mid-month event

With Crescentview’s newest citizens settling nicely, the Goddess has summoned everyone back to Town Square for another round of announcements. This time, her summons comes to you in the form of a hand-written note. If you happen to be out working in your field, one of her fairies will hand it directly to you, looking a little more sprightly than they did the first time you saw them. Otherwise, expect to find her request/demand to meet up in Town Square in your mailbox.

introducing: the memo board

The Memo Board is now available in Town Square. You may post messages here to your fellow neighbors, send out requests for assistance on the farm, or even solicit local singles for hot dates! Post whatever you like whenever you like. You can even post messages to the board anonymously if you so desire. The Memo Board is available here.

But wait, there’s more! The Goddess has given everyone a fun relationship-building exercise. How well do you know your neighbors? Can you identify them based on their writing alone?

By December 22nd - 12:00pm EST, please have your character submit an anonymous message to be posted to the Memo Board. Their message can be about anything they’d like and there is no length requirement or restrictions. After submissions have been received, characters will be given an opportunity to review everyone’s messages and guess which character wrote which memo. Answers will be revealed on December 29th - 12:00pm EST. A single correct guess will earn you a horse while each additional correct guess will net you a vegetable, flower, or mushroom spore seed bag of your choice. Good luck and have fun!

it's time to dance!

Every Spring 15th, the annual Flower Dance is held in Town Square. Villagers gather to dance with one another and celebrate the upcoming harvest and offer their prayers to the Goddess. Folks are encouraged to dance not just with those they fancy, but their fellow neighbors as a way to express gratitude and appreciation for the friendship and company they provide.

ICly, the dance takes place on Spring 15th and goes from 9am to 9pm.

In addition to the tasks currently available on the Task Board, a handful of new additions have been added. You may continue to work on tasks from the previous event in addition to these new tasks, but please note that tasks may only be completed within the month they are assigned. Summer starts next month, so please have all of your tasks completed and submitted by then!

The new additions are as follows:

1. Post a notice on the Memo Board. Stick up an anonymous memo and earn a single chicken or rabbit to add to your coop. You may post as many notices as you like, but you will only redeem the reward once.

2. Correctly guess who posted a memo. Discuss these anonymous notes with one another and guess who may be the author. Between December 22nd and December 29th, submit your IC votes (link coming on the 22nd) and if you guess correctly, even just once, you will get a horse! You may guess as many times as you like, but you may only redeem this reward once.

3. Partake in the Flower Dance. Pick a partner for a round of dancing, pray to the Goddess, or just celebrate the good times! For every person that you celebrate the event with, you will receive a random bag of seeds of fruits, vegetables, flowers, or mushroom spores. This task can be completed 5 times.

4. Send a letter to your neighbor. This requires you to have acquired the stationary set from the first event, so if you haven't claimed it yet, get to it! You can post letters directly on the main community or set up an inbox in your journal to send and receive hand-written letters. For each letter that you send, you will get a random gacha item. This task can be completed 3 times.

5. Harvest your crops. On the 14th, you'd be surprised to find that all of your crops are now ready for picking - even if you've only planted them the day before. The crops look bright, flavourful, and ready to be picked, so eat them, trade them, sell them, whatever! For every interaction that you have involving the bountiful harvest, you will receive a new set of clothes. This task can be completed 3 times.

[ After that weekend getaway, perhaps there's supposed to be peace. However, there might be an incoming storm brewing when Ellis sees Gaku on the farm in the morning and then hurriedly runs back to his own home. After some time, probably in the afternoon, he returns with a small bouquet of flowers and knocks on the door. ]

[associative]

[ When Gaku opens the door to Ellis holding a bouquet, he looks... bewildered. Sure, their little weekend get away went well, but he didn't think it went this well. ]

Hey. What's up?

[framestory]

[ The bouquet is made up of spring flowers that everyone has been growing lately. It's actually courtesy of Diluc, but Ellis might as well use it for this opportunity. Anyway, he holds it out to Gaku. Ellis doesn't look like he knows what he's doing.

