With Crescentview’s newest citizens settling nicely, the Goddess has summoned everyone back to Town Square for another round of announcements. This time, her summons comes to you in the form of a hand-written note. If you happen to be out working in your field, one of her fairies will hand it directly to you, looking a little more sprightly than they did the first time you saw them. Otherwise, expect to find her request/demand to meet up in Town Square in your mailbox.

introducing: the memo board

The Memo Board is now available in Town Square. You may post messages here to your fellow neighbors, send out requests for assistance on the farm, or even solicit local singles for hot dates! Post whatever you like whenever you like. You can even post messages to the board anonymously if you so desire. The Memo Board is available here.

But wait, there’s more! The Goddess has given everyone a fun relationship-building exercise. How well do you know your neighbors? Can you identify them based on their writing alone?

By December 22nd - 12:00pm EST, please have your character submit an anonymous message to be posted to the Memo Board. Their message can be about anything they’d like and there is no length requirement or restrictions. After submissions have been received, characters will be given an opportunity to review everyone’s messages and guess which character wrote which memo. Answers will be revealed on December 29th - 12:00pm EST. A single correct guess will earn you a horse while each additional correct guess will net you a vegetable, flower, or mushroom spore seed bag of your choice. Good luck and have fun!

it's time to dance!

Every Spring 15th, the annual Flower Dance is held in Town Square. Villagers gather to dance with one another and celebrate the upcoming harvest and offer their prayers to the Goddess. Folks are encouraged to dance not just with those they fancy, but their fellow neighbors as a way to express gratitude and appreciation for the friendship and company they provide.

ICly, the dance takes place on Spring 15th and goes from 9am to 9pm.

In addition to the tasks currently available on the Task Board, a handful of new additions have been added. You may continue to work on tasks from the previous event in addition to these new tasks, but please note that tasks may only be completed within the month they are assigned. Summer starts next month, so please have all of your tasks completed and submitted by then!

The new additions are as follows:

1. Post a notice on the Memo Board. Stick up an anonymous memo and earn a single chicken or rabbit to add to your coop. You may post as many notices as you like, but you will only redeem the reward once.

2. Correctly guess who posted a memo. Discuss these anonymous notes with one another and guess who may be the author. Between December 22nd and December 29th, submit your IC votes (link coming on the 22nd) and if you guess correctly, even just once, you will get a horse! You may guess as many times as you like, but you may only redeem this reward once.

3. Partake in the Flower Dance. Pick a partner for a round of dancing, pray to the Goddess, or just celebrate the good times! For every person that you celebrate the event with, you will receive a random bag of seeds of fruits, vegetables, flowers, or mushroom spores. This task can be completed 5 times.

4. Send a letter to your neighbor. This requires you to have acquired the stationary set from the first event, so if you haven't claimed it yet, get to it! You can post letters directly on the main community or set up an inbox in your journal to send and receive hand-written letters. For each letter that you send, you will get a random gacha item. This task can be completed 3 times.

5. Harvest your crops. On the 14th, you'd be surprised to find that all of your crops are now ready for picking - even if you've only planted them the day before. The crops look bright, flavourful, and ready to be picked, so eat them, trade them, sell them, whatever! For every interaction that you have involving the bountiful harvest, you will receive a new set of clothes. This task can be completed 3 times.

Oh, I see. [He'll have to remember to thank him later. Once Trahearne has it affixed to his wrist, he twists it to inspect it.]

Well, I like it. I'll be sure to keep it safe the rest of the night. Did he use a lot of glitter?

No.

[ Trahearne tilts his head curiously. Strange--there's glitter on his corsage as well, and on Syrlya's hand? He looks down at himself and-- ]

Oh. [ As a test, he wipes a hand on his leg, leaving a trail of glitter behind. ] I think it's me.

[ Huh. How did that happen?? ]

No? [He watches Trahearne smear glitter on his leg.

Syrlya reaches for Trahearne's wrists to turn his hand over and try to inspect his palm. And to try and drag a finger over it to see how much glitter it comes away with.] Where did you get so much glitter?

[ Syrlya's finger comes away covered in the stuff. Trahearne's palms, strangely, are entirely glitter-free. ]

I don't know.

[ He just. Stares at his hands. ]

...Perhaps it's the goddess. The other day, I--

[ Oh. Ummm. His lips shut and his face goes gold. He's pretty sure that was the goddess's doing, too. ]

The goddess? [He furrows his brow as he attempts to wipe the glitter off. What kind of weird curse did she put on Trahearne? Syrlya already wasn't that fond of her.

He looks up with a thin frown.] You what?

[ Hmm. Why does he hesitate now? Is it because he's telling Syrlya?

...No. Definitely because it was an embarrassing situation all around. ]

...I found myself consumed by an impulse, and kissed van Zieks. [ His eyes wander to the side, and he frowns. ] I feel awful. He clearly was not happy about it.

