The unrelenting summer heat has begun to let up as of late and those who make a habit of reading the news will know why: a hurricane is set to make landfall on Summer 16th. Spread the word to your neighbors and keep your loved ones and animals indoors. Expect that there may be some damage to your property, field and trees!

Fortunately, the hurricane brings with it only moderate wind and rain. Once the storm subsides and the whipping winds calm, you’ll be handed a letter by one of the Goddess’ many sprightly fairies who look quite a bit healthier and happier than they used to. Some of them look like they’ve been hitting the gym while others have a nice set of shiny new acrylic nails on their fingertips. Good for them.

Anyway, the letter details an upcoming event hosted by the Goddess: the first annual date auction. She has considerately included a form with her letter inviting islanders to volunteer as dates to be auctioned away while others have been voluntold. Oof. With the promise of a fabulous and extravagant vacation for those participating, the reward may very well be worth the price of entry.

With more news to announce, she requests that everyone meet up in the Town Plaza. The task board hasn’t seen any mid-season additions, but the upcoming date auction and the recently opened mines promise to keep islanders well occupied through the rest of the season.

This season’s crops are corn, onion, pumpkin, watermelon, and pineapple. Summer’s seasonal flowers are poppy, rose, sunflower, lily, and hydrangea. As for mushrooms, shimeji, trumpet, and common brown spores are available for the summer.

It’s time to d-d-d-date auction! Participation is highly encouraged by both the Goddess and her pushy little helpers. Every islander received a form delivered to them by said pushy fairies that contains the following application:

Why should the auction attendees bid on you?

...You may have noticed that the form does not include a section for your name. That’s because this is a blind auction in which bidders must place their bids based only on the information provided in their application. Love is blind, as they say!

While some people may eagerly volunteer themselves to be auctioned away, those who are less bold may have been signed up to participate by a friend, neighbor, or the Goddess herself. In so many words, if you’d like to sign your character up but don’t believe they’d willingly volunteer to be auctioned, worry not! You may use the Goddess (or another character) as your convenient excuse so sign them up anyway.

Submit your applications here by the 20th at 12pm EST. The date auction will go live on the 21st at 12pm EST.

As mentioned in the overview, all auctioned off parties and their winning bidders will win an all expenses paid trip... somewhere. The Goddess’ lips are sealed as to the destination, but you get the feeling this trip will be quite a bit more than you bargained for.

The task board is located in Town Square and changes from season to season. In real time, a season is one month long. The following tasks are available from January 1st to February 1st and more tasks may be added mid-month.

Certain rewards are only available through event participation, so please keep this in mind when planning your threads. Multiple tasks may be completed within a single thread, but when turning in, please link to the individual tags in which each task was completed.

Finally, rewards are per character, not per farm, so those with housemates may want to coordinate with one another with regard to what animals you’re bringing home to your farm.

This month’s tasks are centered around getting to know your fellow neighbors on a deeper level. As such, the Goddess has put together a small human scavenger hunt to encourage people to learn more about the people they are living with — and hopefully falling in love with.

3. Plays a musical instrument
4. Has more than 3 siblings
5. Works out 5 times a week or more
6. Doesn’t like animals
7. Would like to date the Harvest Goddess

Each submission will earn you two random bags of summer seeds. Specify whether you want crop, flower, or mushroom spores in your submission. This task can be completed a total of 10 times.

Many ingredients used in wine production grow in the summer, but so do a variety of tea plants and grains. Grapes, tea shrubs and grains like wheat and barley can all be grown on your farm or in your greenhouse, if you have one.

Complete the following tasks to earn yourself some nice beverage-producing crops for the farm:

1. Take something from last month’s harvest and gift it to a neighbor. You can give it to them directly, cook it into a meal, etc. Alternatively, craft them a bouquet, flower crown, or another gift from the flowers you grew last season. Complete 3 times for a total of 6 grape starters.

