prologue

You awake to find yourself in a bed that creaks with your every movement, motes of dust flitting about the sparsely lit room. Whether you wake alone or with another by your side, you exit the worn-down building to find yourself on an old, abandoned farm. It isn’t long before a familiar voice lilts in your ears, carried to you on the breeze—

“Hurry over to the town square. Chop chop!”

Whether you go willingly or find your feet inexplicably compelled to trudge into town makes no difference. Once you arrive, you find yourself surrounded by a small ocean of new faces— some confused, some angered, and others quite chipper. At the center of the crowd is a bright-eyed woman with an otherworldly allure, her white hair tied up neatly in a bun, pamphlets and assorted papers tucked in her grasp.

“Welcome to Crescentview, farmers!”

Spreading her arms out wide — as much as she can without her papers blowing away — she eagerly regales the crowd with some fun facts about the island and the town while also reminding everyone of one very important fact:

“Remember, you’ve been brought here to tend the earth, fall in love, and begin your new lives together. You’re not leaving until you do. It will be quite the experience for you, I’m sure.”

Complain, grouse, or rejoice if you like, but don’t expect the Goddess to budge. Oh, right, there’s that too: she, the Harvest Goddess, is the one presiding over this land. Don’t get on my bad side, she gently warns as she stuffs pamphlets into the hands of Crescentview’s aspiring farmers.

While you’re here, you may as well check out the pamphlet the Goddess insistently pressed into your hands. Within it, you’ll find a handy infographic on each of your neighbors detailing their likes, dislikes, and... ideal dates? Even the Goddess’ profile is there. How invasive! Each farmer’s picture is hand-drawn by crayon into simple stick figures with the only difference being how the hair looks on top of their heads… if it can be called hair with the mess of crayons, that is. Every single stick figure is smiling. In front of each personalized pamphlet, there’s a stick figure on the cover with the same style as the photo. It’s definitely yours with how the hair color seamlessly matches yours. For the ones who have multicolor hair, you might notice the goddess seems a little more huffy with you.

The pamphlet also includes a map of Crescentview and lists the services available in town. There aren’t many on this small, remote island. Learning how to fend for yourself seems like the best course of action. Finally, a hand-printed bingo card has been made up for each new island resident. The Goddess must have spent quite a bit of time making these...

The Goddess gives her new questionably loyal followers a chance to mingle and mix before speaking up with another announcement. A small group of haggard-looking fairies appear at her feet, and clapping her hands, a notice board springs into existence. When the fairies fail to react, she gives one a nudge with her foot, prompting them all to burst into the world’s smallest round of applause. It’s a little... pathetic.

“Ta-da! Behold: the task board. Every season, I’ll give you new tasks to complete, and in exchange, you’ll be richly blessed by me, the Harvest Goddess. Spring is the season of new beginnings, so let’s take a look at what we’ve got cooking, hm?”

The task board is located in Town Square and changes from season to season. In real time, a season is one month long. The following tasks are available from December 1st to January 1st and more tasks may be added mid-month.

Certain rewards are only available through event participation, so please keep this in mind when planning your threads. Multiple tasks may be completed within a single thread, but when turning in, please link to the individual tags in which each task was completed.

Finally, rewards are per character, not per farm, so those with housemates may want to coordinate with one another with regard to what animals you’re bringing home to your farm.

1. Greet your neighbors. For every person you meet, you will be given a random bag of spring seeds. Potato, cabbage, turnip, strawberry, and cucumber seeds are available at this time. Alternatively, random mushroom spores are also available. These include morel, matsutake, and common white mushroom spores. This task can be completed a total of 10 times for rewards. Please specify how much of each you would like when submitting your threads, i.e. “I’d like 5 random spring seed bags and 5 random mushroom bags, please!”

2. Exchange names. Start learning some names and faces: you’ll be seeing a lot of these folks! For each name you learn, you’ll earn a random bag of spring flower seeds. Daffodil, tulip, forget-me-not, primrose, and hyacinth are available this season. This task can be completed a total of 10 times for rewards, and yes, you can cheat the system and introduce yourself to someone you already know, but the Goddess won’t like it.

