mid-month event

With Crescentview’s newest citizens settling nicely, the Goddess has summoned everyone back to Town Square for another round of announcements. This time, her summons comes to you in the form of a hand-written note. If you happen to be out working in your field, one of her fairies will hand it directly to you, looking a little more sprightly than they did the first time you saw them. Otherwise, expect to find her request/demand to meet up in Town Square in your mailbox.

introducing: the memo board

The Memo Board is now available in Town Square. You may post messages here to your fellow neighbors, send out requests for assistance on the farm, or even solicit local singles for hot dates! Post whatever you like whenever you like. You can even post messages to the board anonymously if you so desire. The Memo Board is available here.

But wait, there’s more! The Goddess has given everyone a fun relationship-building exercise. How well do you know your neighbors? Can you identify them based on their writing alone?

By December 22nd - 12:00pm EST, please have your character submit an anonymous message to be posted to the Memo Board. Their message can be about anything they’d like and there is no length requirement or restrictions. After submissions have been received, characters will be given an opportunity to review everyone’s messages and guess which character wrote which memo. Answers will be revealed on December 29th - 12:00pm EST. A single correct guess will earn you a horse while each additional correct guess will net you a vegetable, flower, or mushroom spore seed bag of your choice. Good luck and have fun!

it's time to dance!

Every Spring 15th, the annual Flower Dance is held in Town Square. Villagers gather to dance with one another and celebrate the upcoming harvest and offer their prayers to the Goddess. Folks are encouraged to dance not just with those they fancy, but their fellow neighbors as a way to express gratitude and appreciation for the friendship and company they provide.

ICly, the dance takes place on Spring 15th and goes from 9am to 9pm.

In addition to the tasks currently available on the Task Board, a handful of new additions have been added. You may continue to work on tasks from the previous event in addition to these new tasks, but please note that tasks may only be completed within the month they are assigned. Summer starts next month, so please have all of your tasks completed and submitted by then!

The new additions are as follows:

1. Post a notice on the Memo Board. Stick up an anonymous memo and earn a single chicken or rabbit to add to your coop. You may post as many notices as you like, but you will only redeem the reward once.

2. Correctly guess who posted a memo. Discuss these anonymous notes with one another and guess who may be the author. Between December 22nd and December 29th, submit your IC votes (link coming on the 22nd) and if you guess correctly, even just once, you will get a horse! You may guess as many times as you like, but you may only redeem this reward once.

3. Partake in the Flower Dance. Pick a partner for a round of dancing, pray to the Goddess, or just celebrate the good times! For every person that you celebrate the event with, you will receive a random bag of seeds of fruits, vegetables, flowers, or mushroom spores. This task can be completed 5 times.

4. Send a letter to your neighbor. This requires you to have acquired the stationary set from the first event, so if you haven't claimed it yet, get to it! You can post letters directly on the main community or set up an inbox in your journal to send and receive hand-written letters. For each letter that you send, you will get a random gacha item. This task can be completed 3 times.

5. Harvest your crops. On the 14th, you'd be surprised to find that all of your crops are now ready for picking - even if you've only planted them the day before. The crops look bright, flavourful, and ready to be picked, so eat them, trade them, sell them, whatever! For every interaction that you have involving the bountiful harvest, you will receive a new set of clothes. This task can be completed 3 times.

[ For someone as busy with work as Cyno, having so much free time is actually exhausting. He's been exploring the island to get familiar with the area and he finds himself on the town square once again. Usually, it's not as busy, so as soon as he hears that there will be a festival held here, he lets out a sigh. Unfortunately, a social gathering might be a good spot to watch people and ask them some questions, so even though he's not too happy about it, he'll stay.

He might not be giving off the aura of the most friendly person, considering that he's leaning against a wall with his arms crossed on his chest, his eyes scanning the crowds thoroughly. If someone decides to approach him, Cyno will murmur one of these questions:

a. What kind of tea is hard to swallow?
b. Why do fish live in saltwater?
c. What do you call a fake noodle?
d. What did one ocean say to the other ocean? ]

( Two )

[ After reviewing the pamphlet, Cyno makes an earnest effort to match the person standing nearby with the Goddess' drawing. It's easier said than done, so after a while, he gives up and rather than just watch, walks up to said person himself. At least this time around, he doesn't make a questionable decision to start the interaction with a terrible joke. ]

I'm looking for people interested in completing the tasks in the pamphlet. [ Bingo? No, it's a to-do list now. ] In particular 20 questions, getting ice cream, wine and dine, handholding... [ His cheeks are much warmer now. ] ... and homemade meal. I assume that you might need some assistance as well and I'm efficient, so I'll gladly cooperate.

[ Unless it's a smut one probably, but at least his reaction will be hilarious. ]

[ Mona will be recognizable from her hat alone (which was absolutely in the Goddess' depiction of her, it had to have been), and when Cyno approaches, she listens him list his tasks. Straight to the point, no idle chit chat? Interesting. ]

Well, since we're getting straight to the point, I also happen to have ice cream, wine tasting, and...handholding.

[ Which, yeah, she's not thrilled to admit either. ]

Do tell me which of these you'd be most interested in, and I'll oblige.

