mid-month event

With Crescentview’s newest citizens settling nicely, the Goddess has summoned everyone back to Town Square for another round of announcements. This time, her summons comes to you in the form of a hand-written note. If you happen to be out working in your field, one of her fairies will hand it directly to you, looking a little more sprightly than they did the first time you saw them. Otherwise, expect to find her request/demand to meet up in Town Square in your mailbox.

introducing: the memo board

The Memo Board is now available in Town Square. You may post messages here to your fellow neighbors, send out requests for assistance on the farm, or even solicit local singles for hot dates! Post whatever you like whenever you like. You can even post messages to the board anonymously if you so desire. The Memo Board is available here.

But wait, there’s more! The Goddess has given everyone a fun relationship-building exercise. How well do you know your neighbors? Can you identify them based on their writing alone?

By December 22nd - 12:00pm EST, please have your character submit an anonymous message to be posted to the Memo Board. Their message can be about anything they’d like and there is no length requirement or restrictions. After submissions have been received, characters will be given an opportunity to review everyone’s messages and guess which character wrote which memo. Answers will be revealed on December 29th - 12:00pm EST. A single correct guess will earn you a horse while each additional correct guess will net you a vegetable, flower, or mushroom spore seed bag of your choice. Good luck and have fun!

it's time to dance!

Every Spring 15th, the annual Flower Dance is held in Town Square. Villagers gather to dance with one another and celebrate the upcoming harvest and offer their prayers to the Goddess. Folks are encouraged to dance not just with those they fancy, but their fellow neighbors as a way to express gratitude and appreciation for the friendship and company they provide.

ICly, the dance takes place on Spring 15th and goes from 9am to 9pm.

In addition to the tasks currently available on the Task Board, a handful of new additions have been added. You may continue to work on tasks from the previous event in addition to these new tasks, but please note that tasks may only be completed within the month they are assigned. Summer starts next month, so please have all of your tasks completed and submitted by then!

The new additions are as follows:

1. Post a notice on the Memo Board. Stick up an anonymous memo and earn a single chicken or rabbit to add to your coop. You may post as many notices as you like, but you will only redeem the reward once.

2. Correctly guess who posted a memo. Discuss these anonymous notes with one another and guess who may be the author. Between December 22nd and December 29th, submit your IC votes (link coming on the 22nd) and if you guess correctly, even just once, you will get a horse! You may guess as many times as you like, but you may only redeem this reward once.

3. Partake in the Flower Dance. Pick a partner for a round of dancing, pray to the Goddess, or just celebrate the good times! For every person that you celebrate the event with, you will receive a random bag of seeds of fruits, vegetables, flowers, or mushroom spores. This task can be completed 5 times.

4. Send a letter to your neighbor. This requires you to have acquired the stationary set from the first event, so if you haven't claimed it yet, get to it! You can post letters directly on the main community or set up an inbox in your journal to send and receive hand-written letters. For each letter that you send, you will get a random gacha item. This task can be completed 3 times.

5. Harvest your crops. On the 14th, you'd be surprised to find that all of your crops are now ready for picking - even if you've only planted them the day before. The crops look bright, flavourful, and ready to be picked, so eat them, trade them, sell them, whatever! For every interaction that you have involving the bountiful harvest, you will receive a new set of clothes. This task can be completed 3 times.

Don’t look at me. Maybe the kid’s just entirely anti-doctor?

[ But he's not a doctor!! Despite that, they came in here for an extreme fever lowering, so Ellis stabilizes his temperature at the very least and then tells the mother that she should go to the hospital as soon as possible. The kid has been crying the whole time...

When they're gone, Ellis shoots a Look at Crow. He wasn't helpful at all!! Hmph! ]

[ crow just stood here like 🧍 and now he is being frowned at. ]

Maybe the kid needs a nap.

[ he’s always helpful. ]

Ellis shrugs and gets out another chair so that he can sit across from him, assuming that he came for some requests. ]

[ he probably just wandered in but he’ll make himself comfortable either way. ]

So, you have an interest in medicine or something?

[framestory]

[ Ellis shakes his head, writing on his notepad and showing it to Crow. ]

It's my powers and not meant to be a cure, but it relieves a lot of pain. That's good enough until they see an actual doctor.

… Do they know they still need to go and see the doctor?

[ not that he’s calling ellis irresponsible or anything but there is a note of … not concern, but wanting to know to be sure. ]

As long as they do, then there shouldn’t be an issue.

