[OPEN]
WHO: Syrlya and You
WHAT: Syrlya gets cursed, and then has one bad day after another so he runs away to the hotsprings
WHEN: ~few days after the spring dance until last day of spring. Closed prompts through end of Summer
WHERE: The farm, around town, the hotsprings
WARNINGS: There is NSFW in these parts
[Do Not Agitate the Goddess (mute) | Edge of the Woods + His Farm]
[Syrlya gave it a few days, at least didn't confront the Goddess about her questionable habits at the dance itself. It doesn't go terribly well.
He marches away from the pond, his expression is twisted into a scowl and fists balled. Anyone who crosses his path in the immediate aftermath is met with irritation, and then a pointed turn of his face away as he marches down the path.
After a few hours he's had some time to cool off--though he's still sulking, toiling on his farm ripping up weeds and pushing new seeds into the dirt. If they didn't have to do this to eat, he'd let this goddess know right where she can--]
[Twice cursed (blind) | Other people's farms]
[Luckily, going mute only lasts for a day, and then it's back to normal. For a couple days, at least. Until he wakes one morning to the room being strangely dark, like the sun itself was snuffed out--no, but it isn't the sun that's the problem. It's his eyes.
The morning is a panic. A level of fear he doesn't often feel as he's suddenly lost the sense most important to him.
The first trip is a stumble to the clinic... unsurprisingly, when dealing with a talking plant it doesn't offer any answers except that they, at least, don't seem to be injured. Nobody there accuses the goddess, but an errant magical effect... Syrlya can only think of one person who is capable.
So, his option is to wait it out for now, see if it clears up on its own. That is... not optimal. But ultimately Syrlya can't find any better options.
Doesn't mean he can't try and do what he needs to. So, using a glittering sword as a makeshift walking stick (watch your feet) Syrlya strides out of the farmhouse.
Or rather, trips out of it, hitting a few walls along the way. And then he's on a truly blind path, tripping and crawling over other people's fences with no real idea of his orientation. Just where he thinks it is. The warmth of the sun isn't helping him as much as he wishes it did.
Anyway. Sorry if he tramples your flowers.]
[Make That Thrice Cursed (table) | The Town]
[The blidnness clears up after two days as if it never happened. So not a malady after all, it seems. So Syrlya goes into town to finish errands he intended to before the weekend. He's just headed down the street with a bag of groceries more varied than the limited vegetables from their garden... when it hits.
A plastic folding end table drops seemingly from thin air and smacks right onto his head. Syrlya buckles with a startled cry, his bag tumbling out of his arms and spilling to the ground.]
((His plotting post is over here if you want a more custom starter or simply something else!))

[He should be out of the game by now, not tripping over their fences, shouldn't he? Hm.]
no subject
I doubt it. Unless, of course, it was your intention to have an rather intimate meeting with my fence.
[ this is embarrassing to watch, he'll be honest. which is why adelis eventually lets out a exasperated sigh before bothering with trekking over.
he's kind of got an idea of what's going on here, just based on what he's seeing, but to be sure.... ]
I'm going to assume there's a particular reason you're bumbling about like a drunk?
no subject
He bows his head, reluctant to really admit to his weakness. But he should be honest.] ... My vision seems to have left me suddenly. I can't see a thing right now.
no subject
Adelis will let him gather himself, since it seems he's still recovering from the shame of taking a rather inelegant tumble, but the answer he gets earns a quirk of the brow. ]
Your sight. [ He'll lean in a bit, despite the other's bowing head of shame- hm. That would explain a lot, wouldn't it. ] And so you chose to go galivanting off without a guide or proper way of navigating yourself.
[ He is absolutely shaming him, unfortunately. But, regardless, he still does owe him, somewhat, and so he'll reach out after he gains the other man's attention. ]
Your hand, if you would.
no subject
Reluctantly, he holds his free hand out for Adelis.] I was... hoping to run a quick errand in town.
no subject
Adelis grasps that extended hand, giving him a tug to guide him to the gap in the fence so he doesn't whack his knees again. ]
Let me guess. You simply had no one to ask to help you. [ He's going to guess he simply just 'didn't' instead, judging what he knows of the other man by now. Syrlya can't see his blank, judgemental expression, but the vibes are probably there, anyway. ] And what exactly would this direly important errand be?
no subject
I was going to speak to the carpenter about repairs. I have a couple of these squares completed and all and figured there was no reason not to.
[Except for the whole being blind part, you know.] Thought I could manage just making an appointment.
no subject
I'll admit, I'm impressed it was something more intricate than simply running to the grocer. [ This is showcasing how little faith he had in you right now, Syrlya. ] And yet, it was still something that could have certainly waited until you could have read the sign.