All of them.

[ All squares got assigned a critical priority, it seems. Adjusting his work style as General Mahamatra to these squares might sound ridiculous, but he's very serious. Not to mention that it helps him to deal with sudden lack of duties. ]

Handholding is the least time consuming one. [ While Cyno might be maintaining his neutral tone, his cheeks are flushed. ] I'd suggest starting with that, then we can move on to ice cream and wine tasting.

[ She really wasn't expecting him to pick handholding as their first one. She's only just met him, how bold is this man?? Archons. Then again, she's Mona Megistus, never one to back down from a challenge if she can do it. There is really no excuse to why she can't do something as trivial as this.

She clears her throat and tries to ignore the heat that rises to her cheeks. ]

Ahem... Fine, then, since you asked so succinctly.

[ She'll go ahead and offer out her hand. Go on, Cyno. ]

[ For a second, he thought that Mona might back down, but thankfully that doesn't happen. Taking a deep breath is clearly a part of preparing oneself to hold someone's hand, so Cyno does just that before taking her hand in his own, squeezing it gently. ]

Thank you, this will be a huge help. Unfortunately, there is no information on how long we should be doing it, so I suggest we look for ice cream in the meantime.

[ While holding hands, of course. ]

[ She can't say she's ever held hands with anyone -- not like this, anyway -- so she's a little nervous despite trying to maintain her dignity.

As a note, it appears that the goddess would prefer us to clear our bingo squares on separate occasions. I wouldn't mind getting ice cream, but we'll have to put aside some time for that in the future for it to count towards our square.

[ She frowns a little. ]

An arbitrary requirement if you ask me, but it's just how things seem to work around here.

[ Cyno frowns because that kind of limitation puts an end to his speedrun. The Goddess is always one step ahead!! ]

That's a shame, really. May I see your card for a moment?

[ Time to schedule some square punching while he's still holding Mona's hand. ]

It is. Again, I'd be happy to make arrangements for the future, but for now, this is what we'll be clearing.

[ Prudent guy, huh. Pragmatism must be something he values greatly. Wandering over, Childe folds his arms, recalling the contest on his own card from memory. ]

Let's see... does 20 questions or ice cream sound better to you? Although, I guess the real question is... how peckish are you feeling?

[ Eating with a stranger isn't anything more involved than the third degree, so he'll leave it up to his companion's discretion. ]

Childe! Tartaglia is also another name I go by. Call me by whichever one suits you better.

[ He's got many handles, it's no big deal. Time to see if you can knock out two bingo squares at once. Gesturing over towards the ice cream kiosk so his newfound buddy can give the menu a look-see, Childe returns the question like volleying fire. ]

You go by two names? [ His General Mahamatra senses are tingling. This is sus, but Cyno reminds himself just in time that they're not in Sumeru nor even Teyvat anymore. At that moment, he notices the Vision attached to the man's belt. ] That's... interesting, Childe Tartaglia.

[ Using both names to see how Childe reacts to it? Maybe. Anyway, the ice cream is a whole new experience for someone who spends most of his time in a desert or a tropical forest, so he scans the menu thoroughly with his eyes. ]

[ It's also a mouthful when spoken in conjunction with his other title? This may be why he doesn't have a canonical last name. Childe orders the most eclectic flavor on the menu before continuing to ramble on. ]

They're both for show. Aliases, if you will. [ Wow. ] I thought it'd be easier to give people the opportunity to choose. Now... will you tell me your occupation?

When you call them aliases, it suggests that there is a third name. Or maybe even more names.

[ Definitely suspicious... not that he plans to do anything about it. For all he knows, Childe might be just messing with him for fun. ]

Since you're not too attached to either of these names, I'll use them interchangeably, I think.

[ The question about his occupation makes him tense up a bit, though. ]

General Mahamatra of Sumeru Akademiya. [ And, almost right away, Cyno asks his own question: ] Where are you from?

[ Right, the Akademiya was where the third Harbinger hailed from originally, according to Fatui intel dated prior to his exile. It's likely that Dottore has already had a run-in with the God of Wisdom by now. At the time, he'd been on one of the ships bound for Zapolyarny Palace when he was whisked away here. As for how of the rest of that went, that's yet to be seen. If nothing else, Tartaglia understands full well that there's no point to chasing down the Balladeer any longer. No place for traitors within the Fatui.

Wonder if this guy knows anything about that? His title carries so much overwhelming gravitas. ]

Snezhnaya. [ Although, that's a bit too vague. Allow him to elaborate. ] Specifically, I grew up in Morepesok, a fishing village by the sea.

[ Folding his arms to regard Cyno: ]

Sumeru's god devotes herself towards attaining wisdom, right? [ Not that he can comprehend such a pursuit. ] Seeing as how you're a part of the Akademiya, how do you feel about the Dendro Archon?

[ Essentially, he's asking about Lesser Lord Kusanali, and her alone. Why would this question ever possibly concern anyone else? ]

Oh, I have homemade meal as well! There's just one problem with that particular task... I'm afraid I don't know how to cook at all. You wouldn't happen to be experienced with that, would you?
