As Fall’s characteristic storms continue to cast the island in layers of heavy gray clouds, the season of festivals carries on despite the chill weather. The yearly animal exhibition is taking place in Town Square along with All Hallows’ Eve at the end of the season, but there’s something off about fall this year. Perhaps it’s the pirates who have anchored themselves at the beach...?

This season’s crops are eggplant, carrot, yam, spinach, and green pepper. Fall’s seasonal flowers are lamp grass, lilac, sweet pea, chrysanthemum, and petunia. As for mushrooms, porcini, enoki, and portobello spores are available for the fall.

the animal exhibition

The Animal Exhibition is your opportunity to show off the animals you’ve spent the last year raising, caring for, and nurturing. Competitors will take the stage to make an appeal as to why their special little friend deserves the title of best in show. The audience will then rate their animal — and whatever impassioned speech was made on the animal’s behalf — on a scale from 1 to 10.

Both barn animals and animals from your coop may be entered, but your cats and dogs do not qualify for this competition.

Characters will be asked to fill out the following form to enter their animal in the exhibition:

Name: Your animal’s name! You did name your animal, didn’t you?

Special talent: Animals are just as special and talented as their human counterparts, obviously. Even if it’s complete BS, please tell the audience what your animal’s special talent is.

What qualifies your animal as best in show? This is your opportunity to make an appeal to the audience and talk up your animal. Go on, fish for votes! There’s no limit on how much can be said about your animal, so go nuts.

Once again, judgment will be cast by the audience and scores given on a scale of 1 to 10. Reply directly to the applications themselves to cast your votes and/or discuss the animal being presented with the exhibitor and your fellow audience members.

OOCly and ICly, the exhibition takes place on the 15th. Votes will be tallied and the winner announced OOCly and ICly on the 1st, giving you two weeks to enter, discuss the entries amongst your neighbors, and vote. The winner will receive a special animal never before seen on the island. There’s only one of it in existence!

all hallows' eve

As the end of Fall nears and Winter approaches, the residents of Crescentview Town have begun setting out carved gourds on their porches and handing out unique handmade candies to the farmers on Fall 30th, otherwise known as All Hallows’ Eve. The bar has also begun selling hot pumpkin spice lattes that leave you feeling a bit sassier than usual.

It is said that the souls of the dearly departed roam the island during late Fall in search of their final resting places. The townsfolk carve gourds in order to house these wandering souls and allow them to rest before venturing on in search of a permanent home. These carved gourds glow with an eerie blue light when occupied with the souls of the dead... according to the townsfolk, anyway.

It is recommended that farmers use pumpkins from last month’s harvest to carve their lanterns. Otherwise, a variety of small gourds can be purchased from the grocer’s. Candy and other sweet treats can also be purchased here if you wish to participate in the tradition of handing out candy on the 30th. Additionally, the candy distributed by the townfolk might leave you feeling scared and in need of comfort if consumed on the 30th. Spoopy.

thar be pirates

Remember the strange ship circling the coast? The one that is quite obviously a pirate ship? Yeah. Coming as a shock to absolutely no one, that ship has anchored at the beach and unloaded its gaggle of 100 pirates onto the shore, and the pirates waste no time heading into town to cause commotion and trashing, raiding, and pilfering farmer’s fields.

The level of damage wrought to your farm and the items taken is up to player discretion. The pirates are looking for fresh fruits and vegetables to take back to their ship and aren’t above using force and underhanded tactics to get them. It’s quite possible that, if aggressed, they won’t hesitate to attack farmers and villagers. If you give them what they want, the damage done to your farm may be minimal, but if you refuse, prepare for a fight!

The pirates will continue to take to the streets and ravage the island at random from Fall 18th to Fall 30th. Characters may attempt to deal with the problem on their own, partner up with their neighbors, hold town councils to arrange a larger-scale effort to thwart the pirates, etc. This is a very loose and open-ended event, but if your characters want to coordinate a special effort to deal with the pirates that require mod input, please give us a poke through the questions toplevel below. Additionally, the Goddess can be contacted ICly for assistance.

The task board is located in Town Square and changes from season to season. In real time, a season is one month long. The following tasks are available from February 1st to March 1st and more tasks may be added mid-month.

Certain rewards are only available through event participation, so please keep this in mind when planning your threads. Multiple tasks may be completed within a single thread, but when turning in, please link to the individual tags in which each task was completed.

Finally, rewards are per character, not per farm, so those with housemates may want to coordinate with one another with regard to what animals you’re bringing home to your farm.

This month’s current tasks are as follows. New additions have been highlighted in red.

1. Distribute your special chocolates. Fall is the season of love and thankfulness. Share the chocolates the Goddess gave you with your friends and neighbors to receive 1 random fall crop seed. This task can be completed 10 times.