[ And he wouldn't have kissed him anyway??? ]

Oh my. [Syrlya puts his hand to his mouth (and gets glitter on his lips, he'll worry about that later). He hadn't realized that the goddess would... interfere so directly?]

You think she implanted that desire in you? That she is doing that to us?

I have no other reasonable explanation for it.

[ It was...very sudden. And he feels more embarrassed the longer he thinks about it. ]

Considering her power, I would not be surprised.

Well that is a completely unnecessary overreach. [His hand gripping the forget-me-nots clenches as he scowls. Looks like he is going to need to have a talk with the goddess.

His gaze averts to where her offerings go... but he won't leave Trahearne for that. He'll wait until they're done.

He shakes his head as he turns back, reaching for Trahearne's hand.] I hope Van Zieks is understanding.

[ Oh, oh no. He doesn't want Syrlya getting angry or starting a fight with the goddess on his behalf. ]

It is, but we have no way of knowing for sure. It's all-- Oh.

[ Purely out of instinct and habit, he reaches to put his hand on Syrlya's shoulder, only to remember last minute that he's getting glitter everywhere. He takes his hand back and tries to shake it out, and-- yeah. Oops. ]

I have not spoken to him since. [ He keeps going as he pulls his hand back. ] It's unfortunate.

[He has killed gods and dragons and he will fight for Trahearne's honor--]

You should. [Syrlya taps his knuckles to the unwounded part of Trahearne's chest.] I would hate for you to lose a friend over a misunderstanding.

[ Are they really friends, though? Trahearne frowns--Syrlya has a point. ]

You're right. I should write him a letter.

[ And after a moment, he brightens again. ]

But it can wait until after a second dance. If you don't mind.

I don't mind... but it doesn't count for the purposes of our wager. [He smiles.

And then pulls against his hand as he hops into step again for a lively dance.]

I know.

[ He's just getting warmed up!! Or something...

Trahearne literally does not miss a beat as he gets back to dancing with Syrlya, a big smile on his face. It's very hard to hide the elation he feels to be dancing together like this. ]

[It feels incredible, just to share a moment of pure peace and joy again. In a way, being here with Trahearne really is a miracle.

Something overcomes him, so easily blended pointy his own feelings that he doesn't notice anything strange as he surges forward and interrupts their dance to wind his arms around Trahearne in a firm embrace.] I'm glad you're here.

[ This catches Trahearne off-guard, though. He practically freezes in place, arms hovering awkwardly in mid-air as Syrlya comes in for a hug. A very firm hug.

At first, he only stares down in confusion at first. Where is this coming from, and why?

Not that he's going to argue with it. His arms settle loosely around Syrlya's shoulders and a kind smile crosses his face. ]

As am I. I'm glad you're here with me, too.

[ They've been over this, but he won't pass up the opportunity to voice his sentiments again. ]

[Syrlya just continues to beam up at him, especially pleased when he returns it however awkwardly.]

Good. I've missed your presence, truthfully. You have always been insightful and supportive.

[ Syrlya keeps going. There's a little flutter of joy in Trahearne's chest as he tilts his head, his own smile widening. ]

What a kind thing to say, Commander. I've done what I have because I want nothing but the best for you.

[ Still, it's very sudden. They were just dancing? ]

Where is this coming from?

[Syrlya pauses at that question, not exactly having a good answer for it. But--] Perhaps I have just realized how much I should appreciate the chance to see you again.

[ Something in Trahearne's chest clenches, and his expression softens. He's starting to get the feeling that whatever happened in those seven years, he will never be able to comprehend. There's a depth there that both intrigues and scares him. ]

And I hope to be here by your side for the foreseeable future.

[ His arms squeeze just a bit tighter, but not enough to press Syrlya into his chest wound. ]

I'm touched, Commander. Thank you.

[Syrlya blinks slowly as he looks up at Trahearne. He doesn't squeeze back, but he does lean forward with the gesture arching his nach enough to keep their chests from pressing too tightly together.]

You're welcome, Trahearne. [With a sharp breath, he finally loosens how hold.]

[ Trahearne similarly looses his; the smile is still on his face, and he buzzes with the nice feeling of hearing the appreciation from Syrlya.

And as he pulls back from the hug, the music comes to an end. ]

I did not realise this warranted interrupting our second dance.

[ There's a tease in his voice. ]

[The music tapers down, but Syrlya hardly seems troubled by it. With the distance back between them, he reaches for Trahearne's hand to return the connection with a gentle hold.]

I would offer you a third to make up for it... but you might run out of time to accomplish our wager, and I am nothing if not fair.

You're much too kind.

[ Trahearne consciously squeezes back before stepping away, giving a light nod of his head. There's a jesting tone to his voice. ]

I will seek you out later, provided you've not drunk or eaten yourself silly. And we can compare numbers.

[ He will, in fact, not seek Syrlya out later. Because he'll be too busy fucking Kaeya????????

With a little wave, he turns to find someone else to dance with...or find food. ]
