mid-month event

With Crescentview’s newest citizens settling nicely, the Goddess has summoned everyone back to Town Square for another round of announcements. This time, her summons comes to you in the form of a hand-written note. If you happen to be out working in your field, one of her fairies will hand it directly to you, looking a little more sprightly than they did the first time you saw them. Otherwise, expect to find her request/demand to meet up in Town Square in your mailbox.

introducing: the memo board

The Memo Board is now available in Town Square. You may post messages here to your fellow neighbors, send out requests for assistance on the farm, or even solicit local singles for hot dates! Post whatever you like whenever you like. You can even post messages to the board anonymously if you so desire. The Memo Board is available here.

But wait, there’s more! The Goddess has given everyone a fun relationship-building exercise. How well do you know your neighbors? Can you identify them based on their writing alone?

By December 22nd - 12:00pm EST, please have your character submit an anonymous message to be posted to the Memo Board. Their message can be about anything they’d like and there is no length requirement or restrictions. After submissions have been received, characters will be given an opportunity to review everyone’s messages and guess which character wrote which memo. Answers will be revealed on December 29th - 12:00pm EST. A single correct guess will earn you a horse while each additional correct guess will net you a vegetable, flower, or mushroom spore seed bag of your choice. Good luck and have fun!

it's time to dance!

Every Spring 15th, the annual Flower Dance is held in Town Square. Villagers gather to dance with one another and celebrate the upcoming harvest and offer their prayers to the Goddess. Folks are encouraged to dance not just with those they fancy, but their fellow neighbors as a way to express gratitude and appreciation for the friendship and company they provide.

ICly, the dance takes place on Spring 15th and goes from 9am to 9pm.

In addition to the tasks currently available on the Task Board, a handful of new additions have been added. You may continue to work on tasks from the previous event in addition to these new tasks, but please note that tasks may only be completed within the month they are assigned. Summer starts next month, so please have all of your tasks completed and submitted by then!

The new additions are as follows:

1. Post a notice on the Memo Board. Stick up an anonymous memo and earn a single chicken or rabbit to add to your coop. You may post as many notices as you like, but you will only redeem the reward once.

2. Correctly guess who posted a memo. Discuss these anonymous notes with one another and guess who may be the author. Between December 22nd and December 29th, submit your IC votes (link coming on the 22nd) and if you guess correctly, even just once, you will get a horse! You may guess as many times as you like, but you may only redeem this reward once.

3. Partake in the Flower Dance. Pick a partner for a round of dancing, pray to the Goddess, or just celebrate the good times! For every person that you celebrate the event with, you will receive a random bag of seeds of fruits, vegetables, flowers, or mushroom spores. This task can be completed 5 times.

4. Send a letter to your neighbor. This requires you to have acquired the stationary set from the first event, so if you haven't claimed it yet, get to it! You can post letters directly on the main community or set up an inbox in your journal to send and receive hand-written letters. For each letter that you send, you will get a random gacha item. This task can be completed 3 times.

5. Harvest your crops. On the 14th, you'd be surprised to find that all of your crops are now ready for picking - even if you've only planted them the day before. The crops look bright, flavourful, and ready to be picked, so eat them, trade them, sell them, whatever! For every interaction that you have involving the bountiful harvest, you will receive a new set of clothes. This task can be completed 3 times.

i. flower dance

[ Ellis is here in a button-up shirt and gray pants, sometimes eating food away from everyone else or pulling you to dance with him. Sorry he has no concept of personal space if it isn't his, but he tries spinning you into his arms to initiate a slow dance. This guy thinks he's so suave. ]

ii. harvest ft. cats

[ Maybe this is Souji's heaven, but on the farm field that belongs to Souji and Ellis, there are a bunch of cats on there, led by a white cat with green eyes. There are a few that's trying to eat some of the harvest, some are sleeping on top of a sleeping sheep, but most of them are trying to collect whatever harvests and plunking them into baskets. This seems... awfully coordinated somehow, until you realize the white cat with the green eyes seems to be somehow rounding them up like a sheepdog and teaching them what to do. If one is misbehaving like eating a cabbage, it paws its face. Do not eat my harvest, young one. ]

iii. the doctor is in

[ Ellis isn't a doctor by all means and sense of the word, but he's in a small office in town with his recently opened business, Stable Solutions, where he uses his powers for a small fee to settle whatever his customers want to be stabilized. There have been requests like "my lips are too dry" or "I want to stop my hand from shaking". They're only stabilized until Ellis stops using his powers and are affected by an outside stimuli again, but the relief on some people's faces have them coming back.

However, what startles Ellis is that when a townsperson comes in with a kid, they cry upon seeing Ellis's face immediately. What. What did he do!! If he sees you walking inside, his expression immediately calls to you for help because his powers do not work on the child for some reason. Help. ]

[ That part was written in especially fancy cursive handwriting with calligraphy penstrokes to make graphic designers grumble with jealousy. The following content is written normally though: ]

[ A gray kitty eventually comes to greet Ellis, rolling on her back and displaying a letter tucked into her light pink collar.

The letter is short, and while the penmanship isn't elegant, it is neat: ]

[ On a sunny day, He Xuan will be greeted by an adult, white samoyed dog with a bucket around its neck that's carrying a pomegranate with a letter. The samoyed, Fluffy, is usually here because of Gaku, but he's here for He Xuan this time!

The letter has a drawing of a cute tiger with very neat handwriting under it: ]

Do you think tigers can eat pomegranates?

