mid-month event

With Crescentview’s newest citizens settling nicely, the Goddess has summoned everyone back to Town Square for another round of announcements. This time, her summons comes to you in the form of a hand-written note. If you happen to be out working in your field, one of her fairies will hand it directly to you, looking a little more sprightly than they did the first time you saw them. Otherwise, expect to find her request/demand to meet up in Town Square in your mailbox.

introducing: the memo board

The Memo Board is now available in Town Square. You may post messages here to your fellow neighbors, send out requests for assistance on the farm, or even solicit local singles for hot dates! Post whatever you like whenever you like. You can even post messages to the board anonymously if you so desire. The Memo Board is available here.

But wait, there’s more! The Goddess has given everyone a fun relationship-building exercise. How well do you know your neighbors? Can you identify them based on their writing alone?

By December 22nd - 12:00pm EST, please have your character submit an anonymous message to be posted to the Memo Board. Their message can be about anything they’d like and there is no length requirement or restrictions. After submissions have been received, characters will be given an opportunity to review everyone’s messages and guess which character wrote which memo. Answers will be revealed on December 29th - 12:00pm EST. A single correct guess will earn you a horse while each additional correct guess will net you a vegetable, flower, or mushroom spore seed bag of your choice. Good luck and have fun!

it's time to dance!

Every Spring 15th, the annual Flower Dance is held in Town Square. Villagers gather to dance with one another and celebrate the upcoming harvest and offer their prayers to the Goddess. Folks are encouraged to dance not just with those they fancy, but their fellow neighbors as a way to express gratitude and appreciation for the friendship and company they provide.

ICly, the dance takes place on Spring 15th and goes from 9am to 9pm.

In addition to the tasks currently available on the Task Board, a handful of new additions have been added. You may continue to work on tasks from the previous event in addition to these new tasks, but please note that tasks may only be completed within the month they are assigned. Summer starts next month, so please have all of your tasks completed and submitted by then!

The new additions are as follows:

1. Post a notice on the Memo Board. Stick up an anonymous memo and earn a single chicken or rabbit to add to your coop. You may post as many notices as you like, but you will only redeem the reward once.

2. Correctly guess who posted a memo. Discuss these anonymous notes with one another and guess who may be the author. Between December 22nd and December 29th, submit your IC votes (link coming on the 22nd) and if you guess correctly, even just once, you will get a horse! You may guess as many times as you like, but you may only redeem this reward once.

3. Partake in the Flower Dance. Pick a partner for a round of dancing, pray to the Goddess, or just celebrate the good times! For every person that you celebrate the event with, you will receive a random bag of seeds of fruits, vegetables, flowers, or mushroom spores. This task can be completed 5 times.

4. Send a letter to your neighbor. This requires you to have acquired the stationary set from the first event, so if you haven't claimed it yet, get to it! You can post letters directly on the main community or set up an inbox in your journal to send and receive hand-written letters. For each letter that you send, you will get a random gacha item. This task can be completed 3 times.

5. Harvest your crops. On the 14th, you'd be surprised to find that all of your crops are now ready for picking - even if you've only planted them the day before. The crops look bright, flavourful, and ready to be picked, so eat them, trade them, sell them, whatever! For every interaction that you have involving the bountiful harvest, you will receive a new set of clothes. This task can be completed 3 times.

[ Gaku has dressed up a bit for the dance, styling himself in a dark gray button-up tucked into a pair of slacks with black suspenders over top of the shirt. He's trying to make this farmer chic style work for him, even if it's not something he's a big fan of.

Which, speaking of... he's not a big fan of actually approaching people at parties, but he decides to forego his own dislike for it in the name of making an effort to connect with people here, so he'll walk up to anyone wallflowering or without a partner, extending a hand. ]

[ Waking up to see all of their trees now have fruit, their flowers have bloomed, and their mushrooms have grown nicely is a great way to start the morning. It puts Gaku in a good mood, so much so that he's up and at 'em early in the morning. Should anyone come to his farm, he's up in one of his trees, a coconut in hand. ]

Watch out! I'm throwing this to the ground!

[ Later that afternoon, he's unfortunately come down with some sort of... affliction. Even more unfortunately, he doesn't realize it until he approaches someone with a small basket of flowers. ]

Do you like flowers, nya?