2. Express your appreciation for your neighbors. Tell your friends you care for them, give them a hug, make them a warm meal. No matter how it is you show your appreciation for the people around you, ‘tis the season to make sure they know it. Complete this task a total of 10 times for 1 random fall flower bag.

3. Go foraging. Bushes producing blueberries, blackberries and raspberries can be found in the foothills and are prime for the picking in fall, but be careful: you might get a mild case of poisoning if you don’t know what you’re looking for!

You can also pick bioluminescent mushrooms in the forest and seashells at the beach to complete this task. You will earn 2 random bags of fall mushroom spores with each submission and you may complete this task a total of 5 times.

4. Check out Dulces Sueños Resort. Travel there alone or with a friend for 1 cow, sheep, alpaca or goat of your choice. This task can be completed once and can be combined with tasks 6 and 7.

5. Contribute an item to the community pot. Throw in an item of your choice, but be warned: the Goddess might punish you if she catches you throwing in any garbage or dirty work boots. Complete this task once to receive a rabbit or chicken of your choice for your coop.

6. Share a memory with someone else. Spend the night at Dulces Sueños Resort with a friend. As you rest, you’ll exchange a single memory with the person sleeping beside you. You can complete this task to receive a Buff Fairy contract that summons a single Buff Fairy to work the farm, harvest and water crops, feed and brush animals, etc. You can complete this task a total of 3 times. That's three times the buff fairies!

7. Feel another person’s emotions. Visit the island and soak in its waters with another person. Doing so will allow you to feel what the other person is feeling. This task can be completed 3 times and each completion rewards you with a Diva Fairy contract. These fairies in their little designer heels are quite sassy, but they'll cook, clean, and do whatever work around the house that you demand of them.

8. Submit an Islekea furniture set. Islekea’s application process has been streamlined and simplified! Applications are now free to submit and you may choose a maximum of of 5 items to supply in a set regardless of which room in the house they suit best. Submit an application to complete this task and earn a wardrobe containing 4 outfits from home. This task can be completed once.

9. Carve a gourd for All Hallows' Eve. Those lost, wandering souls need a lovingly carved gourd to roost in. Get together with your friends to carve a spooktastic gourd to set on your porch and earn a Halloween costume to go wandering around in and scaring your neighbors with. When submitting this task, tell us if you want a specific costume or if you'd like us to choose one for you.

10. Participate in the animal exhibition. Submit your finest barn or coop animal to be presented on the main stage in this year’s animal exhibition. All participants will be presented with the Animal breeding 101 guide and a specialized breeding kit that will allow them to breed their animals. The winner will recieve a rare and unique animal of which only one exists. This task can only be completed once.

local happenings

The Crescentview Times newspaper has chronicled the latest happenings around the island. A physical copy of the paper will arrive on your doorstep early in the morning on Fall 1st.

The Library's shelves have been stocked with a slew of new additions. You may learn something interesting! As they say, knowledge is power.

The sound of church bells can be heard ringing distantly throughout the island. It's tradition for couples to marry on the eve of the new year on Crescentview Isle, so it may be no coincidence that the Fall wind is tickling the bells tucked high up in the church's steeple.

NPC - HARVEST GODDESS

[ The goddess will be available from her pond in the forest with an offering and a prayer as usual at any time. In the early mornings, she can be seen in the town, checking up on the citizens of Crescentview.

She can also be asked for assistance regarding pirates. Just put in the usual offerings and such at her pond.

She is still up for sparring! Groups or 1v1 is all good. Everyone will be healed at the end regardless of what injury they received during the spar. Just offer a glove into the pond if your character wants to have a sparring session with her. ]

( Since she seemed receptive to the presentation style last time, Mishka's offering this time is glazed lemon bread with edible flowers quilting the glaze, in a basket of little flowers. It's incredibly sweet, but good for those who like sweet things.

He sets the basket down on the water's surface, and lets it sink in with a prayer.

(Also possibly, he has been here a couple times already to toss the boxing glove in to get the violence out of his system and presumably get slapped around, if that's handwavable, hopefully I'll have the time to thread that out at some point,) )

[ The presentation style is definitely the way to go with the goddess, because when she rises out of the pond as usual, her eyes seem to be bright as she eats one. ]

I have been looking forward to your offerings lately, dear. This one is simply perfect.

[ Whether it's a nice offering like this or him asking to spar, the goddess has been enjoying it very much (so yes! multiple spar sessions can be handwaved). Just know that if Mishka tried to use his bugs in a very overwhelming way, the goddess would have used reinforced stalks of fresh peppermint as dual-swords and probably drown them with large amounts of water. ]

Mishka probably learned his lesson after the first wave of bugs died, mostly because there's no sense trying to do something that won't work and will just kill them all anyway. but yay! I'm glad it's to your taste, though I'm afraid I don't know how well you like sweets. I think I'm getting a better sense of your aesthetics, at least.

