autumn catchall
WHO: Faust and you
WHAT: it's a catchall babeyyyyyy
WHEN: Throughout autumn
WHERE: Everywhere!
WARNINGS: None for now, but that will probably change. Will update accordingly.
chocolate.
[ Faust has no idea what to think of the box of chocolates. Usually, he's not into sweets. They're nice in certain situations, sure, but he's never given them to anyone. (Except for that one time.) He's about to toss them away, but that'd be a waste of someone's work and time. So... if you happen to be around when Faust is taking a walk around the island, he'll get your attention. ]
Hey. Do you want these?
[ He holds up the box. Surely someone will want them. ]
foraging.
[ Faust is grateful for his time in the Valley of Storms. If he hadn't had to find a way to survive and give himself at least the basics, he'd be in trouble here. While the food here is quite different, the library is here for a reason. He's recorded drawings of the various plants, fruit, and vegetables of this world. It's not totally exhaustive, but the drawings are excellent.
And he might've snagged a field guide, too. Just in case.
Anyway, he's carefully picking through the bushes and trees, and for once he looks at ease. He won't even complain if someone comes to join him. ]
open air baths.
[ Like hell he's going there when someone else is around.
He makes absolutely sure that no one is lurking around the baths, and when he's satisfied, in he goes. It's wonderful to soak in the hot water; Faust carries so much tension that it's honestly impressive he hasn't simply collapsed in on himself. He's very much not expecting anyone else here, but that's too bad, isn't it, if someone happens to arrive.
And maybe they might notice the large mark on his left shoulder. ]
closed to owen.
[ It's his own fault, but Faust has regrets.
His intent had been to keep an eye on Owen and not have some hapless person win the bid and subsequently get wizard jumpscared. He hadn't predicted that the dates to take place on a cruise ship... But it's too late now. As with all Northern wizards, Faust is cautious around him.
He expects nothing but an evening during which Owen just says things, as he does. With that in mind, Faust helps himself to a glass of wine (Shylock's wine, as it happens) before heading to... their room. ]
wildcard.
[ Drop a starter here or hmu for one! ]

heh
So he knows that he is absolutely the last person Faust would choose to go on a romantic rendezvous with, and there's probably some sort of reason Faust would subject himself to Owen's company... Which Owen will lord over him later. Not very Eastern of him to put himself on the line like that, is it?
...Anyways. Irrelevant thoughts for now. Owen's already made himself comfortable in their suite, sprawled on the bed and smiling cheerfully at Faust.]
I almost thought you wouldn't show up.
[Who could have blamed him if he just got drunk at the bar instead?]
no subject
Ah, well. Just another day ending in y, huh?
Either way, he's here, and so is Owen. Faust crosses his arms and stays near the door, regarding him with suspicion. Gaku doesn't think Owen is dangerous, but Faust knows very well how dangerous he can be. ]
Someone has to keep an eye on you.
[ Nope, he's not budging from where he stands. Owen will have to take the initiative. ]
no subject
[Heh. He props himself up an elbow, looking at Faust for a moment. He looks contemplative, his bright grin fading to something a bit more sly as his eyes narrow.]
Have you thought about it before...? Putting your eyes on me, and seeing something nobody else could see?
[Oh, he's absolutely certain Faust has never entertained the thought, and would rather curse himself a hundred times before he stooped so low, but... They're here. He can't deny how this may look to outsiders, and why shouldn't Owen take advantage of this and try to get Faust on the backfoot?]
If I had known you were interested in that sort of thing, we could have done this sooner.
no subject
Why is it always the North wizards, seriously. Faust's eyes narrow. He could leave, and honestly? He knows he should leave, but... whatever. This is his cross to bear. With his eyes solely on Owen, he doesn't even notice the things that've been provided for them. ]
Don't say such stupid things. [ He's got that huffy note to his voice... ] Putting any other meaning to this is ridiculous.
no subject
Are you sure? You of all people could unwind, and why not take advantage of the opportunity granted to you? You won me fair and square.
[He won a “date” with Owen, and that doesn’t really mean there’s any obligation for either of them, but just telling Faust he can go and spend his time elsewhere wouldn’t be nearly as entertaining. He wouldn’t get to see his annoyed face or hear him huff and puff.]
Though, has someone as gloomy as you ever actually embraced someone?
[You a virgin, kid…]
no subject
I don't need you to tell me I need to "unwind."
[ They both know that; by now, while they're not close nor are they even friends, they know each other well enough. Faust just doesn't like Owen being... well. Himself.
That question puts a lump in his throat. Despite himself, he feels warmth creep up the back of his neck. As transparent as Faust is with his feelings, that scowl combined with the color in his cheeks tells a story, doesn't it? ]
You shouldn't try to pry into things that are none of your business. Then again, that's how Northern wizards are, right?
no subject
[He rolls over onto his stomach, propping his chin on his hands. He knows Faust would rather cut out his tongue then call Owen a friend - but he doesn’t take it personally. He understands. It’s not just because Faust won’t admit anyone is his friend at all, but because Owen knows of the general distaste people have for him. Which is reasonable, honestly.
