karaoke party!
Who: Lucia and you!
What: Karaoke Party Time
When: Fall 20
Where: Cozy Kitchen
Warnings: n/a for now
[ On Fall 15th, a notice goes up on the noticeboard advertising a karaoke party at Cozy Kitchen on Fall 20th. It may be easy to miss with all of the pirate chaos, but Lucia will put a sign at the front of the restaurant to remind her fellow farmers of the event.
When Fall 20th rolls around, the smell of Lucia's food can be smelled from outside in town square. One may also catch another redhead bringing alcohol from his winery into the restaurant, or people from the other neighboring bar moving equipment into Cozy Kitchen. When everything's said and done, the restaurant is left with a nice evening setup. It's a small-ish space but there is plenty of food and alcohol for people to indulge in, as well as non-alcoholic drinks like tea and water. The karaoke machine is set up, and there are board games from the store that people can play while they're here.
People are free to sing, open mic style, as many times as they'd like. At some point during the party, however, Lucia will make it a point to play some slower songs on the machine and cite that it's been a while since the dance in Spring. Now might be a good chance to get one last dance in with someone before Winter hits! Finally, party games will be inevitable, so go ahead and participate or run your own. ]

board games;
Though, his idea of such things are not nearly so colorful as 'Sorry' or 'Guess Who'. Usually his interest in such things would also be small, but, well. Maybe participating is how he can show his appreciation. ]
You would need to teach me how to play.
[ But he will sit down and listen to any instructions the other had to give. ]

No problem!
[ Gaku gives He Xuan a board filled with pictures, and turns it so that all the pictures are facing He Xuan and away from Gaku. ]
So, we'll each pick a person from each board and try to guess who the other person picked. You'll ask questions like "does your person have a mustache" and if I say yes, you'll knock down every single portrait of someone that doesn't have a mustache to narrow down your guess. In the same way, if I had said no, you'd knock down every portrait of a person with a mustache. Make sense?
[ If so, Gaku will pick out his person.
and we can play off of this!! ]
no subject
He too will quietly pick his person, looking at the small image held between his fingers. In some ways, people might argue guessing games are more difficult than moving pieces across the board, and capturing them within the opportune movement. Others might consider them simply puerile. But, it sounds interesting enough. ]
Makes sense.
Then, we can start. I'll go first:
Does the one you so happen to have chosen have blond hair?
[ He will look expectantly, but also curiously at Gaku, ready to hear his answer. ]
no subject
Nope. [ Heh! ]
Does your person have a mustache?
no subject
No.
[ ... ]
Does yours?
no subject
[ Ugh!! Gaku hums, looking at the spread of characters before him. ]
Does yours have a hat?
no subject
...Or, well, he'd say that but he knows this little fight isn't over yet. ]
No.
Does your person have brown hair?
no subject
[ Hm. He kind of does? ]
Yeah. He does. [ ... ] Is yours blonde?
no subject
[ Hmm...he takes pause. Has a mustache, has brown hair.
Even if this is just his first time playing it, He Xuan is just going to go and take the risk and guess. ]
Your person is this "Richard", isn't it?
no subject
Yeah. [ He sighs, mildly disappointed that he lost so easily. ] Damn, you're good.
no subject
But He Xuan is mildly satisfied winning at the first time he has tried it. ]
A game like this, it can be easy to become 'good' at...or perhaps lucky.
no subject
Yeah. If you're lucky and ask the exact right questions, you can figure it out pretty quick, huh?
no subject
I suppose I can also see the merits to why someone would consider a game like this...'fun'. Even if it's unconventional to what I'm used to.
[ Where he's from it's still 'pieces on a board' kind of deal where boardgames are concerned. Though it's not like he's made a habit of playing weiqi too often either. ]
no subject
[ A roundabout way of saying it, but Gaku will take it. ]
no subject
[ He could've aimed for plausible deniability, though realizing he can't, he will just admit it. Also, they're like pals now, so it's somewhat fine. ]
Maybe it was inevitable, even at parties that are usually annoying.
no subject
[ He doesn't mind admitting this to He Xuan, even if it's not very idol-like. ]
But here, I like being right in the middle of things.
no subject
[ Whatever the case, no judgment. It'd be silly of him to hold such things. Though, he tilts his head slightly in curiosity at the second comment. ]
...Is it because you've gotten to know the people here?
no subject
[ In all kinds of ways. ]
no subject
Suppose you also can't imagine them willing to want to have fun around you either. Like some of those here.
[ Himself included, he supposes. ]
no subject
I have a few friends in the industry, but outside of them, a lot of people care about how they look in front of me. They're worried about me disliking them or causing a scandal.
no subject
[ He Xuan has gotten to know more about Gaku now, but he's currently picturing the other man as someone who might be super rich and well-known. ]
no subject
[ It feels weird stating so plainly, but it's true. ]
I have to wear a hat, sunglasses, and a mask outside so I don't get stopped every few feet just trying to go to the convenience store.
no subject
[ Enough to make a convenience store run inconvenient. ]
no subject
[ Such as going on dates. ]
no subject
He supposes scaring them away wouldn't do well for his reputation either. Not that he was going to suggest that, nope.png ]
Hoping you're able to get more privacy when you return, at least. Suppose this was a vacation, but it'd be difficult if you were expected to pick up everything immediately, instead of gradually.
