mid-month event

With Crescentview’s newest citizens settling nicely, the Goddess has summoned everyone back to Town Square for another round of announcements. This time, her summons comes to you in the form of a hand-written note. If you happen to be out working in your field, one of her fairies will hand it directly to you, looking a little more sprightly than they did the first time you saw them. Otherwise, expect to find her request/demand to meet up in Town Square in your mailbox.

introducing: the memo board

The Memo Board is now available in Town Square. You may post messages here to your fellow neighbors, send out requests for assistance on the farm, or even solicit local singles for hot dates! Post whatever you like whenever you like. You can even post messages to the board anonymously if you so desire. The Memo Board is available here.

But wait, there’s more! The Goddess has given everyone a fun relationship-building exercise. How well do you know your neighbors? Can you identify them based on their writing alone?

By December 22nd - 12:00pm EST, please have your character submit an anonymous message to be posted to the Memo Board. Their message can be about anything they’d like and there is no length requirement or restrictions. After submissions have been received, characters will be given an opportunity to review everyone’s messages and guess which character wrote which memo. Answers will be revealed on December 29th - 12:00pm EST. A single correct guess will earn you a horse while each additional correct guess will net you a vegetable, flower, or mushroom spore seed bag of your choice. Good luck and have fun!

it's time to dance!

Every Spring 15th, the annual Flower Dance is held in Town Square. Villagers gather to dance with one another and celebrate the upcoming harvest and offer their prayers to the Goddess. Folks are encouraged to dance not just with those they fancy, but their fellow neighbors as a way to express gratitude and appreciation for the friendship and company they provide.

ICly, the dance takes place on Spring 15th and goes from 9am to 9pm.

In addition to the tasks currently available on the Task Board, a handful of new additions have been added. You may continue to work on tasks from the previous event in addition to these new tasks, but please note that tasks may only be completed within the month they are assigned. Summer starts next month, so please have all of your tasks completed and submitted by then!

The new additions are as follows:

1. Post a notice on the Memo Board. Stick up an anonymous memo and earn a single chicken or rabbit to add to your coop. You may post as many notices as you like, but you will only redeem the reward once.

2. Correctly guess who posted a memo. Discuss these anonymous notes with one another and guess who may be the author. Between December 22nd and December 29th, submit your IC votes (link coming on the 22nd) and if you guess correctly, even just once, you will get a horse! You may guess as many times as you like, but you may only redeem this reward once.

3. Partake in the Flower Dance. Pick a partner for a round of dancing, pray to the Goddess, or just celebrate the good times! For every person that you celebrate the event with, you will receive a random bag of seeds of fruits, vegetables, flowers, or mushroom spores. This task can be completed 5 times.

4. Send a letter to your neighbor. This requires you to have acquired the stationary set from the first event, so if you haven't claimed it yet, get to it! You can post letters directly on the main community or set up an inbox in your journal to send and receive hand-written letters. For each letter that you send, you will get a random gacha item. This task can be completed 3 times.

5. Harvest your crops. On the 14th, you'd be surprised to find that all of your crops are now ready for picking - even if you've only planted them the day before. The crops look bright, flavourful, and ready to be picked, so eat them, trade them, sell them, whatever! For every interaction that you have involving the bountiful harvest, you will receive a new set of clothes. This task can be completed 3 times.

Though, when Gaku approaches, despite the fact that he has made somewhat of an effort to look presentable with his hair up, when the other says that, his cheeks are stuffed with food.

[ Of course He Xuan has his face stuff with food. At this point, Gaku should've expected it. ]

No, no. Take your time. I'll be here.

[ Always glad to live up to expectations (?)

Anyway, when Gaku says 'take your time', he swallows. Then stuffs his face a couple of more times. When he's satisfied, he will properly look away from the food. ]

I'm ready now.

[ At least they have danced before so it's familiar... ]

[ Gaku quickly gets into position so that he's the one leading. If He Xuan wants to change that, he'll have to force it. ]

I'm not making dinner tonight.

[ He certainly does. ]

I'll lead this time.

[ He Xuan states with it not being a question...but there is a pause as he reorients his position and expects Gaku to do the same. ]

Because of the celebration?

[ He Xuan supposes that makes sense. Though he's a bit of a greedy, hungry ghost and is disappointed he isn't going to have a million meals today made by someone else (as in celebration food AND dinner.) ]

[associative]

[ Ugh, fine!! He'll reluctantly let He Xuan lead, his hand resting on his shoulder instead of his waist. ]

Yeah. You've eaten a lot. Like hell I'm making dinner tonight.

[esurientabyss]

[ This also gives him time to practice, recalling what he witnessed and experienced of Gaku in his memory in their slow dance...and so he goes about it with that amount of speed all the same.

Anyway, he is not pouting. But he does add something petulantly: ]

...Could always have room for dessert.

Isn't there plenty of dessert for you to have here?

[ He frowns. If He Xuan likes his cooking that much, he should just say so! ]

[ He Xuan is allergic to saying nice things.

But, he can definitely settle for: ]

[ Just give him the compliment, He Xuan! Gaku raises an eyebrow, but the frown on his face is still very much present. ]

Not the same, huh? Go on. I'm waiting.

[ Is it the worst thing he doesn't know where to begin? ]

[ This is harder than facing even all the gods in Heavenly Court all at once (not that he's done that, because fuck that noise) and ruining someone's Heavenly Calamity- oh wait. ]

[ He Xuan is simply met with a blank look. ]

What does that even mean?

The Heavenly Court is where the gods reside.

[ He says, explaining that, at least. ]

...So is the food good?

[ He would hope so.

But also how does this guy know what the food there tastes like? He said he wasn't human, but damn... ]

Yes, it's very good, even if the company wasn't.

[ It probably should have occurred to him that might be something someone was unfamiliar with, but unfortunately he could not logic that faster his brain was too full of MORE FOOD, alas his single-mindedness when it comes to this sort of thing. ]

Really? I'm kinda surprised the company was bad.

[ But this is the second person that's mentioned shitty gods to him, so... maybe he shouldn't be surprised. ]

...Gods and goddesses believe they are better than others, but can be insufferable about their superiority and weaknesses.

[ Of course, He Xuan is a biased source. But also, a god honestly fucked him over, so there is that as well. ]

[ He falls into a thoughtful silence, mulling that information over in his head. ]

You're not the first person here to say similar things about gods to me.

[ They're such insufferable beings who have ruined the lives of many...for the most part. ]

...Have you seen a god before coming here?

No. Where I'm from, gods are things that a lot of people believe in, but there's no real proof of their existence. A lot of people only believe in one.

[ Gaku is notably excluding himself from those statements, but he doesn't think much of it at all. ]

...Do you? And if you don't, what exactly do you believe in?

[ Gods, yourself, other people? The efforts of oneself only? ]

Nothing, I guess. I've never given it a lot of thought.

[ He will point out. He remembers Gaku mentioning briefly that he performs before they did a little dancing before all of this. ]

[ He looks up in thought. ]

But isn't that different than believing in a god?

[ He Xuan just says like he believes it fits perfectly in line with the current topic. ]