2. Share a piece of hot gossip with a neighbor or exchange secrets with them. It doesn’t have to be your secret! Complete 3 times for a total of 6 tea starters.

3. Exercise with someone. Go on a run, swim in the ocean, help them stretch out! Complete 3 times for a total of 6 grain crops. You may choose from wheat, barley, rye, or rice.

Summer is the perfect time to hang out on the beach and splash around in the ocean. Participate in some summer fun at the beach and earn more animals for your barn and coop.

1. Swim in the ocean, build a sandcastle, or bury someone in the sand. Do any of the following for one of the following animals: cow, sheep, alpaca, or goat. This task can be completed once.

2. Participate in Hot or Not. It’s an annual tradition! Submit yourself or comment on someone else for a single chicken or rabbit. This task can be completed once.

The once abandoned mines have been reopened and are now accessible to any brave islanders who wish to explore their depths! But be warned: doing so may come at a cost. Will you take the risk and come out on top with rare and otherworldly treasures, or will you trip and sprain your ankle after stumbling over a small rock? Only one way to find out!

OOCly, the mines can be explored once per week and exploration is undertaken in a cyoa-style thread. The mines are a permanent feature and can be accessed now until the end of the game. Have fun!

With summer nearing its end, it’s time to welcome fall — the season of romance on Crescentview island — with the first annual date auction. Gather in Town Square at noon sharp to mingle, eat delicious free food lovingly cooked up by the Goddess’ many fairies, and most importantly, bid on the contestants participating in today’s auction. Are all of them here of their own volition? Maybe not, but regardless, their romantic fate may very well lie in your hands.

At the stroke of noon, the stage lights up and the curtains withdraw to prominently display each contestant’s applications in big, bold lettering. Step up on the stage to get a closer look, but be warned that if you attempt to remove or destroy any of the displayed applications, the Goddess’ threateningly beefy fairies will escort you off the premises.

How does the date auction work?

Participating bidders will be given 1000 Goddess Coins minted in her likeness with which to bid on their contestant(s) of choice. Characters will be invited up onto the stage to read each contestant's application before taking their seats so bidding can begin. Each application will have a comment for bidding and one for the peanut gallery to spectate. Please do not place bids outside of the designated thread or your bid will not qualify.

Mini FAQ

What happens to my coins once I've placed a bet? All coins bid are final, counting toward's the contestant's running total, so please plan your bids accordingly— and strategically. No refunds! Additionally, you cannot withdraw a bid once you've placed it.

Can we keep the Goddess Coins after the auction? If you’d like to, sure! But these coins only serve the purpose of being utilized in the date auction and cannot be exchanged for goods and services elsewhere.

Is there a maximum bid? Yes! The maximum bid per bidder is 1000 Goddess Coins— that's each and every coin in your purse, but you aren't guaranteed to win your bet just because you went for broke on a single contestant. See below.

What happens if two people tie for top bid on a contestant? Let’s say both you and another player blow all 1000 of your Goddess Coins on the same contestant. Should this happen, both of your characters will be brought up on stage and made to make an appeal as to why they believe they are best suited to take the auctioned candidate on the date of their dreams. The Goddess will then decide which of the two (or more) bidders made the strongest appeal and proclaim them the winner.

Can we pool/share coins? No! Each set of 1000 Goddess Coins has been specially minted with the bidder’s name spanning the ridge of the coin and cannot be used by anyone else.

When does bidding end? OOCly, bidding ends on January 30th at 12pm EST. Tallies will be taken and winners announced on January 31st after which the winners and their dates will be contacted with the details of their rewards.

What if I win multiple bids? If you do, congratulations! You will now be going on an all-expenses-paid date... with all of them at once. Good luck talking your way out of this one, Casanova.

