[ Hopefully everyone had fun on the Arco Lunar! The morning after the boat departs from the docks, a letter arrives to your mailbox: ]
Hello, intrepid adventurer!
I am excited to have you along for a group excursion to the mysterious new island! In two days' time, let us gather in the town square and set off from there! Please be prepared to stay the night. It will be so fulfilling and memorable for everyone to spend a night on an adventure together!
If you have any questions or concerns, please come find me at my flower shop in town or at the forest farm where I live!
Sincerely,
Oriphi
[ If she accidentally delivered it to a few wrong mailboxes, then... Oops!
On the promised day, once everyone (and likely a few surprise tag-alongs) has gathered or been gathered, Ori distributes little paper bags of snacks to everyone. Inside are cookies, oat snacks, and a freshly-picked apple from her and M-21's orchard. Do with them as you please... Just don't let her catch you throwing it into the sea or something. π₯Ί ]
Alright. I think we should head out, then! Thanks for coming along, everyone! I hope it'll be a great time. Oh, and please don't forget to drink plenty of water and use this incredible ointment I discovered on this island! It's called "sunscreen!" Tieflings don't really get sunburnt, but you should use it!
[ And with that our intrepid adventurers set off to the mysterious, dangerous, unknowable... resort island! ]

Respond to the original comment with the number/subject of the scenario + format you like, and I will start it. ))
i. wretched beginning
[ In this memory, it's all going to be a smooth ride. It's of when He Xuan is much younger; an insight to what his family is like.
It begins with two children playing at the edges of a small town named Fu Gu. ]
ii. bride price (cw: mentions of kidnapping, death, suicide; depictions of heavy violence)
[ He Xuan is intent at getting revenge for his fiancΓ© and sister's tragic fates.
But, it doesn't go as planned... ]
iii. your friend is the real interloper (cw: emeto)
[ In this scene, 'He Xuan' is referred to as 'Ming Yi', located in an unpleasant 'room' underneath Ghost City, a place that is ruled by an extremely dangerous ghost king named Crimson Rain Sought Flower.
His 'friend', Shi Qingxuan, is not too happy about 'Ming Yi's' current, lackluster condition. ]
iv. all people are liars and cheaters
[ What is it like being hunted?
He Xuan became a merchant to attempt to help provide for his father, who is the only one left from his family. But the merchants conspired to force him into debt. What comes next? Those looking to collect, after all. ]
v. wretched end (cw: violence, gore)
[ He Xuan has two men right where he wants them. One, in chains, and the other...about to receive his just dues.
Surely, nothing can go possibly wrong? ]
vi. none of the above
[ Request something else. There are other scenes available like He Xuan's imprisonment on false charges (cw: violence), a quick scene of He Xuan as 'Ming Yi' fighting another martial god, He Xuan refusing bribes as he makes efforts to become a scholar, him being dragged around in the Heavenly Court by a certain Shi Qingxuan to parties, and others. ]

cw: violence throughout this
For Ellis, he can see that his surroundings are evidently in some kind of room. Where he so happens to be positioned is fortunately behind a pillar of some sort, where he can see two men.
One of which is wearing a white and green clothing, the other dressed in white with some blues. The former happens to be shackled; expression in pain, as if injured (mentally, physically.) When the other male stands, calling out a name, "Qingxuan!", he is kicked down ruthlessly, forced to kneel.
Standing behind him with an unrepentantly frigid and sinister look is one He Xuan, golden eyes alight.
Nearby also so happens to be an alter, with four urns. He forces this man who has been kicked down to kneel before them, ten times. But when he looks up, He Xuan stepped down on his head, slamming it onto the ground with an audible crack, the force and power of which causes blood to run down his nose and his mouth. A pretty sight. ]
Did I give you permission to get up?
