucked neatly into the box recommends that you give out one piece of chocolate per person, which might not seem like much... until you see what happens when that little chocolate is consumed!

As you might expect, something special will happen upon consumption of the Goddess' special chocolates, so be warned when consuming or giving out your chocolates! OOCly, each character's chocolates boast a unique effect when consumed, but characters won't know what that effect is ICly until they start giving them out to their neighbors. The effect of each chocolate (and the chocolates themselves) were distributed via the permanent AC post for January, so if you forget what effect your character's chocolates have, you can refer back to that page.

introducing the dulces sueños resort

Thanks to the efforts of our deep-pocketed islanders, all current community projects have been fully funded! One in particular — the mysterious island — is worth noting for the special resort that occupies it.

The Dulces Sueños Resort is a new destination available to all island residents and its tropical-themed suites aren't notable just for their immaculate decor. Spending the night with another person will result in the two of you exchanging a memory with one another as you slumber. Soaking in the resort's large open air baths will allow you to feel your partner's emotions while you both occupy the water, so if you're struggling to understand one another on a deeper level, a little bath may solve that!

This resort is a new and permanent feature of Crescentview island, so feel free to stop by and visit whenever you'd like. They're open for business all year-round!

task board

The task board is located in Town Square and changes from season to season. In real time, a season is one month long. The following tasks are available from February 1st to March 1st and more tasks may be added mid-month.

Certain rewards are only available through event participation, so please keep this in mind when planning your threads. Multiple tasks may be completed within a single thread, but when turning in, please link to the individual tags in which each task was completed.

Finally, rewards are per character, not per farm, so those with housemates may want to coordinate with one another with regard to what animals you’re bringing home to your farm.

This season’s tasks are all about deepening your bonds and helping you get even closer to your fellow islanders. Some of you may already be in relationships or working your way towards one, so what better way to get to know your partner than to explore their dreams and memories? Curious? Take a look at this month’s tasks!

1. Distribute your special chocolates. Fall is the season of love and thankfulness. Share the chocolates the Goddess gave you with your friends and neighbors to receive 1 random fall crop seed. This task can be completed 10 times.

2. Express your appreciation for your neighbors. Tell your friends you care for them, give them a hug, make them a warm meal. No matter how it is you show your appreciation for the people around you, ‘tis the season to make sure they know it. Complete this task a total of 10 times for 1 random fall flower bag.

3. Go foraging. Bushes producing blueberries, blackberries and raspberries can be found in the foothills and are prime for the picking in fall, but be careful: you might get a mild case of poisoning if you don’t know what you’re looking for!

You can also pick bioluminescent mushrooms in the forest and seashells at the beach to complete this task. You will earn 2 random bags of fall mushroom spores with each submission and you may complete this task a total of 5 times.

4. Check out Dulces Sueños Resort. Travel there alone or with a friend for 1 cow, sheep, alpaca or goat of your choice. This task can be completed once and can be combined with tasks 6 and 7.

5. Contribute an item to the community pot. Throw in an item of your choice, but be warned: the Goddess might punish you if she catches you throwing in any garbage or dirty work boots. Complete this task once to receive a rabbit or chicken of your choice for your coop.

6. Share a memory with someone else. Spend the night at Dulces Sueños Resort with a friend. As you rest, you’ll exchange a single memory with the person sleeping beside you. You can complete this task to receive a Buff Fairy contract that summons a single Buff Fairy to work the farm, harvest and water crops, feed and brush animals, etc. You can complete this task a total of 3 times. That's three times the buff fairies!

7. Feel another person’s emotions. Visit the island and soak in its waters with another person. Doing so will allow you to feel what the other person is feeling. This task can be completed 3 times and each completion rewards you with a Diva Fairy contract. These fairies in their little designer heels are quite sassy, but they'll cook, clean, and do whatever work around the house that you demand of them.

local happenings

The Crescentview Times newspaper has chronicled the latest happenings around the island. A physical copy of the paper will arrive on your doorstep early in the morning on Fall 1st.

The Mines have been expanded to include more rewards and more floors to explore! To continue your mining adventures or embark on one for the first time, please visit the new permanent page for the mines.

Pirates have been spotted off the coast of Crescentview Isle in recent days. They've been circling the island in a large boat flying a tattered banner of unknown origin, but their current intentions are unknown.

A blacksmith has made their way to Crescentview and has set up shop in town! The blacksmith can process any ores and gems you've acquired in the mines and fashion them into fine jewelry in exchange for any leftover materials that come with the ores and gems provided. He can also touch up and repair any farm tools brought to him.