The mines, once boarded up and abandoned, have been opened back up to any would-be spelunkers to venture into in the hopes of finding gems and treasures aplenty. It is said that these mines burrow deep into the depths of the mountain and no one can tell you exactly how deep they go, but if you're feeling lucky, grab a pickaxe on your way in and find out for yourself.

The mines are a cyoa-style exploration event that can be participated in once every week until the end of the game. Results are determined via RNG and can earn your character unique items, help or hinder them with blessings and curses, or result in bodily injury if they get unlucky enough. Your character may brave the mines alone or bring a friend.

As physical injuries (excluding death) are a possible result of exploring the mines, let us know at any time if you want to retcon your results to avoid your character getting injured. If you choose this option, it will be as if your character never stepped foot in the mines, but you will not be able to participate again until the following week. Weigh your options carefully!

After event 2.5, mine exploration will move onto a separate page for ease of access. A link to the mines exploration page will be linked in every future event.

[You approach the entrance of the mines and feel a soft, cool breeze brush against your cheeks. Welcome to the mines, explorer.

The entrance itself is brightly lit by lanterns, a set of rickety old minecart tracks beckoning you down to the first floor of the mines. What will you do?]

[ The goddess will be available every day in the usual pond in the forest except Summer 16. She will not be walking around the island for the rest of the summer unless there's an event.

To summon her at the pond, you will need an offering and a sincere prayer. The goddess may place a curse on you if she doesn't like the offering, but it's on a case by case basis (giving a good offering but shit prayer, giving a shit offering but a very sincere prayer, etc). ]

[The ozone is heavy in the air, but Otegine will still make his way to the pond. Shoots of the crops he has personally grown have been carefully tied together with a slip of paper, a simple wish for blessing and protection written on it similar to the style of an ofuda.

He lowers to his knees, then with his head nearly to the ground. Typhoons are no joke,so there is a solemnity to his prayer for both the island and the people that occupy it.]

[ The crops that are here as offerings slowly slip into the pond. The goddess herself rises from said pond with the crops in her arms, neither of them wet from the pond water--or any water. ]

Hello, dear. Thank you for praying for the island and its people.

[He'll lift back up with a solemn nod, keeping his fists against his knees. At least, despite his seriousness, there's more confidence here than he'd shown earlier in the month.]

Mn... weather like this can destroy lives and livelihoods back home.

We'll protect what we can. I don't intend on coming back empty-handed. If people need help before the worst comes in, then at least... I'm going to help as best I can.

[A beat, before he apologetically bows his head again.]

That includes yourself. If you need it. I... don't know how else to pray without knowing your name. But I can feel your reach here. So... [Praying for the island as a whole was meant for a double purpose. To be oneself and also be something else, like a concept or season or item or entire piece of land... that was just the way of being a god.]

Do not fret over praying methods. As long as you are sincere, it will reach me. I will not be needing any assistance, but I know that your neighbors will.

[ Some didn't know how to farm, so she's not expecting them to know to prepare for a hurricane. ]

It is my duty as the goddess of the island to protect my people. [ The NPCs. ] I am sure well traveled farmers such as yourselves are able to take care of each other, hopefully through all the bonding I put everyone through.

[ Ellis wanted to see what the mines were about once he saw it in the newspaper, and now that they get to finally go, Ellis is very excited. It means he dragged Gaku along because why not? That's why they're at the entrance and Ellis makes headway with a small backpack just in case with some things inside.

Anyway, he bravely follows the minecart tracks and tries to look around to see if there's anything shiny or odd-colored he can find. ]

[ Gaku is right behind, a little bit nervous about traversing somewhere as dangerous as mines, but Ellis wanted to go so here he is. He has his own backpack with a few supplies and a flashlight for use should they come upon a dark area.

He also is paying special attention to any sounds around them, since Ellis can't do that himself. ]

[Nothing shiny or eye-catching yet! Finding gems and minerals won't be that easy, but if they continue down the path ahead, it will bring them down into the first floor of the mines. What do, boys? It's looking pretty dark in there...]