[ A white adult samoyed dog trots over to Diluc's house one sunny day with a bucket hanging around its neck. It doesn't seem to mind as it has an assortment of apples, oranges, pears, and pomegranates like the sort of fruits basket people bring over to sick people in hospitals. There's a letter included that Diluc can pull out to read. It's in a very neat and familiar handwriting. ]

Dear Diluc,

I got a lot of fruits from the recent harvest and would like to share them with you. I hope things are getting better between you and Kaeya. I got many apples, so I've been trying to make apple smoothies. Let me know if you'd like one.

[ If anyone else tried to pull him in to dance... okay, he'd look a little grumpy about it, at worst. But Ellis is a comrade in number-names. M-21 snorts and lets himself be reeled in.

It's a little suave, to be honest. ]

[ Ellis grins as if to say that it's fine. He interlaces his fingers with M-21's and has the other hand at his side, slowly swaying them. Just sway a little with him in this predictable rhythm and he will be good. ]

[ So does this guy. Gaku laughs, letting himself be spun into someone else's arms for once. It's odd being on the receiving end of it, but hey, he doesn't mind it. ]

Not even going to give a guy a warning, are you?

[ Nope! No warning at all! Ellis has mastered the art of spinning people a little more with each person he tries it on and he's honestly having a blast. He grins, putting a hand on Gaku's side and lacing their fingers together with the other hand. Ellis is leading as he sways them slowly from side to side. ]

[ Cats running an entire farm isn't something he expected to see when he decided to come over and bother Ellis about his existence some more.

The cats are cute, at least, so Gaku goes to find their leader, scooping the little white cat up and into his arms. ]

What are you doing?

[ Ellis is absolutely startled about being somehow lifted off the ground without warning, so he flails and hisses in Gaku's arms until looking up to see that it's Gaku.

...

Then he sits in Gaku's arms like nothing happened and washes his face. ]

[ Waking up as a cat has been one of the most disconcerting things to happen to him thus far, namely due to the difficulty involving in keeping his Vision with him at all times. No way to fight without it. Childe's taken to shoving it in his mouth while prowling around. It's less than ideal.

Wandering into Ellis's business for reasons that mostly boil down to being incredibly hungry (not a bite to eat since turning into a literal furry), he's setting his Vision down to wander about the place like a little feline menace. Ironic that as soon as he gained possession of his bow, he lost the ability to wield it, but whatever.

He's also meowing, his Vision still shoved in his mouth. It sounds very plaintive, and sad, and frankly hilarious, like a feline throwing a tantrum for reasons beyond the scope of human comprehension. ]

[ Unfortunately for Childe, Ellis does not hear those sad meows. His white, adult male samoyed does though. He will occasionally paw at kitty Childe until Ellis bends over to pick Childe up from the floor. Oh, a shiny. What's this? He thinks he saw something like this before...

He'll think about it. Ellis puts Childe down on the front desk, which is his main "work station" where he handles requests on the spot, and goes to the kitchenette in the back and comes back with a plate of wet cat food. He sets it down in front of Childe. Eat, my child. ]

[Curiosity has taken over and Konoe explores the island several different times during his first week here. He tires easily these days, and can't wander as far without resting. Unsure at this point how far it is to return to his own farm, he's passing by Ellis's, looking for a nice spot to nap, and occasionally stooping to pick up some pretty flowers and tuck them into his belt. What he'll do with them later, he doesn't know, but perhaps he'll dry them and decorate his kitchen area with them, brighten it up. As he wanders further into the fields looking for a patch of long grass, his tail sways back and forth in content.]

[ Ellis comes out of his house to look over the farm fields like usual, but then he sees... a catboy? He hasn't looked at his pamphlet in a while and wonders if he got added in, because physical cat traits among people are rare. It's quiet when Ellis goes behind Konoe and tries to grab him by the tail. Is it real?? ]

( honestly? she should have expected this from ellis- considering the guy hugged her like a warm pillow at night hour one of their time on the island? yyyyeah. not that satoko's complaining, ultimately- ellis is cute and fun and makes her laugh, just as she's doing now as he pulls her in for the dance. )

[ Ellis nods, though he does a slow dance, because that's all he knows. He tries to be more delicate about touching her side because it's Satoko. It seems he may be slightly fond of her. His other hand holds Satoko's and laces their fingers together as he leads them, going slowly from side to side. ]

[ he just looks at the kid and looks at ellis and then also looks at the kid again. ]

Don’t look at me. Maybe the kid’s just entirely anti-doctor?

[ But he's not a doctor!! Despite that, they came in here for an extreme fever lowering, so Ellis stabilizes his temperature at the very least and then tells the mother that she should go to the hospital as soon as possible. The kid has been crying the whole time...

When they're gone, Ellis shoots a Look at Crow. He wasn't helpful at all!! Hmph! ]

[ Gaku leaves Ellis alone for a week and a half because he's pissed. He knows he needs to cool his head, otherwise he'd make things worse and not overcome this self-inflicted challenge.

But he eventually shows up at the farm anyway, waving to Ellis to get his attention when he sees him out in the field.

Is Ellis going to run or not? ]

[Owen has no interest in stability, as a general rule. He likes things to be imbalanced and chaotic! He also refuses to get help, but that's just what Northerners are like... Well, he also can't even read the sign over Ellis' building, so there's that, too.

Still, what does catch his interest is the sound of a child crying. They're... really going for it, and Owen is nosy. He has to go check it out.]

[ Laurent is pretty amicable to the idea of dancing with strangers. He'd spent his youth in clubs and bars, being too close to unknown bodies, and in his later days, formal mingling for 'work' could land him in some waltzes at parties thrown by the rich and gullible.

So when Ellis goes to nab him for a dance, he accepting his forward offer with a pleasant smile. ]
