summer has arrived

As the last of the sakura blossoms fall away and the leaves on the trees grow into ever more vibrant greens, the familiar buzz of cicadas begins to echo all throughout the isle. Summer is quickly approaching and bringing brighter days and blazing temperatures along with it.

Summer also signals the start of the wine production season. Grapes growing on trellises are a common sight on Crescentview during the summer and a notice on the town memo board from the local barkeep encourages farmers to consider growing some varietal grapes of their own.

Temperatures are rising, so put on a comfortable pair of shorts and head to the Town Plaza to see what’s cooking! While you’re at it, take a look at the calendar for Summer 1st through 15th.

This season’s crops are corn, onion, pumpkin, watermelon, and pineapple. Summer’s seasonal flowers are poppy, rose, sunflower, lily, and hydrangea. As for mushrooms, shimeji, trumpet, and common brown spores are available for the summer.

hot! ...or not

Posted prominently at the top of the Memo Board is a cartoonishly-written advertisement for the first annual Hot or Not hosted by the Goddess herself. Contestants will take to the stage while the audience votes on whether they are as hot as the blazing sun or cooler than a dead fish. Leave your egos at the door! ICly, this event takes place on Summer 8th.

task board

The task board is located in Town Square and changes from season to season. In real time, a season is one month long. The following tasks are available from January 1st to February 1st and more tasks may be added mid-month.

Certain rewards are only available through event participation, so please keep this in mind when planning your threads. Multiple tasks may be completed within a single thread, but when turning in, please link to the individual tags in which each task was completed.

Finally, rewards are per character, not per farm, so those with housemates may want to coordinate with one another with regard to what animals you’re bringing home to your farm.

This month’s tasks are centered around getting to know your fellow neighbors on a deeper level. As such, the Goddess has put together a small human scavenger hunt to encourage people to learn more about the people they are living with — and hopefully falling in love with.

Find someone who...

1. Was born in the summer
2. Pours milk into their bowl before the cereal
3. Plays a musical instrument
4. Has more than 3 siblings
5. Works out 5 times a week or more
6. Doesn’t like animals
7. Would like to date the Harvest Goddess
8. Has traveled around the world
9. Speaks two or more languages
10. Is wearing socks that aren’t black or white

Each submission will earn you two random bags of summer seeds. Specify whether you want crop, flower, or mushroom spores in your submission. This task can be completed a total of 10 times.

Many ingredients used in wine production grow in the summer, but so do a variety of tea plants and grains. Grapes, tea shrubs and grains like wheat and barley can all be grown on your farm or in your greenhouse, if you have one.

Complete the following tasks to earn yourself some nice beverage-producing crops for the farm:

1. Take something from last month’s harvest and gift it to a neighbor. You can give it to them directly, cook it into a meal, etc. Alternatively, craft them a bouquet, flower crown, or another gift from the flowers you grew last season. Complete 3 times for a total of 6 grape starters.

2. Share a piece of hot gossip with a neighbor or exchange secrets with them. It doesn’t have to be your secret! Complete 3 times for a total of 6 tea starters.

3. Exercise with someone. Go on a run, swim in the ocean, help them stretch out! Complete 3 times for a total of 6 grain crops. You may choose from wheat, barley, rye, or rice.

Summer is the perfect time to hang out on the beach and splash around in the ocean. Participate in some summer fun at the beach and earn more animals for your barn and coop.

1. Swim in the ocean, build a sandcastle, or bury someone in the sand. Do any of the following for one of the following animals: cow, sheep, alpaca, or goat. This task can be completed once.

2. Participate in Hot or Not. It’s an annual tradition! Submit yourself or comment on someone else for a single chicken or rabbit. This task can be completed once.

local happenings

The Crescentview Times newspaper has chronicled the latest happenings around the island. A physical copy of the paper will arrive on your doorstep early in the morning on Summer 1st.

Recently, a group of townspeople have taken it upon themselves to check out the abandoned mine. They’ve made good headway on opening up the path in the hopes that would-be explorers will be able to take to the mines and find some of Crescentview’s fabled gems and minerals buried in its depths. They expect to be done by Summer 15th.

A strange “gurgling whisper” has been reported by some concerned townsfolk living in the mountains. The concerning sounds are coming from one of the lakes at the foot of the mountain. Supposedly, the voice is asking for offerings of... something. The townsfolk have yet to identify what exactly is being asked for.

A hurricane has been brewing off the southern coast of Crescentview. Meteorologists have yet to determine whether the hurricane will make landfall or not, so stay tuned for more updates.

[ Noé might not be very well-versed in the art of making sandcastles, but he's definitely enthusiastic. Their lumps of sand at least look more decorative than before when he notices that Lucia is a little out of it. ]

Are you okay?

[ Is it just him or is Lucia getting really sleepy? They've been working on the sandcastle for a while, so maybe she's just tired. ]

[irresponsibly]

Ah... I think so.

