mid-month event

With Crescentview’s newest citizens settling nicely, the Goddess has summoned everyone back to Town Square for another round of announcements. This time, her summons comes to you in the form of a hand-written note. If you happen to be out working in your field, one of her fairies will hand it directly to you, looking a little more sprightly than they did the first time you saw them. Otherwise, expect to find her request/demand to meet up in Town Square in your mailbox.

introducing: the memo board

The Memo Board is now available in Town Square. You may post messages here to your fellow neighbors, send out requests for assistance on the farm, or even solicit local singles for hot dates! Post whatever you like whenever you like. You can even post messages to the board anonymously if you so desire. The Memo Board is available here.

But wait, there’s more! The Goddess has given everyone a fun relationship-building exercise. How well do you know your neighbors? Can you identify them based on their writing alone?

By December 22nd - 12:00pm EST, please have your character submit an anonymous message to be posted to the Memo Board. Their message can be about anything they’d like and there is no length requirement or restrictions. After submissions have been received, characters will be given an opportunity to review everyone’s messages and guess which character wrote which memo. Answers will be revealed on December 29th - 12:00pm EST. A single correct guess will earn you a horse while each additional correct guess will net you a vegetable, flower, or mushroom spore seed bag of your choice. Good luck and have fun!

it's time to dance!

Every Spring 15th, the annual Flower Dance is held in Town Square. Villagers gather to dance with one another and celebrate the upcoming harvest and offer their prayers to the Goddess. Folks are encouraged to dance not just with those they fancy, but their fellow neighbors as a way to express gratitude and appreciation for the friendship and company they provide.

ICly, the dance takes place on Spring 15th and goes from 9am to 9pm.

In addition to the tasks currently available on the Task Board, a handful of new additions have been added. You may continue to work on tasks from the previous event in addition to these new tasks, but please note that tasks may only be completed within the month they are assigned. Summer starts next month, so please have all of your tasks completed and submitted by then!

The new additions are as follows:

1. Post a notice on the Memo Board. Stick up an anonymous memo and earn a single chicken or rabbit to add to your coop. You may post as many notices as you like, but you will only redeem the reward once.

2. Correctly guess who posted a memo. Discuss these anonymous notes with one another and guess who may be the author. Between December 22nd and December 29th, submit your IC votes (link coming on the 22nd) and if you guess correctly, even just once, you will get a horse! You may guess as many times as you like, but you may only redeem this reward once.

3. Partake in the Flower Dance. Pick a partner for a round of dancing, pray to the Goddess, or just celebrate the good times! For every person that you celebrate the event with, you will receive a random bag of seeds of fruits, vegetables, flowers, or mushroom spores. This task can be completed 5 times.

4. Send a letter to your neighbor. This requires you to have acquired the stationary set from the first event, so if you haven't claimed it yet, get to it! You can post letters directly on the main community or set up an inbox in your journal to send and receive hand-written letters. For each letter that you send, you will get a random gacha item. This task can be completed 3 times.

5. Harvest your crops. On the 14th, you'd be surprised to find that all of your crops are now ready for picking - even if you've only planted them the day before. The crops look bright, flavourful, and ready to be picked, so eat them, trade them, sell them, whatever! For every interaction that you have involving the bountiful harvest, you will receive a new set of clothes. This task can be completed 3 times.

[ He's excited to dance with someone, but at the very least he will slow down after the first thrill is gone and he realizes that this pace might be too much. ]

Tyria? I've never heard of it, but it's such a nice name. What kind of place is it? [ A beat. ] I'm from France.

[ Trahearne, meanwhile, has no frame of reference. So as far as he knows, this is how fast the dance is supposed to go. ]

It is certainly not as peacef-- Oh-- [ He momentarily stumbles over himself, gripping Noé a little tighter to keep upright. No stumbles, luckily. ] --Not as peaceful as Crescentview.

[ He smiles apologetically. ] I hope France is like this.

[ The name rings a bell for reasons that are beyond him (he's thinking of French kissing on his card). ]

[ Noé responds almost immediately, his reflexes not failing him as he holds Trahearne a bit tighter to make sure he keeps his balance.

Not as peaceful as Crescentview might mean a lot of things, so he takes a moment to ponder if he should ask any additional questions. ]

I don't believe there are many places as peaceful as this one. Do you miss home? I miss France sometimes, actually.

[ He's an expert in French kissing... which in his mind is just kissing by someone from France. Legit. ]

[ Trahearne offers a quiet hum to Noé in gratitude as he rights himself and quickly falls back into step.

