prologue

You awake to find yourself in a bed that creaks with your every movement, motes of dust flitting about the sparsely lit room. Whether you wake alone or with another by your side, you exit the worn-down building to find yourself on an old, abandoned farm. It isn’t long before a familiar voice lilts in your ears, carried to you on the breeze—

“Hurry over to the town square. Chop chop!”

Whether you go willingly or find your feet inexplicably compelled to trudge into town makes no difference. Once you arrive, you find yourself surrounded by a small ocean of new faces— some confused, some angered, and others quite chipper. At the center of the crowd is a bright-eyed woman with an otherworldly allure, her white hair tied up neatly in a bun, pamphlets and assorted papers tucked in her grasp.

“Welcome to Crescentview, farmers!”

Spreading her arms out wide — as much as she can without her papers blowing away — she eagerly regales the crowd with some fun facts about the island and the town while also reminding everyone of one very important fact:

“Remember, you’ve been brought here to tend the earth, fall in love, and begin your new lives together. You’re not leaving until you do. It will be quite the experience for you, I’m sure.”

Complain, grouse, or rejoice if you like, but don’t expect the Goddess to budge. Oh, right, there’s that too: she, the Harvest Goddess, is the one presiding over this land. Don’t get on my bad side, she gently warns as she stuffs pamphlets into the hands of Crescentview’s aspiring farmers.

While you’re here, you may as well check out the pamphlet the Goddess insistently pressed into your hands. Within it, you’ll find a handy infographic on each of your neighbors detailing their likes, dislikes, and... ideal dates? Even the Goddess’ profile is there. How invasive! Each farmer’s picture is hand-drawn by crayon into simple stick figures with the only difference being how the hair looks on top of their heads… if it can be called hair with the mess of crayons, that is. Every single stick figure is smiling. In front of each personalized pamphlet, there’s a stick figure on the cover with the same style as the photo. It’s definitely yours with how the hair color seamlessly matches yours. For the ones who have multicolor hair, you might notice the goddess seems a little more huffy with you.

The pamphlet also includes a map of Crescentview and lists the services available in town. There aren’t many on this small, remote island. Learning how to fend for yourself seems like the best course of action. Finally, a hand-printed bingo card has been made up for each new island resident. The Goddess must have spent quite a bit of time making these...

The Goddess gives her new questionably loyal followers a chance to mingle and mix before speaking up with another announcement. A small group of haggard-looking fairies appear at her feet, and clapping her hands, a notice board springs into existence. When the fairies fail to react, she gives one a nudge with her foot, prompting them all to burst into the world’s smallest round of applause. It’s a little... pathetic.

“Ta-da! Behold: the task board. Every season, I’ll give you new tasks to complete, and in exchange, you’ll be richly blessed by me, the Harvest Goddess. Spring is the season of new beginnings, so let’s take a look at what we’ve got cooking, hm?”

The task board is located in Town Square and changes from season to season. In real time, a season is one month long. The following tasks are available from December 1st to January 1st and more tasks may be added mid-month.

Certain rewards are only available through event participation, so please keep this in mind when planning your threads. Multiple tasks may be completed within a single thread, but when turning in, please link to the individual tags in which each task was completed.

Finally, rewards are per character, not per farm, so those with housemates may want to coordinate with one another with regard to what animals you’re bringing home to your farm.

1. Greet your neighbors. For every person you meet, you will be given a random bag of spring seeds. Potato, cabbage, turnip, strawberry, and cucumber seeds are available at this time. Alternatively, random mushroom spores are also available. These include morel, matsutake, and common white mushroom spores. This task can be completed a total of 10 times for rewards. Please specify how much of each you would like when submitting your threads, i.e. “I’d like 5 random spring seed bags and 5 random mushroom bags, please!”

2. Exchange names. Start learning some names and faces: you’ll be seeing a lot of these folks! For each name you learn, you’ll earn a random bag of spring flower seeds. Daffodil, tulip, forget-me-not, primrose, and hyacinth are available this season. This task can be completed a total of 10 times for rewards, and yes, you can cheat the system and introduce yourself to someone you already know, but the Goddess won’t like it.

3. Check out your new farm. Take a look around and settle in! After a bit of wandering, you’ll notice a small cat or dog following you around and looking up at you with them big ol’ eyes. Looks like it wants to stay with you, but will you adopt it? This task can be completed once.

4. Till your field and begin planting. Find the beat up farming tools in your beat up house and begin beating your farmland into submission. Plant some seeds and be rewarded by the Goddess with a single chicken or rabbit to keep in your coop. This task can be completed once.

