dec mid-month event.
mid-month event
With Crescentview’s newest citizens settling nicely, the Goddess has summoned everyone back to Town Square for another round of announcements. This time, her summons comes to you in the form of a hand-written note. If you happen to be out working in your field, one of her fairies will hand it directly to you, looking a little more sprightly than they did the first time you saw them. Otherwise, expect to find her request/demand to meet up in Town Square in your mailbox.
introducing: the memo board
The Memo Board is now available in Town Square. You may post messages here to your fellow neighbors, send out requests for assistance on the farm, or even solicit local singles for hot dates! Post whatever you like whenever you like. You can even post messages to the board anonymously if you so desire. The Memo Board is available here.
But wait, there’s more! The Goddess has given everyone a fun relationship-building exercise. How well do you know your neighbors? Can you identify them based on their writing alone?
By December 22nd - 12:00pm EST, please have your character submit an anonymous message to be posted to the Memo Board. Their message can be about anything they’d like and there is no length requirement or restrictions. After submissions have been received, characters will be given an opportunity to review everyone’s messages and guess which character wrote which memo. Answers will be revealed on December 29th - 12:00pm EST. A single correct guess will earn you a horse while each additional correct guess will net you a vegetable, flower, or mushroom spore seed bag of your choice. Good luck and have fun!
it's time to dance!
Every Spring 15th, the annual Flower Dance is held in Town Square. Villagers gather to dance with one another and celebrate the upcoming harvest and offer their prayers to the Goddess. Folks are encouraged to dance not just with those they fancy, but their fellow neighbors as a way to express gratitude and appreciation for the friendship and company they provide.
ICly, the dance takes place on Spring 15th and goes from 9am to 9pm.
task board
In addition to the tasks currently available on the Task Board, a handful of new additions have been added. You may continue to work on tasks from the previous event in addition to these new tasks, but please note that tasks may only be completed within the month they are assigned. Summer starts next month, so please have all of your tasks completed and submitted by then!
The new additions are as follows:
1. Post a notice on the Memo Board. Stick up an anonymous memo and earn a single chicken or rabbit to add to your coop. You may post as many notices as you like, but you will only redeem the reward once.
2. Correctly guess who posted a memo. Discuss these anonymous notes with one another and guess who may be the author. Between December 22nd and December 29th, submit your IC votes (link coming on the 22nd) and if you guess correctly, even just once, you will get a horse! You may guess as many times as you like, but you may only redeem this reward once.
3. Partake in the Flower Dance. Pick a partner for a round of dancing, pray to the Goddess, or just celebrate the good times! For every person that you celebrate the event with, you will receive a random bag of seeds of fruits, vegetables, flowers, or mushroom spores. This task can be completed 5 times.
4. Send a letter to your neighbor. This requires you to have acquired the stationary set from the first event, so if you haven't claimed it yet, get to it! You can post letters directly on the main community or set up an inbox in your journal to send and receive hand-written letters. For each letter that you send, you will get a random gacha item. This task can be completed 3 times.
5. Harvest your crops. On the 14th, you'd be surprised to find that all of your crops are now ready for picking - even if you've only planted them the day before. The crops look bright, flavourful, and ready to be picked, so eat them, trade them, sell them, whatever! For every interaction that you have involving the bountiful harvest, you will receive a new set of clothes. This task can be completed 3 times.

After a few hours, however, when the festival is nearing to an end, Noé decides to leave the town square and head back to his farmhouse. On the way there, in the forest, he catches a glimpse of a familiar silhouette, who turns out to be the person he's been asking for a dance three times earlier. And now, Kaspar is dancing on his own, clearly in a better mood than before, humming a melody that's unknown to Noé, but which he finds very pleasant. ]
Good evening. Is everything alright?
[ This sudden mood change is a little suspicious. ]

Kaspar hadn't expected him here, or anyone else, along the scenic and curious man's pathway home. But he knows the vampire's voice well enough. It draws him in. The music takes a dramatic turn just as Kaspar sweeps close, almost too close, and nods before offering the other man a hand to pull him along. Deeper in the glen, past lines of taller bushes, there is more separation from the world and more beautifully glowing flowers to surround them. All his slightly hazy mind is set on is dancing with him there, happy to lead or be lead as he saw Noé dance earlier (if he did).
His demeanor makes it clear that he is intoxicated to some degree; being down to his waistcoat and missing flowers from his hair only supports that conclusion. Though it is always hard to tell with Kaspar, before or past a certain point of consumption. He hides it well early, naturally, until he can't. And it seems it doesn't take too much to dim the glow of his skin at night, or flush him lightly pink to his ears. ]

The sight of these reminds him of his home, yet that's not something he wants to be pondering about now. ]
I thought that you're not fond of dancing. Or worse... that you're angry with me.
[ Well, he kept being a little pushy back there, so it would make sense. Sometimes Noé just doesn't know when to stop. W