He agrees, though. There are very few places as peaceful as Crescentview. ]

I do. [ His answer comes readily and with a bright smile. For a second, he thinks about elaborating.

...But the question really sticks in his mind. ]

--I'm sorry, I have never known a place named France, yet it brings bells. [ He frowns... This is strange. Explain, Noé. ]

[ If Noé only knew that he missed on Trahearne's backstory because of a FRENCH KISS, no less. Curse you, French kiss. ]

Does it?

[ Can you hear the gears turning. He's giving it a thought, where could he hear about France before... the silence lingers for quite a while and the song comes to an end when it finally strikes him: ]

Oh, it must be the French kiss. Do you have that on your card?

[ its ok the trahearne lore will still be there

And Trahearne falls still as the music ends, watching Noé as the gears turn in his head. His hands almost drop from their hold on him when Noé finally speaks up. ]

Yes, that's it! [ It makes sense now! He lights up in recognition. ] I do have it on my card--would you happen to know what that is?

[ Surely the French person would know?? ]

Wouldn't that mean a kiss from someone who is from France?

[ He's a virgin, I'm so sorry. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best. Or maybe he's just unknowingly cheating the system. ]

I can help with that!

[ It isn't like Trahearne knows any better, either. His brows raise. ]

That's quite narrow, don't you think?

[ Will all who have French kissing squares have to kiss Noé, then?

After a moment, Trahearne shifts awkwardly as he pulls out his card, glances at the unmarked square, then back to Noé. ]

You...don't mind if I kiss you, then?

[ Maybe he just won on the Goddess lottery. Or he's just missing the point. Either way, any kiss with a French guy is a French kiss, right? ]

I won't. Just go ahead!

[ What a helpful little guy. ]

[ At least Noé seems to be taking this in stride. It'd be even worse if they were both awkward about this. This is Trahearne's second kiss ever, and his first deliberate one. He's nervous!! ]

All right. ...Here I go.

[ With a hand, he cups Noé's jaw and leans in to tentatively press their lips together, letting it linger. Like it will mark harder the longer it lasts.

Eventually he pulls back, glances down at his card... ]

[ ...And nothing changed.

Trahearne's brows shoot up in panic. ]

Oh no--that didn't work!

[ NOW HE'S MORTIFIED. ]

I'm--I'm so sorry, I--

[ Once the kiss is broken, Noé casts his gaze down to peek at Trahearne's bingo card. The stamp isn't here, but he's not giving up and stares at the square as if that would make it appear. When the apology reaches his ears, Noé raises his head to look right into his eyes and he's visibly confused. ]

Let's try again.

[ He's not sure why it didn't work, but they say third time's a charm...! ]

[ Trahearne meets the confused look with one of his own. Well. It's not a kiss from a French person, it seems. What other kinds of kisses are there?

He nods. May as well...?

He leans again, this time pressing his lips to Noé's with a little more conviction. His head is tilted, mouth parted just slightly. May as well make small changes and see what sticks.

But he doesn't pull back. Because maybe Noé has some ideas of his own? ]

[ As a person who's not experienced in kissing, Noé wonders what would make this one count. He tries to put more pressure into it, but will that really do? While his head is full of these thoughts... his tongue accidentally slips through Trahearne's parted lips and meets his wet muscle, rubbing against it lightly for a moment before he pulls away, his whole face flushed. ]

Ah—sorry, I didn't mean to...

[ There's a small grunt of surprise when Trahearne feels the intrusion. That's--that's a new sensation, and he lightly pushes back on it for a moment before pulling back as Noé does.

He greets him with a wide-eyed stare, his own cheeks similarly tinged gold. ]

O-oh, no, it's all right...

[ His gaze drops to his card only to see French kissing marked. His brows lift in surprise. ]

That worked!

[ So. Kissing with tongue? Got it. ]

[ Trahearne sharing the good news fills him with relief and leaves him terrified. ]

I don't know what to think about someone from France inventing this kind of a kiss...

[ He sounds a bit deflected. ]

I'm glad it worked, though...

[ The music starts up again, but Trahearne doesn't move to it. He only looks at Noé with slight concern. ]

Is that a bad thing?

[ That French people have invented this kind of kiss. ]

No, I just... I suppose I should have studied it more back home. I had no idea that's what French kiss means!

[ No point in hiding that it was all an accident. ]

Wouldn't "tongue kissing" be more accurate?

[ Is he going to ponder that now? The answer is yes. ]