The annual Fall Animal Exhibition is set to take place on Fall 15th. Farmers are encouraged to enter their favorite barn or coop animal in the contest to receive accolades and unique rewards. Participation also comes with its own rewards, so don't hesitate to apply with your finest animal when the time comes!

[ ...The dice are out to get (1) Yuri Lowell.

Because it will be up to see if Judith's attack connects and affects the goddess' trajectory of the kick. Otherwise, he is definitely getting kicked in the face. Luckily, there are no cliffs if this occurs, and hopefully if he's getting hit or not, the others are still serving as a good distraction.

If remains safe from le kick by virtue of Judith's actions he is absolutely going to try to see if he can do a leg sweep. If not, he is hitting the ground right about now. ]

[ There are too many things everywhere at once, so if she has to take one attack, she will take Flynn's. The sickles disintegrate so wherever you're being swung to, that's where you're going, Judith! The kick to Yuri's face connects and she promptly shoves him to the pond (lol) with her foot.

Despite Flynn's sword strike striking the goddess, it merely makes a nick on her long dress and sword, meet inertia. To Flynn, it might seem like he struck a rock.

Anyway, the goddess grabs Judith's flung spear and attempts to jam the blunt end right at Flynn's solar plexus. She'll make sure Flynn doesn't get pierced, but merely hit back. ]

[Back into the trees Judith goes. She twists midair, hitting a tree roughly with her feet and landing hard on the ground. Without her spear, she'll have to take a second to regroup. Hopefully Flynn, shining knight and all, can recover that for her. She glances over at Yuri in the pond with brief bemusement, but as soon as Yuri is out of there, she'll throw herself back into the fray]

[ Well. Flynn knew she was going to be tough, so he doesn't really do more than blink at the lightly numb tingling in his palms from trying to chop a rock. But without his shield he doesn't have much recourse except to be knocked back by the spear with an "oof" of the air leaving his lungs. He does try to strike the spear sideways with his blade as he staggers back, in the hopes of knocking it from her hands to return to Judith. ]

[ Down he goes, straight into the pond! There's the sound of a lovely splash, and then he's getting right up, coming right out of it despite the bruise on his face.

Unsurprisingly, Yuri's not going to give up, though boy. He's going to alter his course of attack, so he's doing another attempted strike aimed towards the backside of the goddess, hoping she's too preoccupied with Judith and Flynn yet again. ]

[ The goddess could go for Flynn right about now, since he seems the most vulnerable despite his tanking tendencies. Unfortunately while Judith was recovering and waiting for her spear and Flynn hit back, she has a lot of attention to give Yuri.

She has an axe that's taller than herself which, strangely enough, only uses to deflect Yuri's strike and smack him to the nearest tree with the blunt side.

The other two will have literal pitchforks raining on them. Hope you can dodge! ]

[ Judith dodges those pitchforks, rolling out of the way nimbly. Well, with an opponent like this, care wasn't an option. Reckless aggression it is. She gets nicked by one pitch fork but charges back in to retrive her spear. Sorry Yuri, she can't quite help you there. ]

[ Yuri, buddy... Flynn's used to him getting tossed around a bit in a fight, but he's starting to get a little worried. He tries to deflect the pitchforks, taking a few glancing hits from clumsy parries as he does.

If he gets a second he's going to start casting a proper heal over in Yuri's direction. He needs a moment to actually finish the spell though. ]

[ Sometimes, you have your bad days. This being hilarious extremely bad rolls—anyways, Yuri goes flying straight into the nearest tree with a grunt, because that smarts. Damn, he would be absolutely feeling this in the morning, though he doesn't want to leave the blond a sitting duck.

It'll still take a little more than that to leave him down and out for the count! So ignoring the feeling of his bruises, he leaps back in, thinking maybe he should try to switch things up. Watching the goddess carefully, and the rain of pitchfolks, he's going around them.

Next up, he's going to go for a feint. Not the usual, appearing to strike low, at the woman's (apparent) unprotected side, but his real intention is to at the last moment, draw back, making the real attempted strike at the goddess' back. ]

[ Her focus is being divided again, but the axe is tossed up in the air. She allows Judith to reposition, Flynn to heal, and for Yuri to strike her back. It feels as if Yuri just struck a boulder with his sword.

For those who have been eyeing the axe up in the air, it divides into three, spinning like a boomerang at each one. If someone gets struck by one, it will only be the blunt force. Nothing is getting chopped. ]

You have landed two hits on me. That's better than I expected.

[ She announces to the group as a whole and gets out her wheat stalks out again. ]

[Judith huffs quietly, a short little breath and then she goes back in, charging in with a series of kicks, while she dodges the axes. The goddess seemed to have no intention of hurting them too badly, she thinks but still...]

Then why offer a spar to us all?

I'm sure that you know the thrill of battle, dear.