5. Visit another farm. Pay one of your neighbors a visit to receive a stationary set blessed by the Goddess herself. There are no cell phones or Internet on the island, so get used to sending all your “LOL”s and “XDDDD”s by hand. This task can be completed once.

6. Make a new friend. Isn’t friendship wonderful? For each person you proclaim to be your friend, you will receive two random gacha items. This task can be completed 3 times.

7. Pray to the Goddess. Whether you do so grudgingly or willingly doesn’t matter much to her so long as you’re doing it! Clasp your hands together and bow your head or throw an offering into her pond— she’ll hear you either way. Praying to the Goddess will net you a barn animal of your choosing: a cow, sheep, alpaca, or goat. This task may be completed once.

Caution: throwing certain items into her pond may have consequences. Choose your offerings wisely.

[Kaeya's acting like an even bigger baby than usual, which is saying something. Diluc works the bathroom door open with his foot.]

You talk as if you despise him. For all I know, you gave into one of his taunts and paid the price.

Then I would have taken the loss with grace rather than act like the grump that I currently am.

[ ... some of that truth is starting to leak out ]

[shh it's too late to make uwu happen, maybe they bullied crow on different days]

[Might as well ask while Kaeya's in a shockingly honest mood. That must be another of the curses the goddess laid on him, but just how many did she give him? Sighing, he sits Kaeya on the edge of the tub.]

Can you draw your own bath? Thanks to you, the floor needs to be mopped.

[Kaeya managed to get himself home, so surely...?]

I'll manage.

[ He would perhaps say thanks, but he doesn't feel like it so no thanks from him! He'll sit on the edge of the tub and start to strip. He can at least do that, but you know what's going to happen, he's going to slip in the tub and knock himself out. ]

[pyronic]

[Diluc leaves the bathroom to start mopping the floor when he hears a clunk. God dammit, Kaeya. Trudging back over to the bathroom, he brusquely knocks.]

Is all well, Sir Kaeya?

[Stop bothering him, you've done that enough for one day!!]

[calla]

[ No!!!!!! i'm going to say that he's knocked out in the tub with his tits out because he started to take off whatever the fuck he wears on top but then slipped so ]

[ come in and see those fat titties ]

[It's fine. Diluc is immune to Kaeya titties, but are his pants still on? Be merciful...........

Anyway, with a heavy sigh, Diluc pushes his way in to see Kaeya's knocked himself unconscious. This is what he feared, but sitting Kaeya up and supporting his weight against his shoulder, he's relieved to find he isn't bleeding from his big dumb head. One less thing to worry about.]

Come on, Kaeya.

[Diluc claps his cheeks (THE ONES ON HIS FACE, ICHI) firmly in an effort to wake him up.]

[ why can't he slap those other cheeks :( if he did, i would have gladly said that his pants are off but alas they are on ]

[ A few firm claps are enough to get Kaeya to wake up, but oh man, his head is killing him. It is absolutely pounding, so it takes him an extra few seconds to reboot and figure out what happened moments ago. ]

... willing to bathe me too? You're too generous.

[pyronic]

Are you giving me any choice?

[If he leaves Kaeya to his own devices a second time, he's just going to end up concussing himself. Still, this is the last place he wants to be, and staring down the barrel of having to help Kaeya out of his pants and into the bath? Shoot him.

If Diluc is hesitating, it's only because he can't believe his life has come to this. He's staring at Kaeya's pants, but ???]

I can't make heads or tails of your outfit. At this rate, it would be quicker to wash you in your clothing.

[calla]

[ ... Kaeya was just joking, damn, he didn't know that Diluc wanted him out of his pants that badly. He is giving Diluc a choice!! It's fine, just leave, he'll give himself a concussion and it'll be fine!! Better than getting naked in front of him. ]

Are you really that eager to see me naked? Sorry, but I'd rather risk another fall than to bear myself to you.

[ don't ask him why ]

[wow, someone's insecure about his small 🍆]

I have no interest in seeing your naked body, but need I remind you that you foolishly went and provoked the Goddess only to end up unable to walk straight or tell a lie? You did this to yourself.

[He's trying to prevent you from injuring yourself, stupid Kaeya. He'd much rather not see his naked body if at all possible, but gestures broadly at all the options they don't have.]

[calla]

[ he's tossing diluc into the pond too ]

I'd still rather fall and get a concussion while trying to undress myself rather than have you assist.