[ 'Qingxuan' says softly, "Ge,"
There is a worried look on his face, only for He Xuan to yell at him to BE QUIET. But while He Xuan's attention is on the other male's he has just shouted at, the one dubiously named 'Ge' happens to catch sight of where Ellis is standing, looking right at him briefly. Does he come out from his safe spot or continue to watch for now? ]

And oh... he hates "hearing" all of a sudden. That "crack", though unfamiliar of what Ellis should connect it to, makes him feel squeamish. Ugh. ]
cw: mentions of attempted suicide, violence, emeto yknow of the blood kind
Knowing who he is...that He Xuan himself is now also 'The Reverend of Empty Words', he asks in a cold, brittle tone: ]
Are you afraid of the Reverend of Empty Words?
[ The fear on the man who has been asked thus is palpable; no response is given. The other male with a bloodied face is panicked enough to speak up again, saying He Xuan's name, and that, "It was my idea to use you to prevent his misfortune. This has nothing to do with my little brother."
He Xuan's response is thunderous, words cutting like a blade, denouncing the fact the other was ignorant. Only for Shi Wudu (though this name is never properly uttered), Qingxuan's brother, to once again plead saying that he had nothing to do with his plan, and of course the taller male screamed at him, clearly pissed beyond belief. After all, why should he be allowed to know nothing and live luxury?
At this, the chained male begins to speak in a pleading voice, "Ming-xiong, I..." ]
SHUT UP!
[ The force of the shout can practically rattle the heavens. He growls, his words amounting to the fact that he had given Qingxuan 'chances', only for the man to apologize quick. Small, and with the words, "I'm sorry."
But, He Xuan is not a very forgiving man. Especially not for this. ]
And what good is your apology?
[ Qingxuan began to beg, only for He Xuan to simply cut him off, denouncing and deriding his attempts. His words come out softly, but coldly, "You understand it's futile, but you still want to express your utmost sincerity, hoping you can move me, that I would let go of this grude and dissolve this resentment?"
And so, they go back and forth. He Xuan asking if Qingxuan will offer up his life, to die for his 'sin' of reaping the divine life that had been stolen from him thanks to his brother, Shi Wudu. It is obvious by now, that when He Xuan spoken to Ellis, that the 'god' he spoke of before was this elder brother of the younger one.
Shi Wudu protests, saying Qingxuan doesn't deserve death, that only he has sinned. Only for He Xuan to scowl. ]
And who in my family has sinned? Who of my family deserved death?
[ Silence. He Xuan asks if Qingxuan is willing to die, and the younger male answers that he is; and then, briefly, the vengeful ghost king stalks away. Those deranged men crowd back around Qingxuan, and of course while He Xuan stares far away, he tells of who they are. Individuals who suffered terrible fates and the like. Ignoring Shi Wudu's panicked outburst, he states he will give two options.
The first is for Shi Wudu to switch his brother's fate with one of those deranged individuals, and disappear.
The second option is simply He Xuan asking for Qingxuan to decapitate his brother's head for him. A rusty, sharp blade is dropped before the chained up male. It's obvious that it would be the type of weapon that, were it used to try to cut someone's head off, it'd be an agonizing endeavor.
Shi Wudu's protest to allow himself to do the deed with the sword are denied by He Xuan. Everything seems to be going per the script, the brothers arguing back and forth about which one to go for. Qingxuan wishing for the first option, to spend the rest of his life with his brother, but Shi Wudu insisting Qingxuan killing him instead.
Up until He Xuan intercedes, kicking Shi Wudu so hard that blood runs down his lips, and is spat from his mouth on the ground near them. To say he has a difficult rising up after that is an understatement. ]
Quiet! Enough of that disgusting display of brotherly love. Open your eyes. No one will be moved by you here.
[ After Shi Wudu spat up some more blood, he says something...looking right back up where he saw Ellis. Perhaps out of desperation.
"Wait...there's something else." ]
And what else could there possibly be?
[ Shi Wudu coughs and asks, "Someone else is here. Aren't you going to ensure everyone who has a part in this receive their deserved...retribution?"