He's also not looking at Gaku's face. ]

[associative]

[ Ellis isn't looking at his face, but Gaku looks... confused.

He takes the bouquet regardless, motioning for Ellis to follow him inside. ]

[framestory]

[ When he peeks, he sees the motion and walks inside the house. He grins into being let inside and looks around. Are the plastic babies still around? The painting? What about Haru!! Ellis feels like he wants to see everything! ]

[associative]

[ The painting is noticeably gone, there are fewer plastic babies, but Haru jumps down from a bookshelf and walks over to Ellis, winding between his legs.

Gaku, meanwhile, goes into the kitchen to grab a makeshift vase. ]

[framestory]

[ Ellis sits on the floor to play with Haru, gently patting the head. Does Haru like buttpats where cats just raise their butts into the sky from how much they like it? Ellis will attempt that. ]

[associative]

[ She sure does! After Ellis does that, she bumps up against his hand, purring.

Gaku comes back into the living room, setting the bouquet, now in a vase, in the middle of the coffee table. ]

She likes you.

[framestory]

[ Ellis looks up at Gaku and grins. He's happy! Happy.

...

???

Perhaps Gaku can tell something is off immediately, but Ellis is not giving his usual fake vibes. It seems like he's very happy! About... petting a cat's butt? Coming to Gaku's home? It seems weird for someone who has a hard time caring about literally anything. ]

[associative]

[ It's nice to see a smile that he can tell isn't fake, but...

Hm. ]

What's got you in a good mood?

[framestory]

[ Let Ellis try to logically explain this-- ]

"I don't know! Maybe it's because I realized how much I love you?"

[ What? He realized it? When?

...

Ellis loves him? ]

[associative]

[ The surprise quickly wears off and gives way to something else, akin to a sinking in his stomach. For Ellis to go from feeling nothing at all for Gaku to actually loving him in less than a week feels, quite frankly, impossible.

And even if Ellis did, would he ever say it like that? ]

I think this is just the goddess messing with you again.

[framestory]

[ Ellis looks a little appalled at that. In the depths of his mind, he should know. This isn't the first time. However.

He feels a little offended... like he cares? He's not sure of what his emotions have become right now. ]

"Are my feelings not real too?"

[associative]

[ He crouches down in front of Ellis. ]

I think right now, they're real. But you won't feel the same tomorrow, or even in an hour. Don't say things you'll think back on and regret, Ellis.

[framestory]

"But I won't regret it."

[ Yeah, No. He'll regret it. He feels like he's high on happy copium or something. ]

[associative]

Oh, you will. You'll wake up wishing you were somewhere else.

[ He laughs. ]

So don't do a whole lot you'll end up regretting.

[framestory]

[ Ellis pouts a little, feeling disregarded, but it's okay. He loves Gaku anyway, so he gets up from the floor to give him a big hug. ]

[associative]

...

[ You know... a hug is fine. This much Gaku is willing to do when Ellis is like this, so he wraps his arm around him in turn. ]

[framestory]

[ He gives Gaku a squeeze in the hug and sways him a little side to side (very little movements). There's clearly happiness in those actions even if Ellis doesn't really understand it to the core. ]

[associative]

[ What the hell, he'll give Ellis a squeeze in return. There, have your tight hug. ]

[framestory]

[ Ellis laughs in glee and looks up at Gaku with a grin on his face, then nuzzling into his neck.

There might as well be hearts floating out of this guy right now. ]

[ God. This is so weird that he can't even enjoy it a little bit.

Gaku heaves out a sigh. ]

[framestory]

[ Ellis looks confused. Why does Gaku not look like he's enjoying this? He tilts his head at him. What is wrong, dearest? ]

[associative]

This isn't like you. [ ... ] It isn't you at all.

[ He gently extracts himself from Ellis' hold. ]
