I am excited to have you along for a group excursion to the mysterious new island! In two days' time, let us gather in the town square and set off from there! Please be prepared to stay the night. It will be so fulfilling and memorable for everyone to spend a night on an adventure together!

On the promised day, once everyone (and likely a few surprise tag-alongs) has gathered or been gathered, Ori distributes little paper bags of snacks to everyone. Inside are cookies, oat snacks, and a freshly-picked apple from her and M-21's orchard. Do with them as you please... Just don't let her catch you throwing it into the sea or something. 🥺 ]

Alright. I think we should head out, then! Thanks for coming along, everyone! I hope it'll be a great time. Oh, and please don't forget to drink plenty of water and use this incredible ointment I discovered on this island! It's called "sunscreen!" Tieflings don't really get sunburnt, but you should use it!

[ Ellis has the classic breakfast bowl with orange juice off to the side. And a waffle pancake. I'm getting hungry it's almost 2am

Ellis looks up from staring down at his food when he sees Gaku tap the table. ]

"I don't dream, but I had a lot last night. This place might be doing something to do that."

[associative]

[ me too

Gaku tilts his head, munching on his toast. Might as well get right to what he dreamed about. ]

Probably. I had a dream about you and Ten. What an asshole.

[framestory]

[ Ellis blinks. Well, Gaku knew about Ten beforehand, but... ]

"Were they really? They weren't doing anything antagonistic outright."

[associative]

I don’t care. I know what they’ve done, so I’m still gonna think they’re an asshole.

[ He takes a sip of his mimosa. ]

I didn’t like all that affection you were giving them either.

[ Holding hands and hugs is one thing, but cuddling on the bed is another. ]

[framestory]

[ Ellis puts cuddling on the bed as the same level as hugs and holding hands, so maybe Gaku should tell him why those are totally different things.

But. Well. ]

"They're dead, so you won't have to worry about seeing it again."

[associative]

Guess not.

[ And because he has a sneaking suspicion... He figures Ellis doesn't see it the same way he does due to his Issues, so he may as well take the chance to clarify it now. ]

Cuddling on the bed with other people here would bother me. That's something I only want you to do with me.

[framestory]

[ Ellis nods without hesitation as he eats his breakfast bowl. He gets you clearly, Gaku. Mmmm eggs and sausages. ]

[associative]

[ Well that was easy. Who knew communication could be so quick and easy? This is an example for the rest of the island.

Gaku has a few bites of his eggs, waiting for Ellis to look back up at him. ]

So, you saw some of my memories too.

[framestory]

[ Ellis nods. Hm. How should he put this... ]

"You have some nerve, rejecting me thrice."

[associative]

[ Give him a second to put his spoon down as he laughs. This is too funny. ]

Really? That's what you got out of that?

[ Just let him laugh some more... ]

What did you want me to do? I liked someone else, and I didn't know I liked guys.

[framestory]

"I think you were about to have a revelation when I flirted with you."

[ Ellis huffs, taking more bites out of his breakfast bowl. Rude!! ]

[associative]

[ He leans back in his chair, a smug look on his face. ]

Are you sure I wasn't just embarrassed?

[framestory]

[ Ellis squints at Gaku while eating his breakfast.

...

He sees how it is. ]

"I'm cute. So, yes."

[associative]

Yeah, you are.

[ He leans forward again, resting an elbow on the table. ]

But I liked Tsumugi. It made no difference to me.

[ After all, when Gaku said Ellis was cute, he seemed pretty detached and even likened him to an idol. ]

[framestory]

[ He nods. It's a fair assessment. Ellis knows how Gaku gets tunnel-visioned sometimes, but...

Hm.

Mm.

Ellis doesn't like this feeling welling up in his chest again: that obsessiveness and over the top possessiveness despite how they're dating already. Gaku is his significant other right now. There is no reason to have those feelings.

He shoves the rest of the breakfast bowl into his mouth to push it down. ]

[ Yeah, the way Ellis is suddenly shoveling all that food into his mouth speaks volumes. Gaku watches him, a mildly concerned look on his face. ]

Hey. What's wrong? Are you bothered?

[framestory]

[ Ellis was about to say no, but then he remembers what they talked about yesterday, so. Fine. He'll talk. ]

"I keep feeling a destructive sort of jealousy, even though it doesn't make sense as to why I should. I don't like this feeling. It reminds me when you rejected me for the first time."

[associative]

[ The first time...? Wasn't that when Ellis was in love with him? The thought of what that means makes him a little bit nervous, and he idly drums his fingers on the table. ]

I only have eyes for you, you know. That was the past.

[ It's probably obvious, but he feels like he could do with a bit of reiterating that point.

He knows that Ellis likes him, but beyond that, Gaku really isn't sure where he stands. ]

How much do you like me?

[framestory]

[ Ellis narrows his eyes a bit, but it's from trying to think how to answer Gaku's question. ]

"I don't know how to quantify that."

[associative]

[ That makes sense, honestly. So he'll try to help Ellis quantify it a little bit better. ]

...I didn't think you liked me enough to get jealous over what was in my memories.

[ It isn't out of a lack of confidence or believing that Ellis likes him. He knows that Ellis struggles forming attachments and feeling anything at all for someone else is a big deal to him, so he kind of figured that their relationship was uneven in that sense, that Gaku liked him more. ]

[framestory]

[ In all honesty, Gaku might like Ellis more, but it isn't as if he's a desert regarding his feelings for Gaku. That said, he still hates being clingy and being the one clung onto, so his love language may seem different than most people's. He can't have devotion nor passion. Even if cream puffs were very much the closest things for Ellis to strongly like right off the bat, he can't go past that boundary. His reasoning will come before cream puffs, and so on. ]

"I like you enough that if you were to get seriously injured, I might want to exact vengeance on the person or thing that caused harm to you right away."

[ But he doesn't know if that's a normal people thing. Of course if a friend gets hurt, you'd hate it and want to protect them and all, but Gaku probably understands the weight of those signed words, because Ellis normally wouldn't even bother. ]

"I like you enough..." [ He pauses, before resuming his signing. ] "...that I would fight against my survival instinct for you."

[ ... ]

"Does that help quantify it?"

[associative]

Yeah, it does.

[ He knows the way Ellis is, and how hard he has to fight against his survival instincts just to do normal, simple things. So... he's well aware that this is a big deal. Or at least, it feels like a big deal to Gaku.

Certainly big enough for him to return the favor in kind. ]

I could fall in love with you.

[framestory]

[ Ellis feels slight panic creep up his entire body. Love? The thing that makes him feel obsessed with someone? ]

"The way everyone expresses their love is different, so I will assume yours are the good kind."

[ He hasn't realized it, but... huh. He's actually terrified. ]

[associative]

I don't think it'll be all that different, honestly.

[ Only with more meaning behind what he does. At this point, he'd absolutely beat someone up for Ellis. ]

But I figured I should tell you where I stand right now.

[framestory]

[ Not much different than it is now? Ellis thinks he can handle that. It's not like Gaku has been overbearing and they're still free to do whatever it is that they want to do without much question nor obstacles.

So Ellis nods and smiles a little. He's a little embarrassed, so he averts his line of sight pretty quickly. ]