He shakes his head. But then leans in a few beats after Noé's words, aiming his cheek for a rest on the nearest shoulder. No one has ever been tall enough for him to do that this comfortably before. With a squeeze of his hand in Noé's, the flowers attract Kaspar's gaze. His humming slows the song down for the moment. The night lends his voice some wear, as unused to this much use. ]
You did, nothing wrong. [ Unless Noé keeps them moving, Kaspar's own movement slows as he tries to explain. ] There were so many people.
no subject
It's alright. [ While he has slowed down significantly to match Kas' pace and they're barely moving, Noé keeps swaying to the humming. ] No one is here now.
[ These words were supposed to comfort Kas, yet there's a certain consequence to them; Noé's cheeks flush when it sinks in that they're all alone in the forest, surrounded by beautifully glowing flowers. ]
Are you doing better now?
no subject
Do not worry... I am, happier than I've been in quite some time.
[ His calm, as tipsy Kaspar confirms, is a natural state of being --or so deeply ingrained that it may as well be. But his words have come looser here in the glen, even as his gaze slips down the vampire's neck. Noé has experienced some of his life, and although it isn't the same as the unique connection between him and his bloodletting weapons, there is an affection he can't help harboring for someone that shared in such a taboo and strangely intimate thing. The only other living person he knows to have seen and heard the Vair. To see what bloodletting could do for costumes and performances clearly meant for larger stages and audiences, a waning art achieved only with a life spent mastering it. As a child, Kaspar sobbed in utter silence at the beauty of it all. The chastisement still couldn't be helped in such a place.
He opens his mouth a beat too early for this next words-- ]
Did you have fun ?
no subject
I share that sentiment.
[ He cannot emphasize how much of a relief it is that Kaspar isn't avoiding him, especially after they shared so much about themselves with each other. If there's someone Noé trusts, Kaspar definitely makes the list. ]
It reminded me of home a little. I attended dance parties every once in a while. I managed to teach a few people how to dance, too. I can see that you don't need that kind of lessons, though.

Kaspar breathes a little laugh. This close, faintly smelling of wine and mint. He's right, of course, so Kaspar doesn't deny it or confirm it in more than the way he moves to shift their positions after a moment of silence and stillness. His movements have gone more languid with alcohol, hands warm as they slide and send his glow flickering. Eyes closing, beginning slowly, he'll see if Noé can keep up with a few turns of a Groscian waltz if he goes along for the rotations and spins. It is not so dissimilar to the Viennese waltz, if he might recognize it, modified by being from a completely different world. Along with Kaspar's changes; influences from the dance, his whims, and his smooth covering of any missteps by either of them.
At its end, if Noé lets him, he leads the vampire playfully, gracefully, right into a dip by the end. He is a natural even without the extra strength from his light, though out of practice by several years. And then, he moves to pull Noé back. Only for him to fall back gently against a tree with a quiet sigh.
Wherever Noé winds up and however they got there, Kaspar lets his head fall back against bark to look up through the boughs above him to spy stars in its patchwork. The flowers in his hair, glowing like the others around them, blend him in with nature. Though the stark whites and golds mark his outline, strangely resistant to the darkness if looked at closely enough.
He admits it, cheeks flushed and smile rueful-- ]
... I used to prefer dancing alone.

Used to...? [ A beat. ] The way you dance is mesmerizing, though. It's a shame you're not letting the world see it. But I'm not trying to convince you to do anything here.
[ He understands valuing one's privacy, after all. ]
no subject
[ Maybe it is a shame? He certainly feels none about the thought of dancing with others in a crowd. He's done it before. Stifling, judgmental stares and strict steps. Kaspar has no intention of showing the world. Though he isn't strictly opposed. The freedom to decline, or to dance freely in the moonlight with whomever he likes, or no one at all, is still such a new and precious thing. He finds comfort in its novelty for now. If the moment comes that he wants to dance in a crowd of far friendlier faces, he will. The sentiment wells his eyes, scattering the glow of his slightly like raindrops on the glass of streetlamps. Kaspar has to blink away from above, gaze descending back to Noé's face.
It's odd, the way his eyes look as though he might cry, while the rest of his expression is so serenely content. Thanks are easier given in letter, but he manages. It still warms him deeply, though with Noé it has become a known and welcome feeling. One he can accept with words. ]
... thank you.
[ ... ]
Does it, feel different to you? Before everyone, or here?
no subject
The question surprises him a little, but he thinks he understands why Kaspar might be wondering about it. ]
Of course it does. There's something special about dancing like we did here. I won't forget it.
no subject
His free hand reaches up to idly adjust anything out of place before him. Whether anything is actually out of place or not. Noé's hair, his outfit, a cheek brushed with a softly glowing thumb; chaste and gentle as Kaspar speaks softly again. ]
Next time, I will say yes.
