I've met Childe in Liyue and I knew he was a Fatui Harbinger right away... because he told me. He never hid that fact from me. He even helped me out. But I even though I accepted his help, I can't say I trusted him.
Of course when he was helping me he had an ulterior motive, but he failed to achieve his goal and he was sure that I tricked him. We fought, I won... and eventually it turned out that we both were used as pawns by someone else who made a deal with a different Harbinger.
[The simple version of this story.]
I'm not excusing the things Childe has done. He's a bad guy, but... he's not evil. And thanks to him I got some more information on other Harbingers, too, since he isn't particularly fond of them. As far as I know, they don't think too highly of him either.
[A small sigh.]
I also got to meet Childe's younger brother... Childe really loves his family and yet, he entrusted him to me.
[Weird, right?]
...At first I wanted to keep an eye on him, but... I guess I really want to know what is going through his head.
I'm not ENTIRELY convinced, but ... I said I'd listen, now I've heard you. ( Amber can't wipe that pout off her lips, though. ) I know him having a sibling would resonate with you, too ... but still! Fatui!
( She sighs, and waves a hand dismissively. )
I'll just write this off as a special case, okay? But mark my words, Traveller, if you ever get in trouble - or if HE ever lays a finger on you, I'll burn him to the ground. Do you understand me? ( lord. ) ... I can't stay mad at you because I found him incredibly charming when I first met him here, too. I just didn't find out about the Fatui thing until later ... much later. I felt really miffed that I didn't know.
I'm sorry, Amber. I should've told you, but I also didn't think he'd keep quiet about it.
[Considering how open Childe is about being a Harbinger.]
Believe me, I know what horrible things Fatui have done, but... I just can't look at them as a one faceless being. They are individuals with their own ideals.
[He's met many of them on his journey and not all of them were rotten like Dottore.]
"Different ideals" or not! I will never, ever have time for anyone who associates with the group that Il Dottore is part of! That masked weirdo! That-- That man who nearly killed Collei!
( But, she's getting heated. Evident, it seems by the way her fists ignite into fire. When she notices this happen, she takes a few breaths and shakes the fire off her wrists. )