But Owen also knows that despite the disgust he inspires in people, he also inspires desire.]
It could be my business. I’m not sure I want someone with no experience to hold me, after all. That just sounds unsatisfying.
[Heh. Hehehe.]
no subject
Ugh, he hates this. He hates that Owen can see right through him, hates that truthfully, he does need to... unwind. It's been a very long time, after all; Faust has had too much to worry about to really think about it. That, and he just doesn't want to think about it.
He averts his eyes, letting out a sigh. ]
You're serious, aren't you. [ That color in his cheeks deepens. Embarrassing. ] Why.
[ It's not like he's appealing or anything.
...... Is Owen making fun of him? ]
no subject
[It’s both a flippant reply, and an honest one. Why shouldn’t be and Faust have some fun that doesn’t mean anything, unlike all the emotional intimacy this island has been pushing. Owen’s kind of over it, and any reason to not think about feelings.
Not to mention…]
You could use some relaxing, I could use some fun, we both get something out if it. But if you need more convincing, why not have some of these?
[He taps the chocolates on the nightstand, still smiling. He’s making a good point, isn’t he?]
thanks, i hate this
[ He eyes the chocolates suspiciously. Is this just another... Owen-ism? Weirdly enough, though, despite that suspicion and incredulity, Faust senses he might be serious. ]
Why are you propositioning me, anyway? Surely there are other people you prefer more and who are more appealing.
no subject
[He sighs, exaggerated, before shifting so he can slide off the bed and to his feet, grabbing the box of chocolates as he does.
He removes the lid, tossing it aside.]
Besides, you’re not that bad. You’re handsome, skilled with cursed, and you have a delightfully conflicted demeanor, trapped between who you really are and what you desperately want people to see. It’s enticing.
no subject
It sucks even more that Owen has a point. Not the sudden compliments, because he refuses to believe all of that, but the fact that he's actually... considering this. Faust eyes him as Owen discards the lid.
.........
Enticing-- ]
And if I agree?
[ It's not an answer, but it absolutely is an answer. ]
no subject
He takes a piece of chocolate, stepping closer so he can press it up to Faust’s lips.]
What do you think will happen?
[He leans closer, fully invading his personal space now.]
Would you like a hint?
no subject
...
He curls his fingers around Owen's wrist. He doesn't think for a moment it's normal chocolate, because Owen wouldn't be so willing to share if it were. It's probably not poisoned, because Owen wants something here, and unlike Owen, Faust can actually turn to stone. ]
I don't need a hint.
[ Faust is a lot of things: His roots are in Central, obvious when he lets down those walls; he's Eastern in his desire for isolation, for his hatred of humans, for the self-loathing that runs so deep; but he's also prideful and refuses to back down when he's pushed, and maybe that'd come from the time he'd spent living and training there.
He locks eyes with Owen as he parts his lips and accepts the chocolate, tongue brushing against his bare fingers. ]
no subject
You’re a smart man.
[He places his hands on Faust’s shoulders, turning them so his back is to the bed and nudging him to take a step back and take a seat. Not many people get to see the Northern wizard on his knees (and live to talk about it, at least), so Faust is in for a treat.]
I wonder how long it’ll be until the aphrodisiac in the chocolate takes effect.
no subject
...
Or it's that. Actually, it's definitely that. (That's what he tells himself, because it's humiliating to admit he wants to be touched.) Seated at the edge of the bed, Faust looks up at him. ]
... So that's what it is. [ He wants to think that Owen's mentioning it is what makes his skin feel flushed, makes him ache. A placebo effect, he wants to tell himself, but he can't. ] I was wondering why you were so willing to share sweets.
[ If his voice is already strained.... don't worry about it. ]
chocolate
Huh? The entire box?
[ He..doesn't want them? ]
Are you not a fan of sweets?
no subject
I'm not opposed, but they're not what I usually go for. I didn't want them to go to waste. Besides, this reminds me too much of.... [ A pause. It's suspiciously long. ] "Valentine's Day."
[ He looks.... annoyed? It's not Lucia's fault. He's just remembering how the last sage had described it.... ]
no subject
[ It was a holiday she thought was stupid before, but having a boyfriend in her life has changed that significantly. She can sympathize, though. ]
It's sort of uncomfortable, when you're single. I used to just sit in my room and eat all of the chocolate on sale, heh... But if you'd like to get one out of the way for your task, we can have an exchange, maybe?
no subject
[ Anyway, ]
We may as well.
[ He has no idea that his chocolates will prompt an act of kindness.... He opens the box and offers one. ]
no subject
She chews on it and grins. Little does she know that he'll want some spicy food after this. ]
Oh, it's actually quite good... Better than I was expecting.
jfc i lost this notif
Glad to hear it.
[ He takes one of her chocolates and examines it for a moment. Seems normal enough, even if the last time he'd accepted chocolate from someone--
....
Nevermind. Lucia's not like that at all. He pops it into his mouth, and... she's right. Huh. ]
Huh. You're right. Not bad at all.
