( He did his part, and he's alert; while it's clear he's vigilant, he isn't hostile, like Amber. If there's anything those of his profession are skilled with, it's hiding intent.

Amber has the reigns here, and clearly there's something personal, as he suspected, at play. If she wishes to listen, then Mishka would abide; if she wanted Mishka gone, well— he would yet abide by that, but still listen in.
