I am excited to have you along for a group excursion to the mysterious new island! In two days' time, let us gather in the town square and set off from there! Please be prepared to stay the night. It will be so fulfilling and memorable for everyone to spend a night on an adventure together!

On the promised day, once everyone (and likely a few surprise tag-alongs) has gathered or been gathered, Ori distributes little paper bags of snacks to everyone. [ The meanest thing he ever did to Gaku in Crescentview. The only word Ellis can verbally say without flaw is "nothing". Third person pov with cyoa might make this incredibly different from the original. ]

[ Ellis is somewhere in the corner, trying to be by himself with all of himself dunked inside the water except his head and seems to be spacing out.

Anyone who gets near him in the bath will feel an unnerving, void-like, emptiness. Fun. A rubber duck passes by, floating on the water. ]

mishka's funeral (closed)

( As the day falls to night, not long before it's time for most to turn in for bed, Mishka has taken to strolling down the beach, as far as it stretches along the front of the resort, the sand just barely lit by distant lights strung further up shore. Where he stands in the deep shadows, if only by habit, may make him a little hard to spot at a glance.

He exhales soundlessly, the ocean air different, but still familiar.

The ocean, at night, reminds him some of Ostoya's black waters, and he feels nostalgic in a way that tastes a little acrid, a little bitter. Gently he feels the rumbling buzz of insects beneath his skin, and he considers that home has never left him. )

[Oh that's... weirdly and uncomfortably familiar.

Otegine is pretty immediately startled in return, having made his way over to see if Ellis was alright or not. But the sudden, gaping emptiness gets him to take in a breath, stopping in his tracks.]

...Ellis? [Wait, he can't hear him, can he? He bites at his lip, before reaching out to tap at one of his shoulders.]

[It's a dark autumn evening.

You're acutely aware you're being hunted. Every sense is on overdrive, trying to keep up with the two companions to either side of you, the weight of your weapon clenched tight in one hand. It doesn't matter that you're all much faster than any other living thing around you - the kebishii doesn't care. Along with the adrenaline is a sense of deep, hurtful dread - a worry and conflict that you can't quite give a label, but that sits in your chest like a boulder, heavy and painful.

The youngest of the men is the first to finally come to a stop with his senses all on alert, and you feel palatable relief seeing him relax. If Kotegiri knows it's safe, then maybe it's fine to stop and get your bearings for now. On your heels, almost too calmly, strides a third man, Akashi, who stays quiet with a thin, calculating expression.

"Tsurumaru and the others... I hope they'll be alright." Kotegiri turns to you, as he almost always does, his eyes full of concern. The reassurance comes out of your mouth before you can dwell on it, on a breathy laugh and a roll of your shoulders. Tonbokiri is with them, you remind him. They'll be okay in his care.

Akashi promptly breaks between the two of you, the warm and folksy accent on his lips a stark contrast with how coldly he spits out his admonishment: "You're cowards, the both of you." It freezes you up in your tracks, stomach tight. "Not that I care much. I'm the unmotivated one, remember? So long as we all get along, it doesn't matter."

He turns to you with a smile that doesn't reach his eyes, a gaze that looks wholly unimpressed.

"Isn't that right, Otegine-han?"

What do you say? Do you just go quiet, or speak up for yourself? Why does your stomach feel so sour at his words?]

i - kidnapping; no cws other than the kidnapping itself

[ A clock on a nearby shelf ticks in the otherwise silent room, a man in a suit sitting idly on the couch while another occasionally peeks out the blinds. Near a desk is Gaku himself, sitting in a chair with his hands bound with rope behind him, and his ankles bound in front of him. There's a large piece of duct tape over his mouth, as he'd be shouting otherwise.

He stares at the clock on the shelf, his eyes narrowed. ]

ii - rejection;

[ In this particular memory, it seems like Gaku is delivering food, idly speaking with a woman with blonde hair. They seem to be relatively close.

And then, Gaku decides to shoot his shot. ]

Do you... like Gaku Yaotome?

iii - concert;

[ It's raining, the sky a dark, gloomy gray as it pours. There's a tent on the side of the street set up right behind a single stage, a big banner of TRIGGER hanging above it. One of the flaps to the tent opens up, someone poking their head out.

It's Gaku.