( One fateful Summer's day, a certain Ragnvindr and a certain Outrider had "relations" with each other. An occasion that left Amber feeling ... a little bit anxious, actually!!!!! She knows how babies are made. She knows where they come from. And so ... naturally, after this incident with Diluc, she has some questions for the Goddess of this world.

Seeking out the Goddess in town would be out of the question. No one else can know about this! Which is why she has decided to venture to her pond for a little bit of privacy. She didn't come up empty-handed, though - she has brought an offering with her of miscellaneous summer vegetables and fruits from hers and Mishka's farm, arranged in a bouquet with flowers. Hopefully the Goddess likes flowers ...

Amber lays down the offering and clasps her hands together in prayer. "I have a question, O Almighty Goddess of the Harvest...!" )

[ She sure loke flowers. When the offerings are presented with a prayer, the goddess rises from the pond complrtely dry with the offerings in her arms. ]

( Amber squeaks in surprise when the Goddess emerges, with an immediate flood of scarlet burning across her cheeks. Honestly, it's not the sight of the Goddess that's made her jump, it's the fact that she's now faced with asking her The Thing That She's Been Meaning To Ask. This seemed so much easier in her head than in reality. Help. )

I-I--! Well, uh ... you see, um ... ( The woman sways with both hands behind her back. Oh, she's shy ... which is a rare case for Amber. But being from Mondstadt where everyone kisses the ground that Barbatos walks on, she doesn't want to show any disrespect to a God. She needs to suck it up and ask her! )

So, I was wondering ... let's say ... there's this girl, and she had, um ... relations with a man ... ( She's absolutely nailing this so far, isn't she? ) They did ... ( She closes both of her palms together. You know. Surely you know what she means, Goddess ) An act of ... intimacy with each other.

W-What I'm trying to say is, well, uh ... ( fidget fidget. )

Is it possible that while here, in this place, a woman ... or not just any woman. Me, to be specific ...

[ Flowers are nice, especially since they're of his harvest. The goddess rises from the pond, completely dry, yada yada. You know the drill, but she's here with the flowers in her hand. ]

[ He wants to be absolutely sure of this clause. ]

And if we don't have to get married... say I want someone to go back with me. Do we need to be married then?

Of course. I've said that from the very beginning. If you don't get married, you won't be able to return.

[ Since they need to get married, she sees no reason to answer Gaku's second question. ]

[Mid-late in the month Syrlya swings by the pond and offers a vibrant bouquet of fall flowers, and a bowl of rice with chopped mango. Which is all awfully ornate coming from Syrlya, who never comes to ask for things.

But this is very serious, so he waits for her to reveal herself.]

[ Color the goddess surprised when she sees Syrlya with these offerings. She's holding them as she stands on top of the water. Rice with mango? That's a new one for her. ]

What is it, child? Have you decided to relieve your stress upon me once more?

[He likes mango... he's giving her what he thinks is the best fruit possible.]

No. I understand that once we fulfill our 'marriage' obligation that we will be released back to our worlds. I'm sure you know enough about us to realize that for some people, that is a curse and not a blessing.

I need to know what it would take to allow two people to leave to another world instead. Tyria, specifically, if it matters at all.

[ What a nice gift. She will eat it well. The offerings disappear from her arms so that she can focus on Syrlya better without having to hold things. ]

After you are married, you are free to go wherever you'd like.

[ She thinks this answers what Syrlya wants to know. ]

"Return" is often mentioned since that is what most people seem to want. However, I know that there are people who would rather not return to the place they were brought from.

[ Near the end of the season, Lucia and Noe approach the goddess with an offering: A basket of mushrooms and a bowl of some of Lucia's homemade chowder. She looks over at Noe with a little smile, and then back at the pond. She'll wait patiently for the goddess to reveal herself, and she'll reach for Noe's hand in the meantime. There's something they'd like to discuss with her. ]

[ After making an offering himself—it's nothing much compared to Lucia's cooking, but he's brought some apples in a basket (googly-eyes free)—Noé stands next to Lucia and squeezes her hand lightly, hoping that the Goddess will find some time for them. ]

[ The offerings sink into the pond and the goddess rises from the pond as she always does, holding the baskets with her arms and holding the bowl of chowder in her hands. Delicious. After she gets settled and stands on the surface of the water, she makes all the offerings disappear. ]

Hello, dears. What would you like to ask of me?

[ There she is. Lucia watches as the offerings sink, and when the goddess emerges, she lets out a quiet gasp. It's a marvelous display, and she's come to respect the goddess despite what divine beings back in her home have been like. ]

H-hello. Um... Noé and I are here, because we wanted to ask you a question. We'd like to get married, but not at the expense of us being forced to go back home, and...we quite like it here, so...

[ She looks at him, wondering if she did an ample job at summarizing their situation. ]