[ He feels very strong about this!! ]

[pyronic]

[Clearly he does, but the honesty really does take Diluc aback. What has he ever done to Kaeya to make him feel so... unsafe around him? Diluc can't imagine it being anything but, and realizing that frustrates him even more.]

Idiot. Why do you take such issue with me helping you?

[calla]

[ Kaeya is conflicted. Anything that he says will be a truth. He can't fib anything, and he doesn't want to risk saying something that he doesn't. ]

... I don't want to say.

[pyronic]

[...It's not as if he wouldn't pull the truth out of Kaeya — all of it — if he knew he could stand to hear it. Some might look upon Kaeya's state as a golden opportunity to finally make an honest man of him, but not Diluc.

He hears the reluctance in Kaeya's voice and his stomach twists, realizing something important: it's not as if he doesn't want to know the truth, but that he isn't ready for it. He wasn't ready for it the night Father died and Kaeya admitted he'd been planted in his family as a spy. He isn't ready for it now, whatever it may be, so he leans Kaeya back against the wall and removes himself from his side.]

I'll leave a change of clothes for you outside.

[Even if Kaeya wanted his help, Diluc can't offer it to him now. With that, he steps out of the bathroom and shuts the door behind him.]

[calla]

[ Although Kaeya is relieved that Diluc doesn't push him to speak, he feels the guilt bubbling up within him. It's not as if he actively goes out of his way to lie to Diluc, to hide things away from him, but this is one subject matter that he really wants to avoid. Just like his past secrets, he's too cowardly to come out with it, so he holds his tongue instead. ]

[ He somehow manages to undress and take a bath without drowning or bashing his head in. There are a few close calls, but he makes it out without any injuries. He even manages to get his clothes on, so with that success, he walks out into the main room. His hair is still damp, and he has chosen to keep his eyepatch off (he never takes it off for anyone else), so he drips as he makes way to the dining table. ]

Thanks.

[ He mumbles as he pulls out a chair, but he does it too abruptly. It goes tumbling over with a loud thud. ]

[pyronic]

[The heat has gone out of Diluc and all the emotion with it. He's effectively distanced himself from those discomforting feelings to focus on getting dinner on the table, rearranging his evening so he can ensure Kaeya doesn't cause any more problems than he already has. In a word, he's worried.

Ever the forward thinker, he has a towel slung over his shoulder when Kaeya emerges from the bathroom. As he suspected, his attempts to dress and dry himself were shoddy at best, but what more can he do in his condition? Speaking of... Thump. Exiting the kitchen with a quiet sigh, he hauls Kaeya upright and seats him in the chair, draping that towel over his head to fluff his hair dry.]

Dinner is steak and vegetable medley. If the meat isn't cooked to your liking, you're going to have to deal with it.

[He'd have prepared a soup as well, but considering the condition Kaeya is in, anything he's liable to spill is a no go. Instead, Kaeya's steak has been cut into pieces for him and his vegetables similarly portioned out.]

[calla]

[ If these curses weren't around, Kaeya would have considered this to be a relatively nice evening. He gets cooked dinner and it's cut for him? Wow, talk about pampering. Unfortunately, these curses are around, so alas, he has to deal with being treated like a child. ]

My, you'd make a fine wife if you weren't so grumpy all the time.

[ Although still in a bad mood, he tries to swing back to his usual annoyingly teasing and playful attitude to completely ignore what happened earlier in the bathroom. ]

[pyronic]

[Wife... He'd ask if one of those curses made him belt out nonsense, but Kaeya does that on a regular basis, so it's waved off easily enough. Diluc takes his seat across from Kaeya.]

Shut up and eat.

[No mincing words with Kaeya. He'd cooked the steaks medium rare and finds his own to his liking, but he's silently eyeing Kaeya for his appraisal.]

[calla]

[ Even though he's being told to shut up, Kaeya can't help but smile. Oh Diluc, always so grumpy and a buzzkill. ]

Why? Is that not a compliment?

[ He's eating! He seems relatively pleased with the meal, as he isn't complaining about it and just shoving it in his big piehole instead. ]

[pyronic]

Of course it isn't. Men aren't wives.

[And he's not interested in being your husband either, Kaeya!! Diluc is rather pleased with the meal himself, but he's not interested in patting his own back.]

[calla]

Aren't you a narrow-minded. Then would it be more appropriate if I called you a good househusband?

[ He speaks in between bites. ]

[pyronic]

That implies I would ever marry, Sir Kaeya.

[And that's all that needs to be said, surely. Kaeya's known him long enough to know he has no intention of settling down. Perhaps he did as a youth, but life changes. People change.]