[ The goddess attempts to parry the kicks. ]

It isn't my intent to murder any of you.

[ Except Owen, only because he's a shithead to her face and that she knew he had no qualms about dying since he's used to that. She tries to hit Judith's legs aside with one stalk and tries to strike her with the other. ]

Ah. That is true.

[Well, if that's the case...

It definitely hurts to parry those stalks with her legs, but she keeps going, trying to keep the goddess occupied long enough for Flynn or Yuri to stage their own comeback]

[ Meanwhile, Yuri doesn't even think of asking questions. Instead, he's thinking, Alright, that's enough fooling around...!

Immediately, the axe boomerang for once is being blocked, because he actually rolled well the one time during this battle. 17's his new lucky number, baby!

But, as he's shifting around, the dark-haired male, swings out, his blade letting out a strong shockwave aimed with the intention of knocking against the goddess. ]

I don't disagree with the spirit. But perhaps we should set terms for the match's conclusion...

[ Flynn catches the axe aimed at him on his forearm — sure would be nice to have a shield, that's going to leave a bruise — but he catches onto Yuri's arte and jumps back to send a small fireball towards the goddess.

...Honestly even if her defense weren't Like That, it'd be a little lackluster with his artes nerfed. ]

[ Judith's legs sure are flexible. Hm. Can she suddenly grow a third arm to parry Yuri's shockwave? No, but she can shove Judith away to make a crescent shaped shockwave of her own with the wheat stalks to neutralize Flynn's fireball and cut through Yuri's shockwave. ]

My, if you're so eager to set the terms for the conclusions...

[ Portals appear in the sky and it's raining small bales of hay at baseball pitching speed everywhere. ]

[Uh oh. Judith doesn't even have a chance to recover before the bale rain happens. Can Judith retrieve her spear and repel some of those bales of hay? She is not a good farmer, this is awful.]

[ Yuri's seeing the bountiful fall of hay. There's definitely no way he's getting through the goddess' hay day ( h e h ) unscathed. Also do you know what this will do to his long hair? He'll be picking out things for hours on end.

He doesn't do well in repelling the rain, nevertheless, but at some point he just raises an arm and charges at the goddess again, anyway, leaping— ]

Heh. I guess you're the real deal after all.

[ —then he's bringing down his blade, hoping to cause a distraction at the very least to put an end to the rain of hay before they're all buried in it! Is it very effective, though... ]

That hardly constitutes an answer—

[ Ma'am??? That's just a counterattack???

Flynn is absorbed parrying bales of hay as quickly as he can. Tiny or not, at those speeds, that's keeping him fairly occupied. If he has the opportunity he'll try to bat one in the goddess's direction, hopefully not into Yuri's trajectory unless Yuri's dice are again cursed. ]

[ Anyone is free to try and repel the bales of hay, but they're not stopping until they fill this entire forest area with them alone. The ones that are hit towards the goddess's direction are merely struck down with other bales of hay. They continue to rain down at fierce speeds from the portals in the air.

As for Yuri, his courage is commended, but not forgotten. The goddess merely changes the trajectory of several falling bales of hay to smack Yuri in the stomach. You tried... ]

Shall we call it for now, then?

Yielding is no fun, but...

[ Judith, battle maniac as she is, knows the goddess is just toying with them by now. She spins her spear rapidly to knock away the bales of hay. But she really doesn't want to lose either. Problem. She'll be pouty for while after this.]

[ Meanwhile, Yuri does enjoy his fights! Including starting them with nobody who's crazy (exhibit a in the past? See Zagi), but that being said, he knows a lost cause when he sees it. Even moreso when evidently not all of them are at full strength here.

So while Judith is a bit more stubborn to admit defeat, Yuri reluctantly sheathes his blade. ]

There's no point in stubbornly persisting when we can't win right now, yeah? It was a good fight.

[ But, now that he's done, and hopefully she summons away the hay or something, there is something on his mind... ]

[ The goddess laughs a little. The three really wanted to win, huh... she has to admire their dedication. Ah, to be young again... ]

There, there. You can spar amongst yourself as much as you'd like. In regards to questions, ask away.

[ She looks over at Flynn too, since she thinks he'll also stop. ]

Thank you for the match. It was very enlightening.

[ Flynn gives the goddess a polite salute after he sheathes his sword. If there's a tiny little frown that says he's not much less disappointed in things wrapping up than Judith is... it's nothing. ]

Yeah, it was.

That said, Yuri is going to steer this conversation ... places. ]

So, as the one who knows everything that's happening on this island and all that, do you know how exactly this guy named Konoe died? I'd heard people brought here can die and end up coming back, but it seems like he didn't for some reason. What's up with that, huh?