He doesn't seem to be looking at anything in particular, his eyes looking out at the street before he looks up at the sky. ]

iv - talk show;

[ The atmosphere is tense as TRIGGER sits down, the audience themselves seemingly on the edge of their seats. This feels all like a formality, like one last chance or TRIGGER to be on a talk show like this.

One of the hosts starts things off, speaking conversationally into a mic. ]

I heard you'll be performing a new song at next week's Tokyo International Music Art Festival being held at Zero Arena. That's huge!

[ After one of Gaku's members gives thanks, he nods and holds his microphone up. ]

Since all genres of music are announced at the event, we're focusing our energy on it.

That's quite the manly answer! So, do you get your popularity with the ladies from your dad?

[ Gaku's eyes widen as the question leaves the host's mouth, his fists clenching in his lap.

Silence fills the studio. ]

[ Even after the tap on the shoulder, Ellis remains still for a few more seconds before slowly turning his head to see Otegine. He smiles and waves at him a little. How can he help you?

[ It's raining. He feels soaked. His eyes glaze over this stage. Perhaps it's the weather, but it seems pitiful. Also I'm saying Ellis can speak in all other people's memshares to make this easier on everyone.

He walks closer to the tent and looks down at Gaku. ]

Waiting for something to happen?

[ Upclose, it's easy to see that Gaku is dressed up.

He puts a finger to his lips, a playful smirk on his face. He's easily recognizable these days, even if he's no longer getting as many jobs as before, so he figures that this guy recognizes him. ]

It's a surprise, but you might wanna stick around to see what we've got in store.

[ Oh. He recognizee those kinds of smiles. Ellis can sport them too. But... huh. He's Otegine all of a sudden?

...

He frowns when he feels that sour bit settle in. He doesn't like it. ]

[ Ellis shakes his head no. He doesn't have his notepad, but since he's basically in the corner, he'll write his message in the air with a finger in careful strokes. ]

I'm fine. Did you need me?

ii, cyoa

[irresponsibly]

[ Ah. This is the woman that Gaku told her about months ago, is it? She's cute, Lucia can't even blame him for crushing on her so much. Lucia is quietly in the background, behind Gaku, watching Tsumugi intently. Waiting for her answer.

Let him down easily, please. ]

[ Hm... he really doesn't like that emptiness that he feels from Ellis, and it almost completely overrides his own relaxed feelings. It really is one thing to simply know someone feels nothing and to feel it himself.

Gaku wades over, picking up the rubber duck. ]

...Hey.

[ Gaku wastes no time in getting into the open air baths, and he can be found sitting in one of them, an arm hanging over the back as he enjoys the warm water. Baths like this serve only one purpose to Gaku—relaxation. Which is why anyone who joins Gaku in the bath will feel relaxed and content.

The moment he spots someone, he'll wave. ]

Hey! Why don't you join me?

[ It takes Ellis several seconds to snap out of it, but then he registers that Gaku is within his presence, holding a rubber duck. The empty void doesn't recede right away in full, but it makes a gradual retreat followed by a peaceful calm to replace it. He smiles and waves a little.

However, the void is still there. ]

[ What he has in store? Well, the banner sure is telling. ]

When is the performance? Will the rain let up?

[ Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to happen. ]

I think a girl like you might be able to make him fall for her.

[ Gaku looks away, his cheeks flushing, before he looks back at her. She waves her hands, her eyes wide. ]

I could never! Besides, Gaku is everyone's idol. I could absolutely never form a special relationship with the talent.

[ ...Rough. ]

["Is it that much if a guess?" Akashi's lips purse in mocked thought, though he locks his eyes with you with a subtle tilt of his head.

"Tell me, Otegine-han. Why is it that when you had to look your dear old master in the eyes just now, you looked ready to turn tail and run?"

Something ugly claws up inside you. That sourness, a flickering of anger, a cold and disgusting rush of fear at the mere mention of your master... and a strong wave of guilt.

"And you, Kotegiri-han, why did you stop me, exactly? Hm~? Didn't we have a job to do?" Kotegiri shrinks away without an answer, and you can feel your fists tighten.

"If you're both going to hesitate, own up to it instead of cowering. It's fine to keep a secret or two, or three, or twelve when we're in the middle of dealing with enemy, isn't it??"

You can't tell if he's mocking you or not. But the guilt increases.

People were hurt because you froze up. How can you justify something like that?]
