dec mid-month event.
mid-month event
With Crescentview’s newest citizens settling nicely, the Goddess has summoned everyone back to Town Square for another round of announcements. This time, her summons comes to you in the form of a hand-written note. If you happen to be out working in your field, one of her fairies will hand it directly to you, looking a little more sprightly than they did the first time you saw them. Otherwise, expect to find her request/demand to meet up in Town Square in your mailbox.
introducing: the memo board
The Memo Board is now available in Town Square. You may post messages here to your fellow neighbors, send out requests for assistance on the farm, or even solicit local singles for hot dates! Post whatever you like whenever you like. You can even post messages to the board anonymously if you so desire. The Memo Board is available here.
But wait, there’s more! The Goddess has given everyone a fun relationship-building exercise. How well do you know your neighbors? Can you identify them based on their writing alone?
By December 22nd - 12:00pm EST, please have your character submit an anonymous message to be posted to the Memo Board. Their message can be about anything they’d like and there is no length requirement or restrictions. After submissions have been received, characters will be given an opportunity to review everyone’s messages and guess which character wrote which memo. Answers will be revealed on December 29th - 12:00pm EST. A single correct guess will earn you a horse while each additional correct guess will net you a vegetable, flower, or mushroom spore seed bag of your choice. Good luck and have fun!
it's time to dance!
Every Spring 15th, the annual Flower Dance is held in Town Square. Villagers gather to dance with one another and celebrate the upcoming harvest and offer their prayers to the Goddess. Folks are encouraged to dance not just with those they fancy, but their fellow neighbors as a way to express gratitude and appreciation for the friendship and company they provide.
ICly, the dance takes place on Spring 15th and goes from 9am to 9pm.
task board
In addition to the tasks currently available on the Task Board, a handful of new additions have been added. You may continue to work on tasks from the previous event in addition to these new tasks, but please note that tasks may only be completed within the month they are assigned. Summer starts next month, so please have all of your tasks completed and submitted by then!
The new additions are as follows:
1. Post a notice on the Memo Board. Stick up an anonymous memo and earn a single chicken or rabbit to add to your coop. You may post as many notices as you like, but you will only redeem the reward once.
2. Correctly guess who posted a memo. Discuss these anonymous notes with one another and guess who may be the author. Between December 22nd and December 29th, submit your IC votes (link coming on the 22nd) and if you guess correctly, even just once, you will get a horse! You may guess as many times as you like, but you may only redeem this reward once.
3. Partake in the Flower Dance. Pick a partner for a round of dancing, pray to the Goddess, or just celebrate the good times! For every person that you celebrate the event with, you will receive a random bag of seeds of fruits, vegetables, flowers, or mushroom spores. This task can be completed 5 times.
4. Send a letter to your neighbor. This requires you to have acquired the stationary set from the first event, so if you haven't claimed it yet, get to it! You can post letters directly on the main community or set up an inbox in your journal to send and receive hand-written letters. For each letter that you send, you will get a random gacha item. This task can be completed 3 times.
5. Harvest your crops. On the 14th, you'd be surprised to find that all of your crops are now ready for picking - even if you've only planted them the day before. The crops look bright, flavourful, and ready to be picked, so eat them, trade them, sell them, whatever! For every interaction that you have involving the bountiful harvest, you will receive a new set of clothes. This task can be completed 3 times.

[ Even when they were in high school, they'd never attended a dance. A large part of it had been their empathy. There had always been too many feelings running high that it was...
Overwhelming is a vast understatement. Now, though, Mira knows how to keep that in check. It's rare that any emotions manage to pierce through their "shield," but it's happened. Those times are few and far between. Nevermind that it's already happened here once... Anyway.
Mira keeps to themselves as they make their way through the booths. They won't say no to any sort of company, though. ]
two.
[ If they just happen to be invited to dance... they turn a bit pink and and flounder somewhat. There are so many other people that Mira isn't sure why they're being asked. ]
I've never danced before, so I'm not the best person to ask.
three.
[ Before the dance, though, they wake up to a surprise.
It looks like it's not real. Obviously, it is, but it shouldn't be. After a while of staring dumbfounded through the window, they go out and kneel down in front of one of the plants. ]
This is...
[ What the fuck. ]
wildcard.
[ Hit me with a starter, or on discord! I'm open for anything. ]

At least he recently learned this, otherwise he would have forgotten. ]

You're really sure, aren't you? ... I don't mind, though.

