[ ii. sniffling while tugging on your sleeve. In his other hand is the pamphlet. In a quiet voice, he asks for help. ]

[ iii. picking out dandelions. To kids, dandelions are flowers, not weeds, so he's ripping them out and collecting a little bundle in his other hand. When someone passes by, he'll hold one out and ask if they want one. ]

[ iv. shooting at birds with his slingshot. Who gave this child a slingshot? The local grocery store, after promising that he'll bring crops when he's older. What they didn't know what he'd do with it is attempt to catch lunch so... look at that boy go. ]

[ Fishing out of his pocket, he takes out a makeshift handkerchief. It's just a small piece of fabric. ]

[ Kaeya is hesitant to follow a stranger, but he does want to see Diluc... and he doesn't know where to go, so he'll take the risk. Grabbing onto Zhongli's coattail, he follows along. [ Well, as Kaeya is silent, Zhongli will introduce himself and also his occupation... And... I guess a story about a treasure hunting seelie before the chicken shows up.

It's a chicken. He's going to walk past it. ]

[ No!!!!!!!!!!! Chicken doesn't allow!!!!!!!! It immediately starts to caw and flap its wings aggressively while pecking the hell out of Zhongli's ankles. Kaeya has let go of him at this point, too intimidated by the chicken to cross. ]

[lapidation]

[ IT'S! JUST A CHICKEN! Zhongli doesn't mind it overmuch, though he is mildly annoyed by how it's attack him. He stays quiet, then looks behind him to see Kaeya is.

Intimidated by a chicken. ]

[ Zhongli says, amidst the sound of flapping and clucking. He doesn't want to hurt child's feelings if he's mustering up the COURAGE. ]

[calla]

[ It's a scary and angry chicken! Kaeya is trying to muster up that COURAGE, so he shakes his head. He can do it! He's not afraid of some chicken! ]

[ ... but as he briskly walks up to Zhongli, the chicken takes offense and attacks! Ack!! It's a lot harder to fend off a chicken attack when you're tall and it can't jump up to attack your face. Kaeya is short so... it's now attacking his face, are you happy ]

[lapidation]

[ Zhongli will watch for maybe two seconds before he hoists Kaeya up into his arms. He can sit on his forearm, away from the chicken.

Hopefully, it only goes after Zhongli's ankles. ]

I wonder what soured this chicken's mood...

[ Trying to escape now. ]

[calla]

[ Thank goodness for that. Kaeya's glad that Zhongli has lifted him away from the chicken's wrath. It squawks angrily as it jumps and pecks at Zhongli's knees. ]

Are all the chickens here like this...?

[ Zhongli said that all the animals here are friendly :( was that a lie ]

[lapidation]

[ Zhongli is just walking away normally. ]

No, not all of them. Most of the animals I've met have been well-behaved. [ :thonk: ] Someone must have angered this one.

[calla]

[ The chicken follows! It angrily follows! And Kaeya nervously looks down at it, gripping onto Zhongli's collar tightly. ]

Can we calm it down...?

[ Maybe if they feed it, it'll go away... ]

I do not have grains on me and some are not healthy for chickens.

[ They don't want the chicken to just die, I guess. Zhongli continues walking, making sure Kaeya is out of the chicken's reach. ]

[ A Mondstadt song he has heard a drunk bard compose and sing before, with some additions of the current generation. ]

[ Oh, he knows this song! Once he recognizes it and figures out what place in the song that Zhongli is at, he jumps in to join singing! And you know what... it actually does work. ]

[ The chicken just fucks off after that. ]