Wow, someone sure has little scruples, trying to just throw anyone under the bus? But, He Xuan turns his attention towards where Ellis is hiding, and begins to stalk over to him. Whether or not Shi Wudu is right, he doesn't seem pleased there is an intruder. What does he do now...? ]
no subject
Ahhh, he can feel He Xuan getting closer, and he doesn't see anywhere else he can hide, so he just curls up on himself into a ball and visibly shakes. Maybe if he looks pathetic enough, he'll be let go.
As a note, I'm fine with Ellis joining the lineup for whatever reason. You have blanket permission for anything. ]
no subject
The best thing about it is because Ellis is curled up in a pathetic ball like that, it means he won't be grabbed by the neck. Sometimes there are merits to giving into one's obvious fear.
But all the same, it doesn't mean he's left alone. He's picked up still by the collar, and for a moment, he seems perturbed by something, though it doesn't last long. Unfortunately, this is a memory, not a nightmare, and the single thread of familiarity is all will remain. So next he will hurl the other male none-so-gently back over to the other two. ]
You...
[ Before He Xuan can ask or put forth any threat, Shi Wudu opens his mouth again. To say, "He's my co-conspirator in my plan toβ" ]
Shut up.
[ He Xuan has no interest in hearing what the other has to say for the moment, tired of his words. But it draws a temporary lull in what conclusion he will get from the two brothers, even as he draws back to the other three, and then his dark gaze is upon Ellis, seeming to promise nothing but pain. ]
He can speak for himself, can't he? [ But the words are followed up with a sneer as he adds: ] Or will I have to tear the words from your throat?
no subject
The He Xuan that he has a bond with it is someone that he isn't scared of. However, there's fear that strikes into his heart of the He Xuan who stands before him.
Also, he's had it with Shi Wudu, so he slowly crawls over to him and slaps his face as hard as he can. Fucker. Die already.
And that is his answer. ]
cw: dismemberment, decapitation, death, the works
Immediate death is too simple. At least, not until he's certain this bastard has suffered enough for what he had did. That being said, though there is still no smile present on his face, there is something indicative of ... well, not displeasure, but a manner of interest enough to simply watch as the Water Tyrant is literally smacked in the face by some unknown interloper he had claimed was in on his vengeance at some point.
"You...how dare youβ"
He Xuan picks the man up by his hair and slams his face into the ground. After that, he casts a gaze back over at Ellis, expression unreadable, and then decidedly back on Qingxuan, who is too scared to move, perhaps to speak. ]
Qingxuan, make your choice. Or let your wretched brother make it for you. I won't say it again. [ To Ellis, he simply says: ] I'll take care of you when I'm done with them. Sit and watch.
[ Whatever that means. He Xuan steps away from them, and it doesn't take long for Shi Wudu, knowing now that trying to stall or lessen the severity of the options, is already all but pushing the rusted blade into Qingxuan hands while the ghost king watches this wretched little play. And, well, Ellis probably has an even better front row seat to this?
But this time when the blade is thrown aside by the younger brother, something in Shi Wudu seeming to snap. He decides to leap at Qingxuan, screaming that there's no way Qingxuan would be able to survive in a world without him, so he may as well die with him, choking the life out of his own younger brother.
Regardless of however Ellis reacts to all of...that, He Xuan's stepping in, and ripping off Shi Wudu's arms. Naturally, the force of which results in a constant spurt of blood, as the ghost king tosses those detached limbs aside. But, Shi Wudu is laughing, voice crazed. ]
...What's so funny?
[ The words pour out like a miserable fountain. "I'm laughing at you! I'm laughing at you thinking you've got the upper hand! Did you think you've finally taken your revenge after enduring for so many years? Does it feel good?"
With a cold sense of satisfaction, He Xuan merely says, "Seeing you broken like this, it does feel good."
