[ Perhaps you're walking through town, heading from one place to another, when you come across a child. No older than ten, he wanders around doing the following things: ]

[ i. crying his eyes out. Correction: crying his single eye out because even at this young age, he still has his eyepatch, but the point is that there's a kid in the middle of the street and crying. ]

[ ii. sniffling while tugging on your sleeve. In his other hand is the pamphlet. In a quiet voice, he asks for help. ]

[ iii. picking out dandelions. To kids, dandelions are flowers, not weeds, so he's ripping them out and collecting a little bundle in his other hand. When someone passes by, he'll hold one out and ask if they want one. ]

[ iv. shooting at birds with his slingshot. Who gave this child a slingshot? The local grocery store, after promising that he'll bring crops when he's older. What they didn't know what he'd do with it is attempt to catch lunch so... look at that boy go. ]

[ v. wildcard. hmu and i'll write out a starter!! ]

[ He holds up the pamphlet. The man is a little scary so Kaeya speaks in a small voice. ]

Can you help me find someone?

[ Has He Xuan considered looking less scary? Nope.png his face was like this since the day he was born.

[ He lets go of He Xuan so he can open the pamphlet. He flips to a page that stops at a particular redhead. ]

Diluc.

[ Ah, yes, Diwuc. ]

...Fine. Come with me.

[ He Xuan actually has visited the guy's farm before so he knows where it is, conveniently enough. ]

And keep up.

[ Not too sure about running off with a guy whose face could cause kids to cry (like right now, Kaeya's still crying), but he really wants to see Diluc so he'll follow. He'll try to keep up! But does He Xuan walk fast, does he ditch Kaeya if he takes too long, he's just a tiny kid with tiny kid legs :( He also can't properly see where he's going because of the tears. ]

[ He Xuan truly has a scary face. Even the more infamous of ghost kings can have a more pleasant expression. But anyway, He Xuan does walk fast...a times.

Then when it seems like Kaeya is falling behind, he inexplicably slows down. He speaks without turning his head to look at the kid, though. ]

How long have you been standing around by yourself?

[calla]

[ Kaeya is grateful that He Xuan starts to slow down. He wipes away at his tears and looks up at the man. ]

I dunno... an hour? Maybe two...

[ Brief glance... ]

Hardly surprising it took so long.

[ He Xuan isn't going to call himself someone who'd normally go out of his way to take care of crying children, even if they came up to him. But here he is. Hopefully Diluc is home because leaving Kid! Kaeya by himself doesn't seem like it'd be a good idea either. ]

[calla]

[ Here they are! No one is out in the fields and when they try the front door, it's locked. No one answers to their knocking. ]

No one's home...

[ what now, he xuan, do you take this child with you or do you ditch ]

Well, Kaeya probably won't remember this anyway. ]

Diluc is probably doing something else. [ ... ] If you're good, we can play a game.

[ Kids like things like hide and seek, maybe...? Should be simple enough to pass some time. ]

[calla]

[ jokes on you, he will remember and he'll be like haha he xuan is a softieeeee ]

[ He will not be able to live this down, god. ]

Hide and seek. Want to play?

[ ...Honestly, when he was younger, he imagined that someday he might have a family, like his parents. It's pretty much impossible now, though, so he's not going to think about it much. ]

Okay!

[ Hide and seek! Well, he hasn't played that in a while, so that would be nice to play again. ]

Can I hide first?

Go ahead. I won't look.

[ He Xuan pointedly turns away...BUT he adds: ]

Obviously you have until the count of twenty.

[calla]

All right!

[ Once He Xuan starts his count from one, Kaeya will go run off. He's a pretty fast little bugger so he manages to get to a nearby tree and start to climb it. By the time that He Xuan hits twenty, Kaeya has just barely gotten up to the first branch. He will quickly keep climbing while the man looks. ]

[ this is going to be a case of a cat that can go up but can't get back down ]

[ Well, that's impressive. By the time he's done he doesn't immediately see the other around, so time to look around more thoroughly!

He Xuan is going to search for Kaeya, looking through the bushes and other foliage nearby, silent like death. But in the daylight, and in all that black he is very visible!

Is Kaeya going to be good at keeping quiet at least? ]

[calla]

[ He is pretty good at keeping quiet! But he can't do anything about the branch slightly shaking underneath his weight and silent giggles. A leaf even falls off! ]

[esurientabyss]

[ The laughter of a child is contagious, but he is good at keeping his face like stone or from laughing much himself. Though he does find the sound amusing.

Anyway, He Xuan keeps his steps silent as a ghost (hah) and creeps closer and closer until...

He suddenly leaps right onto the a nearby branch! ]

Found you.

[calla]

[ Kaeya starts, not expecting for He Xuan to suddenly leap right by him like that! Luckily, he's not startled enough that he goes falling off, but he does gape at him. ]

Wow, how did you jump all the way up here?!

[ If his pupil wasn't already shaped like a star, there would be literally stares in his single eye. ]

[esurientabyss]

[ He has forgotten how easily children can be wowed... ]

With skill.

[ Good thing he did not scare mini Kaeya out of his spot, because then that'd be troublesome. Though, the male leaps down soon enough. ]

When you get older, you might learn it too.

[calla]

Really?

[ Kaeya says as he looks down and then... around. Um, he starts to inch over to the tree itself but doesn't know what to do. He's too afraid of getting hurt to actually try anything. ]

[esurientabyss]

Yes.

[ ...ah.

He sees the problem.

He Xuan quickly looks around, and upon spotting no one, he holds out his hands. ]

...I'll catch you.

[calla]

[ He peers down. Wahh, it's really high... ]

... promise you'll catch me?

[esurientabyss]

I promise.

[ He Xuan continues to hold out his hands. ]

I'm also strong, so no need to worry.