3. Check out your new farm. Take a look around and settle in! After a bit of wandering, you’ll notice a small cat or dog following you around and looking up at you with them big ol’ eyes. Looks like it wants to stay with you, but will you adopt it? This task can be completed once.

4. Till your field and begin planting. Find the beat up farming tools in your beat up house and begin beating your farmland into submission. Plant some seeds and be rewarded by the Goddess with a single chicken or rabbit to keep in your coop. This task can be completed once.

5. Visit another farm. Pay one of your neighbors a visit to receive a stationary set blessed by the Goddess herself. There are no cell phones or Internet on the island, so get used to sending all your “LOL”s and “XDDDD”s by hand. This task can be completed once.

6. Make a new friend. Isn’t friendship wonderful? For each person you proclaim to be your friend, you will receive two random gacha items. This task can be completed 3 times.

7. Pray to the Goddess. Whether you do so grudgingly or willingly doesn’t matter much to her so long as you’re doing it! Clasp your hands together and bow your head or throw an offering into her pond— she’ll hear you either way. Praying to the Goddess will net you a barn animal of your choosing: a cow, sheep, alpaca, or goat. This task may be completed once.

Caution: throwing certain items into her pond may have consequences. Choose your offerings wisely.

[ It's only been less than an hour since his argument with Diluc. It still hangs in the back of his mind, even as he fetched Ellis and have been wandering through the forest. He's been rather quiet, less playful, so there's certainly something off about him. ]

This looks like a good spot, don't you think?

[ There's a clearing with nothing to really bother them. Well, except bears. ]

[framestory]

[ Sometimes, Ellis wonders if Kaeya is plotting to kill him for some reason. He has a wild imagination, unfortunately. So when Kaeya asks that, Ellis just nods. A good place for murder? A sacrifice to the goddess? Maybe.

Just kidding. He thinks it's a great spot for camping and wonders if Kaeya brought anything with him... ]

[calla]

[ Kaeya has!! brought very little with him because he only recently stormed out of his house, taking only his jacket and fur boa with him. He did stop by the market to pick up a few picnic blankets so they at least don't sleep on the ground, but he hasn't brought much more. ]

[ Did Ellis bring anything... ]

[framestory]

[ He was in the middle of a walk when Kaeya found him, so he only has some fruits he got from the grocery store. He holds out some apples and oranges.

So, no. He doesn't have jack shit. ]

[calla]

[ Oh, yummy. At least they have food, though Kaeya isn't very hungry. Honestly, he could go for a drink instead. Maybe he should have brought some alcohol too. Well, looking at the apples and oranges, he nods then starts to set out one of the blankets on the ground. ]

Are you prone to getting cold?

[framestory]

[ Ellis thinks so, but he has his powers so he doesn't have to worry about it. That's why he shakes his head no and then goes to Kaeya's side to hug him. This is what he's trying to ask, right? About how he's cold so obviously they need to share body heat!! Or something.

Ellis just made all that up in his head. ]

[calla]

[ Okay, that gets a small smile out of Kaeya because what's with the sudden hugging? ]

Did we not already complete the 'hug' square on your card?

[framestory]

[ He mimics a gesture that is a burning fire, but coming from Kaeya in an attempt to convey warmth. He's free to misinterpret that as he wants, since he just got out of an argument with a fire person. Good thing Ellis can still see Kaeya's mouth from where he is. ]

[calla]

[ He misinterprets it as Ellis being cold! So hmm, a campfire? ]

I can build us a fire. I assure you that it'd be much warmer than me, but you're free to continue hugging if you'd like.

[ He would normally tease more about it, but he's still in a Bad Mood and he can only cover it up so much while the wound is still fresh. ]

[framestory]

[ He thought Kaeya would tease him more about it, so he wonders if there's something on Kaeya's mind. How he behaved earlier is a pretty dead giveaway too. He doesn't know Kaeya that well, but it just seems off based on his previous interactions. He writes in Kaeya's palm though: ]

Are you okay? Do you feel bad? I can make that go away.