[ His eyes widen in horror as he resists the urge to simply walk away and lock himself in his house. ]

[ Come at me!! I'm open for any of the other tasks, and I've got my plotting comment here if you'd rather hit me up there! Also, feel free to have heard an embarrassing rumor about Gaku being spread around by the NPCs. ]

I thought about it a lot and I might have a preference for crunchy and crispy food, like potato chips. I don't have an exact favorite food and this is the closest I got. I like regular drinking water the most. Animals usually don't care about me, but if it's just seeing them, I like birds. I like watching seagulls annoy people. It's funny.

I only got to experience spring, so I guess it would be spring for my favorite season.

[ Lucia is absolutely wallflowering today, especially since she has yet to set foot onto the dance floor. She should have brought a book with her, she figures, instead of making herself look like a loner. Looks like she won't have to worry about that anymore, since Gaku is approaching.

She looks up and turns a little pink, but hesitantly places her hand in his. ]

I've never done this before. Are you sure?

[ He smiles, taking her hand while his other settles at her waist. ]

[ Ellis was on his way to Gaku's house until he sees Gaku outside with a basket of flowers and then says that. What. What the heck. I hope Gaku gets a wave of embarrassment as he waits for Ellis to finish writing on his notepad. ]

[ Yeah, the embarrassment just mounts and mounts until his face turns red as he waits for Ellis to finish writing. ]

[ If he had a nickel for every time a cat showed up on his farm, he'd have two. It's not strange in and of itself, but it is strange that it's happened twice in less than a month.

This particular kitty is quite the contrast to Haru, with her soft gray fur and lively green eyes, as this cat has bright orange fur and very, very dead eyes. It's a little unsettling, but Gaku just assumes that some cats happen to look like that.

Figuring he may as well make sure this cat has food to eat, he crouches down and snaps at the cat. ]

[ STOP IT, GAKU. But wait, this is someone he knows? However minuscule, there's a chance that Gaku might recognize him long enough to help him make sense of this predicament. His single brain cell (used exclusively for fighting) isn't doing him any favors right now.

Anyways, he's going to take a calculated risk and gently deposit his Vision in Gaku's hand, the same one Childe always has strapped to his hip.

Meow, meow. Look deeply into his soulless eyes and discover the truth. Barring that, please feed him something to eat. He's famished. ]

[ She's a latecomer, so she didn't really have the chance to dance with these strangers. However, what she does have the chance for, is hearing a certain rumor about Gaku among the NPCs. ]

Are you Gaku Yaotome? I need to do a quick bingo square or whatever the fuck this is and then we need to have a talk about public decency.

[ Public decency??? But he hasn't done anything!!

Whatever, he'll help out this stranger. ]

[Owen raises an eyebrow, the earrings he's wearing clicking as he tilts his head.]

Oh? Is dancing another thing you were trained in, Mr. Idol?

[He places a hand in Gaku's anyways. His hands are delicate and pale, much like the rest of him, but what might be more curious is how even with the pleasant spring weather and the suit Owen wears, his hands are ice cold. He's definitely expecting Gaku to make some sort of comment on it, because he seems the sort to not think before expressing himself...

Though he's just kind of weird, so who knows.]

[ Ah... his hand is cold, just like He Xuan's. Had he not met someone like this already, he might have reacted more visibly than just the raise of his eyebrows. Owen certainly isn't human. ]

[ Owen is going to be led this time, as Gaku places a hand on his waist. ]

[van Zieks was just!!! Going for a walk on the beach!!! Making sure people see him outside during the day so no one can accuse him of being a vampire. And then this is shouted at him.]

[ Gaku summons Lucia to his place on the 29th. She assumes it's probably to discuss his decision, and despite truly being okay with whatever she decides, the anticipation is what's killing her. Not knowing what'll happen is scary, and she's a little nervous and antsy when she knocks on his front door. Hopefully tonight goes well... ]

[ After that weekend getaway, perhaps there's supposed to be peace. However, there might be an incoming storm brewing when Ellis sees Gaku on the farm in the morning and then hurriedly runs back to his own home. After some time, probably in the afternoon, he returns with a small bouquet of flowers and knocks on the door. ]

[ I don't know what day it is. Time is fake. Anyway, Ellis finally drops by Gaku's home. He brought more homemade potato chips with the potatoes He Xuan gave him and an apple smoothie for Gaku. Half the chips are for He Xuan, so Gaku can store them wherever. The apple smoothie is smooth with a nice texture—creamy, but not too thick. There's a hint of bananas too with no chunk of fruit whatsoever. There was a lot of effort that went into it.

Anyway, these are housewarming gifts. Ellis is just chilling on the couch in the meantime, waiting for Gaku to finish. ]
