mid-month event

With Crescentview’s newest citizens settling nicely, the Goddess has summoned everyone back to Town Square for another round of announcements. This time, her summons comes to you in the form of a hand-written note. If you happen to be out working in your field, one of her fairies will hand it directly to you, looking a little more sprightly than they did the first time you saw them. Otherwise, expect to find her request/demand to meet up in Town Square in your mailbox.

introducing: the memo board

The Memo Board is now available in Town Square. You may post messages here to your fellow neighbors, send out requests for assistance on the farm, or even solicit local singles for hot dates! Post whatever you like whenever you like. You can even post messages to the board anonymously if you so desire. The Memo Board is available here.

But wait, there’s more! The Goddess has given everyone a fun relationship-building exercise. How well do you know your neighbors? Can you identify them based on their writing alone?

By December 22nd - 12:00pm EST, please have your character submit an anonymous message to be posted to the Memo Board. Their message can be about anything they’d like and there is no length requirement or restrictions. After submissions have been received, characters will be given an opportunity to review everyone’s messages and guess which character wrote which memo. Answers will be revealed on December 29th - 12:00pm EST. A single correct guess will earn you a horse while each additional correct guess will net you a vegetable, flower, or mushroom spore seed bag of your choice. Good luck and have fun!

it's time to dance!

Every Spring 15th, the annual Flower Dance is held in Town Square. Villagers gather to dance with one another and celebrate the upcoming harvest and offer their prayers to the Goddess. Folks are encouraged to dance not just with those they fancy, but their fellow neighbors as a way to express gratitude and appreciation for the friendship and company they provide.

ICly, the dance takes place on Spring 15th and goes from 9am to 9pm.

In addition to the tasks currently available on the Task Board, a handful of new additions have been added. You may continue to work on tasks from the previous event in addition to these new tasks, but please note that tasks may only be completed within the month they are assigned. Summer starts next month, so please have all of your tasks completed and submitted by then!

The new additions are as follows:

1. Post a notice on the Memo Board. Stick up an anonymous memo and earn a single chicken or rabbit to add to your coop. You may post as many notices as you like, but you will only redeem the reward once.

2. Correctly guess who posted a memo. Discuss these anonymous notes with one another and guess who may be the author. Between December 22nd and December 29th, submit your IC votes (link coming on the 22nd) and if you guess correctly, even just once, you will get a horse! You may guess as many times as you like, but you may only redeem this reward once.

3. Partake in the Flower Dance. Pick a partner for a round of dancing, pray to the Goddess, or just celebrate the good times! For every person that you celebrate the event with, you will receive a random bag of seeds of fruits, vegetables, flowers, or mushroom spores. This task can be completed 5 times.

4. Send a letter to your neighbor. This requires you to have acquired the stationary set from the first event, so if you haven't claimed it yet, get to it! You can post letters directly on the main community or set up an inbox in your journal to send and receive hand-written letters. For each letter that you send, you will get a random gacha item. This task can be completed 3 times.

5. Harvest your crops. On the 14th, you'd be surprised to find that all of your crops are now ready for picking - even if you've only planted them the day before. The crops look bright, flavourful, and ready to be picked, so eat them, trade them, sell them, whatever! For every interaction that you have involving the bountiful harvest, you will receive a new set of clothes. This task can be completed 3 times.

The letter is written very neatly in a handwriting that should be very familiar to him. ]

[ That part was written in especially fancy cursive handwriting with calligraphy penstrokes to make graphic designers grumble with jealousy. The following content is written normally though: ]

You are a kissing fiend. I must exorcise you.

[ Yup. That's all it says. ]

This letter, shockingly, does not get a response. ]

[ A gray kitty eventually comes to greet Ellis, rolling on her back and displaying a letter tucked into her light pink collar.

The letter is short, and while the penmanship isn't elegant, it is neat: ]

You're real to me.

Ellis strongly considers tearing the letter right then and there and Haru would be able to witness the moment when Ellis seems to be at his coldest, but the cat is sent back without anything happening.

Later, Gaku will have Fluffy visit his home, letting his arrival be known with a bark. He has the usual plastic bucket around his neck, and inside it, a letter. His introductory line isn't as fancy as last time, but it consists of his neat handwriting as always. ]

Dear Gaku,

You can think whatever you would like, but mere beliefs won't change reality.

[ Hm.

He honestly expected no response at all, and for Ellis to act like he never received he letter. Because of that, Gaku isn't sure how to feel as he reads it over. Frustration, perhaps?

It isn't anger, even though maybe it should be. He sends Fluffy back with a treat and a letter. ]

People change their realities all the time because they believe in something. You're underestimating the power that has.

[ Ellis expected an answer like this. Unlike the goddess, who brought people here because of that belief, Ellis frankly thinks it's bullshit and it's a way to glorify mankind for people to receive credit for things they haven't done.