[calla]

[ Oh, is it that obvious? Hmm, Kaeya's not the type to wear his emotions on his sleeve, much less allow others to take notice of them, so he's quick to try and cover up. ]

Are you going to kiss me until I feel better?

[framestory]

[ ... ... ...

Ellis slowly lifts Kaeya's hand since he was writing on his palm and kisses the back of it. Yes, he's still hugging. Also, yes. He channels his invisible stability power through that kiss to Kaeya, but it's not strong. Does Kaeya feel a little calmer? Or no because I can still be cockblocked by player permission. ]

[calla]

[ Oh, it does. Kaeya has no idea what he feels a bit calmer, a little less upset, but maybe because he's distracted by Ellis actually showing him physical affection. Huh. ]

You'd have to kiss me a lot more than that until I'm better.

[framestory]

[ uuuuuuuuuuu you spoiled knight child--Ellis pulls his collar to give him a kiss on the cheek. There's some more stabilization flowing into Kaeya, but in very small doses. ]

[calla]

[ Kaeya still doesn't quite understand what this calming effect is, but he assumes that it's just that sweet ol' hurt/comfort that he needs. Since Ellis kissed him on the cheek and hand, maybe next is... a kiss on the lips? ]

These lips are yours for the taking.

[framestory]

[ Ellis looks at him with a seemingly sheepish smile and just outright refuses with a small pinch to the nose. No lip kisses, Kaeya, but Ellis hopes he feels a little better, and maybe good enough for him to talk about it. Ellis lets go of Kaeya from the hug and sits on the blanket Kaeya set on the ground. ]

[calla]

[ He does feel better, but he's a little disappointed that there are no more kisses. Hey, he was liking that affection :( ]

Tease.

[ He'll sit down on the blanket too and reach over to grab another one so he can drape it around Ellis' shoulders. He then grabs another to also drape it across Ellis' lap. There, warm. ]

[framestory]

[ Oh. He crawls so that he can sit next to Kaeya so that he can share both blankets around their shoulders and laps.

Cozy. ]

[calla]

[ Oh, very cozy. Kaeya appreciates that Ellis has been nothing but kind and considerate tonight. For that, maybe Kaeya will engage in a bit of a serious talk with him. ]

Mind if I ask you a question?

[framestory]

[ Ellis tilts his head, keeping his eye on Kaeya's face so that he can do lots of lip reading. Go ahead, man. ]

[calla]

If you were given those "smut" squares, would you?

[ He has a bit of a hard time imagining Ellis being dtf, but who knows, maybe he would be. ]

[framestory]

[ ... ... ...

Ellis's face finally turns red and his head practically turns into a tomato with a white wig. Good job, Kaeya. He holds up a hand as if to say that he needs a moment to think about this. ]

[calla]

[ Although asking that question only brings back terrible feelings, like a hot knife in his gut, at the reminder of what just occurred an hour ago, Ellis' reaction does bring a small smile to Kaeya's face. It's okay, dude, take your time. ]

[framestory]

[ He takes at least a minute to calm down without his own powers at work, and starts writing on his notepad. I forgot if the fire was on or if it isn't. Either way, Ellis will make it easy for Kaeya to see what wrote: ]

I think that depends. If I had one, I would probably try to put it off until it's the only one left.

[ He doesn't know that there's a limit of four smut squares per card, so he just thinks... what if one of those cards had ten smut prompts? ]

If I had more and if I needed to do one to get a line of bingo, then I guess I would do it. Having a comfortable time here is really important to me.

[ He debates writing the next thing after a moment of hesitation, but he'll write it anyway. ]

I don't have anywhere else to go.

[calla]

[ wtf this line of conversation got sad all of a sudden. Kaeya's anger begins to settle as he reads Ellis' last line twice. ]

... then it's fortunate that you didn't get such squares, isn't it? [ It's a shame that Ellis can't hear that Kaeya's tone got softer, but maybe he can see it through body language instead. ] If you need help with your bingo card, just let me know whenever.