[ Once Ellis gets to the first floor, he brings out a flashlight. It's small, but it works. He flashes it everywhere because he wants to see everything. This guy is just way too excited right now. Being in the mines and already on the first floor? Adrenaline-inducing.

Unfortunately for Gaku, Ellis will run ahead. ]

[ Nope, he's not letting that happen! Gaku runs up behind him, reaching out to take Ellis by the arm. No running in dark places.

Speaking of dark, he turns on his flashlight and shines it around so they can get a real look at their surroundings. ]

[Ellis is lucky Gaku didn't allow him to run ahead. The mine shaft's ceiling lightly trembles, a sharp chunk of rock crashing into the ground right in front of Ellis. If Gaku hasn't stopped him, it might have landed on his head and injured him.

The first floor of the mines is quiet, the sound of water dripping somewhere just beyond, and there appear to be some thin ore deposits on the walls of the mine. The deposits shine with an eerie green glow under the beams of the flashlight.]

[ Ellis was about to whine at Gaku to let him go ahead, but that rock will solidly convince Gaku to not even let his hand go, is what he thinks. So he doesn't bother and... oh. He ignores the rock completely and tugs Gaku's like an excited dog on a leash. There's something shiny in the walls!! He points to it excitedly.

And gets out a shovel. ]

i - there's no cute sneeze

[ Wherever you find Ellis, he seems to be exhausted for whatever reason after Summer 17. His steps are sluggish, he feels like he can barely open his eyes--then he sneezes and suddenly disappears. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a cute squeaky sneeze. It just sounds like a normal one. Anyway, he reappears several feet away, but then he sneezes again--disappearing and reappearing several feet away. You know what's bad about consecutive sneezing? Ellis has eight in a row and his lungs feel like death and he keeps disappearing and reappearing further and further away each time.

When he finally stops sneezing, Ellis is lying down on the ground and looking up at the sky. Can the dirt reclaim him? Help. He has no more energy to move. ]

[ It is the same memo that was up since the beginning of summer, but he's still accepting requests. ]

[ Ellis, he swears to the Goddess—

But he follows along, now fully convinced that he shouldn't let go of Ellis. He shines his flashlight around the area of the wall while Ellis gets out the shovel. He's not going to dig, instead looking around to see if he can figure out where that water is dripping from. Does it sound like it's in a room beyond this one? ]

[The walls are judging Ellis for approaching them with a shovel, but it's whatever, man. Live your life. Gaku will find that the source of the dripping isn't coming from this room. It may be coming from the second floor or even further down.]

[ He cares not for the walls of a basement dweller.

Ellis hits the wall with the shovel to try and extract the gem with the effectiveness of 8 out of 20. ]

[ At some point, Gaku will tap Ellis on the shoulder. ]

There's something dripping. Probably a source of water further down.

[ He'll watch to see just how successful Ellis is at extracting gems, though. And what are these gems anyway? Gaku is no expert, but he can at least identify more common things like emeralds or rubies. ]

[A shovel is a poor choice of tool for extracting ore, but it's not completely useless. His efforts earn him a few flecks of emerald. Those won't sell for much and they aren't big enough to be incorporated into a piece of jewelry, but hey! That's what he gets for bringing a shovel to a pickaxe fight.]

[ He will make sure to invest in a pickaxe next time. Ellis puts the few flecks of emerald inside his bag and turns to Gaku. Water? Ellis holds the flashlight correctly in his hand again, so Gaku is free to lead him further down. ]

[ Now that the mines have opened, Vanitas wants to satisfy his curiosity. His brow is furrowed; heanticipates there being some hidden secrets in here. He steps past the entrance with a candle in hand for some light, but he's alerted to another visitor just a few steps behind him.

Vanitas turns around and sees a tall man with blue hair. He must be one of the other farmers. Vanitas' expression neutralizes, and he puts his free hand on his hip. ]
