[ Perhaps you're walking through town, heading from one place to another, when you come across a child. No older than ten, he wanders around doing the following things: ]

[ i. crying his eyes out. Correction: crying his single eye out because even at this young age, he still has his eyepatch, but the point is that there's a kid in the middle of the street and crying. ]

[ ii. sniffling while tugging on your sleeve. In his other hand is the pamphlet. In a quiet voice, he asks for help. ]

[ iii. picking out dandelions. To kids, dandelions are flowers, not weeds, so he's ripping them out and collecting a little bundle in his other hand. When someone passes by, he'll hold one out and ask if they want one. ]

[ iv. shooting at birds with his slingshot. Who gave this child a slingshot? The local grocery store, after promising that he'll bring crops when he's older. What they didn't know what he'd do with it is attempt to catch lunch so... look at that boy go. ]

[He's held onto that secret all his life. Diluc knows that much, but what he hadn't realized is how much pain it's brought Kaeya. He hadn't known the truth until the eve of his father's death, and by then, it was too late. Now... Diluc doesn't know what to do with the truth while it hits him full across the face.]

[ Even with Diluc's reassurance, Kaeya keeps on crying. In fact, he's crying hard enough that he's starting to stutter here and there. ]

I-I'm sorry that I didn't tell you sooner. I-- I didn't want you to hate me. Or hurt me.

[ Not that he could ever see it happening, but it's a fear that still lingered. ]

[Hurt him... Ah, he feels like he's been stabbed right in the heart. He's thankful Kaeya can't see the hurt in his eyes, holding him just a little tighter to ward off those vicious shudders. This hug is just as much for his own sake as it is for Kaeya's.]

That secret must bother you a lot, doesn't it? I don't blame you for not telling me.

[I only wish you'd told me sooner.]

[ He nods, sniffling as he holds on tight. There's a pause before he can speak again, hesitant to bring up his question. ]

Will you still be my brother?

We'll always be brothers, Kaeya. No matter what happens, let me assure you of that.

[Brothers... into brotherfuckers..............]

[ He nods once more, letting out a small 'mmhm' as he wipes his face into his arm. He pulls back just enough to look at Diluc in the eyes. ]

I promise I won't keep any more secrets from you. I'll tell you anything that you want!

...Alright, then. In that case, I'm going to ask you something important.

[Ruh roh. Again, really hoping Kaeya doesn't recall this situation when he's reverted back to normal.]

Mmhm, a lot!

[ Kaeya immediately answers without hesitation. Now, whether or not he's perceiving this as a like or a like, that is unknown. ]

[Very cute... but that's not quite what he means. Hmm. How would a child put this...? Ah, he knows.]

[ Oh. Oh! Hmm, Kaeya's face, although still stained with tears, turns into a shade of pink again. He looks down as he suddenly starts to fumble with "flowers" in his hand. ]

M-Mmhm...

[Oh............................ Alright. This isn't a revelation he was prepared for, but he leans back to look at that little pink face and the flowers held tightly in his hands. Kaeya had a crush on him... He must've outgrown that at some point, surely, but the tightness in Diluc's chest won't let him fully believe that.]

So you intend to propose to me? You've grown up quickly, Kaeya.

[He's teasing, of course, but even his cheeks are a little pink. How sweet.]

[ Kaeya's face immediately turns red. P-Propose?! Ahhh, thinking about possibly marrying Diluc is having his heart beat fast. That would be really nice, though. You marry the one you love, and he loves Diluc a lot, so of course he wants that one day! ]

I-I promise I'll propose with better flowers than this!

[ Ah, he still needs to actually give these to Diluc rather than continue to hold them... ]

[He only wishes he'd known about this little crush when they were children. He'd have insisted on being the one to propose if he did, but instead, he brushes Kaeya's bangs back and kisses his forehead softly. This is why he treasures Kaeya. This is why he'll never let go no matter how tangled their web grows.]

[ Taking one of the best looking dandelions, he slips one into Diluc's hair, just behind his ear. ]

I still wanna get you the ones you like! As soon as I get a whole lot of time, I promise I'll propose!

[Hah... He's almost looking forward to it, but knowing where the future will lead them, he knows Kaeya's little crush won't last much longer. If it did and Kaeya truly did propose to him, what would he say? The answer wouldn't be no, couldn't be no, but...

Ahem! Moving right along, Diluc brings Kaeya over to the bed and sits down with him.]

There are plenty of flowers in the forest. If you'd like, I'll take you on a little trip there tomorrow.

[ By now, his tears has stopped and been wiped away. His face is still stained, but that can be easily washed away. He nods excitingly. ]

Okay! I'll pick only the prettiest ones for you!