[framestory]

[ Ellis nods. He makes sure to tell them afterwards by pointing to a torn out page that says "PLEASE GO SEE A DOCTOR SOON". It looks like it's been pointed out many times already.

But anyway. ]

[ Like maybe crow's addiction to running away from affection??? ]

[ why would he want his lack of commitment fixing? ]

Ahhh. You’ve thought of everything there, huh?

[ hmm. well. ]

I was mostly just wandering and heard the uh… [ he waves a hand over at where the kid left. ] noise.

[framestory]

[ Maybe if I were Ellis, I'd force him--

But he smiles sheepishly. Man, the noise must have been loud. ]

I'll make it free this once, just for you.

Careful, if you go around offering freebies like that, people might think you’re playing favourites.

[ is he wanting to touch his abs, is that it. ]

[ Ellis shrugs. It seems he doesn't care about that. Surprising.

Tell him your deepest desires, Crow. And no... ]

[ everyone wants to touch his abs. (no) ]

… Honestly, I’m not sure what I’d even need checking out. Like I said, I heard crying and I got nosy. But I can always be a little shadow in the background.

[framestory]

[ He looks up at Crow, because he wants to spend time with him! Let him learn about Crow! Also it's really hard to be a menace to him and he really wants to be one to Crow. Don't ask why. Maybe it's the difficulty level.

But anyway, he gestures to a seat off to the side so that Ellis can still see Crow speak whenever he does since the chair in front of him is reserved for customers. ]

[ how do you menace the menace? it’s a tough job, ellis.

but, hey. he’s here, so he’ll shrug a shoulder — friendly, rather than dismissive, at least. and he’ll take the seat off to one side, as ellis is suggesting. ]

You just doing walk-ins?

[framestory]

[ Ellis nods, quickly writing a note to Crow. ]

I just opened the place, so I don't have appointments to keep yet. I'll let word spread first.

[ ...

He just realized that he can't take appointments through calls, because he can't hear. They'll just have to come all the way here to make an appointment. Yeah. No big deal.

There's a teenager that comes in who says that they're nervous about studying. She sits in the chair in front of Ellis and he just lightly touches her forehead. She seems very calm at the end of it, thanks Ellis, pays him, and leaves.

Easy money. ]

[ maybe they can leave notes. man, if the goddess could just invent the internet this would be sorted. ]

[ well, crow watches with more than a little interest at the whole process. he's looking for any signs of, well... magic. or arts. something that makes sense to him, in a way he can comprehend.

when the girl has paid and moved on, he tilts his head. ]

So. Like a Water Art? Healing, or something along those lines?

[framestory]

[ Ellis will try to explain it in the easiest way he can, but it takes him a while because he's writing all this on the notepad: ]

It's stabilizing things. If the body temperature is too high, I can stabilize it according to my standard. If the person is furious. I can calm them immediately. If something is about to explode because there's something that's reacting too much, I can stabilize that so it won't explode.

It's not permanent though. It lasts as long as I use my power and whenever they're exposed to outside stimuli that makes it happen again.

So they’re good until they feel too much and then it’s back to square one.

[ he looks thoughtful. it’s not like it’s a bad thing to have — like a pause in which something can be done. moving people away from danger. calming someone out of a spiral. that kind of thing. ]

You can use it on inanimate objects as well?

[framestory]

[ Ellis nods. Let's see... oh. He excuses himself just a moment, heading to the back and then returning with a cold bottle of water. He lets Crow hold it to feel that it's definitely cold. But two seconds later, the water and the plastic bottle are at room temperature despite science. ]

[ he tap the bottle. he tap the bottle again.

wowee. ]

Huh.

[ he touches it again, with his other hand like he’s testing it in case the temperature of one hand is messed up. ]

So, that’s a yes then.

[framestory]

[ Ellis nods again and holds his hand out to Crow in case he doesn't want to drink room temperature water. ]

Do you think it's somehow dangerous too? People who keep finding out about my powers keep saying that.

[ But he doesn't get it. ]

[ he shrugs, and takes a sip of the water at room temp. he’s not picky. ]

Depends. You planning on doing something dangerous with it?

[framestory]

[ uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ]

Like making some lovestruck person extremely calm and fall out of love with someone?

[ hmmmm. ]

Depends on the context, right? If the person’s being hurt, maybe it’s better for them. If it’s because you have some ulterior motive, then — [ he wobbles his hand. ]