[ There's a brief pause, before he makes an exasperated noise in the back of his throat. Fine, whatever. He's repaying a favor, technically, and he might as well kill two birds with one stone. ]
If that's all, then I suppose I could accompany you. I've a square or two myself to request, anyway, so I may as well get it over with.
no subject
... If it isn't too much trouble, I would be grateful for the assistance. [He can't stand being so vulnerable. Doesn't want to bow to the reality that he is currently incapable, that if there were danger he would be crippled in the face of it.
His expression tightens, lips pressed into a thin line. He carefully dislodges his hand just long enough that he can put his sword back in its sheathe. That, at least, is a movement he's done so many times it would be seamless in his sleep.]
no subject
[ Not that he's any better, and he's being a complete hypocrite considering how their first meeting went- but he likes to pretend. If nobody else is going to say anything, then he will.
When Syrlya lets go, Adelis turns and makes his way over to his home- he's only gone for a few minutes at most, but when he emerges, it's in a fresh shirt and with the dirt wiped off his person. Hells if he's going to go into town looking like that. Just because the other man can't see it doesn't mean everybody else can't. ]
My hand or my arm. Unless you believe yourself capable of keeping pace at my side, instead, in which case I'll hardly argue.
[ Don't worry, he'll make you won't trip over anything else...probably. ]
no subject
He slowly waves his hand in the air until he finds Adelis' arm first, and holds onto that as he stands upright again.] I'll take the guidance, thank you.
no subject
I do hope you haven't been stumbling along all morning without rest.
[ Like, did you even see a doctor, my good bitch. You had better, if you don't want another judgemental look right now. ]
no subject
I've consulted the clinic. [Don't ask the details.] They could not find anything wrong--at least, no signs of a fungus or something growing in them that might block my sight. There was little else they could do beyond that.
no subject
Perhaps it's a curse. [ There's probably not a lot of explanations for random fits of blindness, he wagers. ] I have heard our gracious host enjoys handing out random afflictions at her leisure.
[ He hears things, through the grapevine...people talk, after all. ]
no subject
He scowls, his grip tightening briefly.] Of course it could be. She holds us in little regard, and isn't inclined to reconsider the nonsense of manipulating our will and--apparently--senses.
[His opinion is low.]
no subject
The noise that escapes him is faintly amused. ]
That much is obvious. Most with power don't. Otherwise, she certainly wouldn't be attempting to dictate our intimate lives, now would she?
[ He hears you, brother...his opinion is equally low, and while he appreciates being far from Ostoyan soil, it would be great if higher beings would quit forcing him to get closer to people than he'd like. ]
Endure it for now. I wager it will wear off shortly. At the very least, I imagine it could be far, far worse than simply losing a sense for a while.
no subject
... Do you want to maintain your body heat while we walk? [He might as well offer, since Adelis is already assisting him.]
no subject
He is not, however, expecting the offer, so it's a good thing Syrlya can't see the bewilderment that flickers over his face for a moment before he quickly wipes it off. ]
Well, aren't you a bleeding heart. [ Not too sure how he feels about that, but he's in no position to argue. There's a light jostle as he tugs his gloves off before shoving them in his pockets- there's no need to walk around with just one on, after all. ] Since you know my little secrets, I don't see why not.
no subject
When the arm seem to still, Syrlya slides his hand down to hold onto Adelis'.] Consider it a token of my gratitude for helping me stumble through my errand, instead of leaving me to keep tripping over fences.
[He'd offer anyway but he can phrase it like a trade of convenience.]
no subject
I suppose when you phrase it like that. Hells forbid I ever do anything for free, lest people get the idea I'm a generous soul. Perish the thought.
[ He's being perfectly sarcastic and yet serious at the same time. A true talent. Luckily, being rural means the trek to town is hardly much of a problem, which is better for him- the less of a trip he has to make in the sun, the better. As usual, it's a bit of a lively place, snippets of chatter and people going by on their errands the only obstacle in the way. If someone comes a bit too close, he'll just...maneuver them a bit to save face. He is guiding the blind, here. ]
no subject
[Not that he was planning to go around talking about his embarrassing fumbling, anyway. But this might be a virtue Adelis won't want him extolling lest he actually gain a reputation. He shuffles by Adelis' guidance , recognizing by the increasing sounds of people once they reach the town.] It sounds busy.
no subject
[ You're only allowed to use him and generosity in the same term when it's sarcastic, Syrlya. You should know this. ]
It's the tail-end of Spring, or so they say. They're likely preparing for the next season.
[ Luckily, this town isn't hard to navigate, and so they trudge through the streets...with a little glare tossed at whoever makes even the slightest glance towards their clasped hands. Move along, nothing to see here. Don't acknowledge him whatsoever.
He's never really been to the carpenter before, but it's easy enough to find. There's a soft little jingle as he pushes the door open, before shifting over so Syrlya can enter as well. ]
no subject
[It's the close sound of the door that alerts him first that they've arrived to their destination, and he starts patting around before pulling out his bingo card before he follows Adelis in.]
no subject
He has a request first.
[ He did walk all this way for him, after all. Might as well let him get it out of the way. ]