Like this?
[ Of course like this!! They're just still trying to catch their breath, that's all. ]

no subject
They're at a loss, but it's not... bad. Quite the opposite, and maybe that's what scares them the most. They need to say something, so-- ]
Is this okay?
[ closes my eyes. ]

Ellis smiles and nods, trying to be reassuring and making himself easy to follow. He's definitely having fun right now. With his free hand, he interfaces fingers with Mira's free hand.
Have some more intimacy. ]

2; probably later in the evening for continuities sake
[Owen and Mira have talked only once before, but it was enough to put them on his radar. He wants to see Mira squirm, or see if he can truly crack that placid exterior…]
no subject
Yeah, they remember him. They should tell him no and just leave, but instead, they nod. They're cautious, and it shows on their face, but he shouldn't be too surprised, right? ]
I guess so.
no subject
Well? Are you going to accept? It's good practice, unless you're not the sort who wants to improve yourself.
no subject
I'll accept. [ ... ] I never got your name. I'm Mira.
no subject
[A nice, normal name for a nice, normal wizard.]
Now, let's get this over with.
[And it's time to drag Mira into a dance!]
no subject
[ They wish they knew better how to dance. There's something about Owen that makes them not want to defer to him in any way, but they don't want to make a total fool of themselves when he could use it as ammo.
So... they rest their hand on his shoulder. It's a shock, like diving into freezing water, just how cold he is. It's unnerving, but they don't pull their hand away or anything like that. They'rejust waiting for him to take the lead. ]

[ Says Tartaglia, amusement threading through his voice like some discordant curse, smiling more with his mouth than his eyes. Noticeably, he's ditched the Harbinger uniform— couldn't keep going around in a single change of clothes until time immemorial— for something a lot less subdued. Muted colors in this ensemble he's currently donned, more plain on the eyes, even if there's nothing he can do about being a ginger, short of a bad dye job.
In a couple of steps, Tartaglia's stepped into pace, trailing after them in the same respect that sharks do: moving just to breathe, as though he'll risk death otherwise. A flair for the dramatics has always been one of the closest things to his heart. ]
Care for company?
no subject
[ They give him a sideways look and a smile touched with mirth. They've chosen something plain, too, because they're not the flashy type. Hands in their pockets, they fall into step next to him. ]
I won't say no to your company. It makes the night a little less lonely, right?
no subject
[ Tartaglia rolls his shoulders, clearly in his element. It's written all over his face: he enjoys celebrations like these the most. ]
You don't find anything fun about the festivities, Mira?
[ Or did they just want someone to spend it with? ]
no subject
[ They fall quiet, looking out toward the festivities. Then, they look at him, almost embarrassed. ]
I'm not used to this sort of thing. I've always been too busy, among other reasons.
[ Large crowds mean too many emotions, but they don't mention that. ]
no subject
[ Chasing down Scaramouche and committing war crimes in a foreign land took precedence over any idle pastimes. ]
Now that my schedule's opened up, I can't think of better company. I have to ask, though: how's your head?
[ Even with magic, concussions are no joke. ]
no subject
They're a bit taken aback by the question and the concern. They recover quickly, at least. ]
Ah, yeah. No pain or lasting damage, I think. What about you?
[ It'd gotten pretty... intense. ]

but as the night goes on, she finds her nerve, somehow or another. with a gulp, she steels herself -- the worst they can say is no, isn't it? ]
Um...
[ oh, this is already going swimmingly, she chides herself-- ]
Have...you tried any of the food yet? It's really good!
[ a painfully obvious icebreaker... ]
no subject
Yeah, I have. But there's still plenty of food to try. [ They nod their head toward the stalls. ] Do you want to help me figure out what to try?
no subject
I'd be happy to, if you wouldn't mind the company. ...I know sometimes things like this can be a little...well, you know.
[ she's no stranger to feeling overwhelmed when a lot of people are in the same place... ]