Shi Wudu has, of course, the audacity to say that he feels good too, what's left of his broken arms reaching for part of He Xuan's clothing, but the ghost king not caring even as more blood gets all over him. Shi Wudu simply says it's 'because he sees He Xuan filled with rage, so filled with suffering and hate, but still unable to bring his family back. That he'll never be anything but a ghost in the shadows, and that he and his brother profited for so many years, so even if Qingxuan died, it doesn't matter. He still won.'
The other brother in question pleaded for him to stop, as the temperature in the room dropped unnaturally low, but He Xuan's already lifting Shi Wudu by the neck, screaming at him for his lack of remorse. As for Shi Wudu? He's bragging about not having any other remorse at all. That his fate isn't something controlled by the heavens...the words of which make He Xuan laugh almost hysterically, hearing this from Shi Wudu of all people.
But all the while, He Xuan's fingers moved in such a way that it becomes obvious to Qingxuan what he was about to do, even as Shi Wudu laughed, bidding goodbye to Qingxuan. Of course, the little brother pleaded, calling the ghost king, "Ming-xiong", and trying to apologize for his deranged, twisted brother's actions.
...Then, there's a strange calm on He Xuan's face. Not because of any mercy. But maybe because he realizes he will not be able to truly do unto Shi Wudu what has been done to him. So, his next words are cold as ice. ]
You called the name of the wrong person.
[ He Xuan simply separates the Water Tyrant's head from his shoulders, ignoring the sound of Qingxuan's screaming, blood having splattered all over him (maybe Ellis too) and he keeps hold of the head, watching the other male temporarily faint.
Next, he turns his attention over to Ellis, regardless of his current state, and as those wretched mad men from earlier crowd Shi Wudu's dead body in glee. ]
You...was there any truth to what that piece of trash said, and you just took the opportune time to turn on him? Speak.
no subject
I don't know who they are.
[ Apart from what he just learned of. ]
I can't turn on someone if I was never with them in the first place.
[ And that's unimportant. Those two, unimportant. Ellis looks right into He Xuan's golden eyes, as pretty as they are along with the rest of him. There's something majestic about being stained in so much blood to carry the air that he has. ]
Are you happy? He Xuan.
no subject
But, at this point, there's no need for the other male to lie. Or he still could be hoping to save himself. Though, even that doesn't matter much, does it?
He sees the way he stares at him, without looking away. Many would be too rightfully afraid to look directly at him. Though, at the question, he places Shi Wudu's head near the alter, as an offering to his dead loved ones. ]
Impertinent of you to ask.
But, happiness was never something I sought to attain. All I wanted was the satisfaction my revenge would bring me. Then, finally...that would be all I needed.
[ To move on. But, he still persists. Turning to look at Shi Qingxuan's unconscious self, He Xuan realizes that what he's done has bring him little satisfaction. Though, he also knows he would never allow anyone to scatter his ashes and end him either.
All the same, killing Shi Wudu is never something he will want take back. Only, perhaps, a certain someone else who was involved. ]
no subject
Then, are you satisfied?
cw: ... some suicidal ideation
Isn't it clear? I'll never be satisfied.
[ A slight distortion in his voice echoes when he answers. But, maybe if he killed all the gods in the Heavenly Court, he'd be satisfied, hm? Or perhaps...spite a certain part of Shi Wudu's words somehow. Yet, that's just impossible. Even someone like him has his limits. Getting close to anyone would just hold him back.
Soon enough, however, it is around this time Shi Qingxuan awakens from his 'slumber', and He Xuan asks flatly, "Do you have anything else you want to say?"
At that point, the younger male's expression and current state matches Ellis' on a surface level; though the mental damage done is undeniably deeper as he stares vacantly at He Xuan. Qingxuan only replies quietly, "...I want to die."
A dark look settles over He Xuan's face as he speaks in a icy voice, "Dream on."
Then, he steps closer to Shi Qingxuan, extending a hand towards him as the other male closes his eyes, but whatever happens next isn't something Ellis is privy to. The 'scene' ends right then and there, allowing Ellis to finally be freed from that memory prison. ]