[ She's glad for his help, but a wave of sudden drowsiness has hit her, and she closes her eyes. Lucia leans on him and plops her head onto his shoulder. ]

Just...so much sun...

Ah, are you weak to sun?

[ This question hits differently when it’s asked by a vampire. When she leans against him, however, Noé tries to stay still. ]

Maybe I could bring you some water or a snack?

[ Sadly, it involves moving… ]

[irresponsibly]

No, it's okay...

[ She slumps over a little more, shifting more of her weight towards him. She's clearly very, very sleepy all of a sudden. ]

Just...stay here, please.

A-Alright.

[ It's cute that she can asleep just like that when he's around, but on the other hand... it's a little suspicious. Especially when he can still remember clearly that he fell asleep in the middle of the town square once. ]

Just rest, Lucia. I'll be here.

[irresponsibly]

[ Moments pass while she's all dozed off, and she's very relaxed, given how her weight is just...shifted towards Noé. She sleeps for about ten minutes before she blinks awake again, and just like that, it seems like all the drowsiness has disappeared. ]

...Oh... I fell asleep?

You did, but it's okay. It was a short nap, to be honest.

[ Ten minutes is nothing compared to his nap. ]

Are you feeling better? Maybe I should grab you some water anyway?

[ The drowsiness might have been caused by the sun and heat, so!! She needs to stay hydrated!! ]

[irresponsibly]

Ah, no, I'm okay.

[ But she should take better care of herself, tbh??? ]

Hm... I think it might've been because...because you're comfortable.

[ Admitting that makes her blush, but it's true. He's very warm. ]

[ That statement bring a smile to his face. It's quite amazing how Lucia can make him feel so happy just with a few words. ]

I've been told that sleeping with me in one bed is a nightmare, to be honest. If you want to rest some more, you can rest in my lap.

[ She's red as a tomato, now. Something about that feels very intimate. Not that she's complaining, but... ]

L-lap? Are you sure?

Yes! That would be more comfortable than my shoulder, don't you think?

[ And the heat is terrible. ]

Y...yes, you're right. Um...

[ She kind of awkwardly sits there for a moment, before she moves to lay down and rest the back of her head on his lap.

She looks up at him, cheeks beet red. ]

Yes, but...

[ Noé gently brushes away the locks of hair that cover her forehead and rests his hand on top of it for a while. ]

You're warm, but it's not a fever, I think...

O-oh, no, it's...it's not.

[ She can't help but lean into his touch, and after a few moments, she reaches for his hand. ]

Don't worry about me. I'm doing well.

Let's finish up the sandcastle when the temperature goes down.

[ Noé's hand gently caresses hes hair, hoping that this will help her relax. ]

I'll watch over you, so you can sleep.

[irresponsibly]

Thank you.

[ Her eyes feel heavy again, and Noé's touch doesn't help, either. But she isn't complaining. She's very relaxed. ]

I'll sleep well, thanks to you. Wake me up if you need me, okay?

Okay.

[ He's going to continue to stroke her hair, even after she dozes off. When it looks like she's asleep, he murmurs with a gentle smile. ]

It feels like I need you all the time lately.

[irresponsibly]

[ She normally doesn't feel this comfortable around people, but he's very warm and inviting. She sleeps so easily on his lap, though it's not long until she wakes up again. She blinks blearily and looks up at him – a sleepy smile immediately pops up on her face. ]

I didn't keep you waiting for too long, did I?

[ The heat isn't so bad anymore, at least!! ]

Besides, you can keep me waiting as long as you want.

[ Whatever... that means :) ]

Ah, no! I wouldn't want to do that to you.

[ Ominous...but she doesn't seem to think so. ]

Even if...I would wait for you, too.

Sometimes it feels like... I'm making you wait.

[ He's sure taking his sweet time figuring out his own feelings, huh. But it shouldn't take too long now...!! ]

I can't explain it, really. It's just a hunch... but I think I know what I need to do.

[irresponsibly]

[ She doesn't quite follow what he's saying, but she simply blinks before giving him a little nod. ]

I look forward to seeing what you have for me, then! I...I don't know what you're making me wait on, but I'm sure it'll be worthwhile.

[ Noé offers her a sheepish smile in response. ]

Sorry, I must have babbled too much. [ It might be the first time he's apologizing for that, honestly. ] Do you want to finish up the sandcastle or do you want to go back home?

[irresponsibly]

Oh, you can babble as much as you'd like.

[ She likes hearing his thoughts. She wants to hear them all... ]

Um...why don't we go home? The sun's getting to be a lot, I think. We can go back to my place?

You really shouldn't have allowed me to do that.

[ Noé lets out a brief chuckle. Most of the time, he simply tells what's on his mind and it's no different with Lucia. Talking to her feels different than having a conversation with other people, though. Even if he can't really tell the reason just yet.

He's already getting up on his feet and offers Lucia a hand. ]

Going back home sounds good.

[ For some reason, he didn't call it her place. Home just feels right, even if it's not exactly true. ]