It also makes him feel bitter. He probably shouldn't reply, but he does anyway: ]

[ That's all it says. No letter to the addressee starting line or anything. ]

[ If Gaku is anything at all, he's a stubborn man, and so he sends Fluffy back with another letter. This time, he adds back the addressee line. ]

[ Gaku does not get a return visit from Fluffy this time, because Ellis doesn't send a response. ]

[ On a sunny day, He Xuan will be greeted by an adult, white samoyed dog with a bucket around its neck that's carrying a pomegranate with a letter. The samoyed, Fluffy, is usually here because of Gaku, but he's here for He Xuan this time!

The letter has a drawing of a cute tiger with very neat handwriting under it: ]

Do you think tigers can eat pomegranates?

[ He Xuan has just finished tending to the fields, so it's also easy for him to catch sight of the fluffy dog approaching...which he probably recognizes due to it likely coming by before at least because of the above referenced room mate.

Also what the hell, the doodle of the tiger is so cute??

Well, whatever the case, there is a letter being sent back, writ in elegant script: ]

[ The next day, He Xuan will receive three pomegranates along with a letter that has the doodle of the same tiger that's laying peacefully with four pomegranates. ]

[ He receives the pomegranates generously and they are gone soon enough.

In return, the other receives this simple response:

...He Xuan's drawing skills leave much to be desired, but there is an attempt at a tiger who looks rather full, and satisfied, with remains of pomegranate. Or what are supposed to be peels. It kind of looks more like a big cat than anything than specifically a tiger and small lines for the peels, but attempts were made. ]

[ That's oddly endearing. Ellis sends out another reply a day later: ]

Dear He Xuan,

I hope the tiger enjoyed the pomegranates. I was wondering what else the tiger liked--I have many apples left from the harvest, so maybe the tiger can appreciate an apple smoothie.

[ He Xuan is definitely not going to say no to more food. ]

If not, they would have been sent back.

This ghostly tiger likes many things (to eat) and would want to try what you call an "apple smoothie".

[ There is, perhaps, a chicken-scratch (??) doodle of a tiger holding an apple to accompany the letter. ]

[ He Xuan is admittedly being a test subject for Ellis for the smoothie, mostly because he realized just how much the ghost king likes to eat. The next dog delivery service comes with a letter that asks He Xuan for his opinion on the apple smoothie. Said drink is also in the bucket, but in a water bottle. It's very... apple-flavored, obviously, but there's a hint of milk and other things that make it decently creamy, but not too thick. There's even some banana in it. Everything has been blended thoroughly. No fruit chunks or anything.

Also, Fluffy the samoyed would like a treat. ]

[ What the hell, Ellis...you clearly put a ton of effort into all of this.

Well, he also likes being fed, so if someone wants to get into He Xuan's good graces, making something thoughtful and tasteful for him to eat is definitely a way!

He takes his time to savor the food, and then he realizes the dog wants a treat. But, he doesn't know how to take care of dogs. In his and Gaku's house, they also have a cat, further complicating that.

Maybe there is a mini-trip where he gets something from town, or he bugs Gaku about it. Whatever the case, treats have made their appearance. There is no accompanying letter, until the day after the dog returns. ]

[ Upon receiving the letter, it takes a while for Ellis to think how to reply. Sure, he's a fake ass bitch and he's not really sending He Xuan food just to kiss up to him, but that simple question really gets to him. What does he like? Not many things, but then he remembers his letter exchanges with Gaku on things that he likes. ]

Dear He Xuan,

I think I like potato chips.

[ A white adult samoyed dog trots over to Diluc's house one sunny day with a bucket hanging around its neck. It doesn't seem to mind as it has an assortment of apples, oranges, pears, and pomegranates like the sort of fruits basket people bring over to sick people in hospitals. There's a letter included that Diluc can pull out to read. It's in a very neat and familiar handwriting. ]

Dear Diluc,

I got a lot of fruits from the recent harvest and would like to share them with you. I hope things are getting better between you and Kaeya. I got many apples, so I've been trying to make apple smoothies. Let me know if you'd like one.

[Ah... A gift from Ellis, is it? Diluc hadn't been expecting this, and arguably, Ellis shouldn't have gone through the effort considering how their last conversation ended. He gives the doggo a pet and takes the bucket of fruits, filling it with an assortment of spring flowers to send back to Ellis along with a letter of his own.]

Ellis,

Thank you for the fruit. I'll put them to good use. I would be happy to try your smoothies any time, so let me know what your schedule looks like at your convenience.

I've sent back some flowers as a thank you for the fruit and your well wishes. You might consider making a bouquet with them to give to Gaku.

[ When Ellis gets this letter, he's just staring at it for a while...

When Diluc receives a return letter, there's only a folded paper inside the bucket. It has a chibi drawing of Diluc with a flower crown on it along with a note on the bottom that he'll meet up on the next day. ]
