The unrelenting summer heat has begun to let up as of late and those who make a habit of reading the news will know why: a hurricane is set to make landfall on Summer 16th. Spread the word to your neighbors and keep your loved ones and animals indoors. Expect that there may be some damage to your property, field and trees!

Fortunately, the hurricane brings with it only moderate wind and rain. Once the storm subsides and the whipping winds calm, you’ll be handed a letter by one of the Goddess’ many sprightly fairies who look quite a bit healthier and happier than they used to. Some of them look like they’ve been hitting the gym while others have a nice set of shiny new acrylic nails on their fingertips. Good for them.

Anyway, the letter details an upcoming event hosted by the Goddess: the first annual date auction. She has considerately included a form with her letter inviting islanders to volunteer as dates to be auctioned away while others have been voluntold. Oof. With the promise of a fabulous and extravagant vacation for those participating, the reward may very well be worth the price of entry.

With more news to announce, she requests that everyone meet up in the Town Plaza. The task board hasn’t seen any mid-season additions, but the upcoming date auction and the recently opened mines promise to keep islanders well occupied through the rest of the season.

This season’s crops are corn, onion, pumpkin, watermelon, and pineapple. Summer’s seasonal flowers are poppy, rose, sunflower, lily, and hydrangea. As for mushrooms, shimeji, trumpet, and common brown spores are available for the summer.

It’s time to d-d-d-date auction! Participation is highly encouraged by both the Goddess and her pushy little helpers. Every islander received a form delivered to them by said pushy fairies that contains the following application:

Describe yourself in three sentences or less:
List three of your best and worst qualities:
If you were a fruit, which fruit would you be and why?
Describe your ideal romantic partner:
Why should the auction attendees bid on you?

...You may have noticed that the form does not include a section for your name. That’s because this is a blind auction in which bidders must place their bids based only on the information provided in their application. Love is blind, as they say!

While some people may eagerly volunteer themselves to be auctioned away, those who are less bold may have been signed up to participate by a friend, neighbor, or the Goddess herself. In so many words, if you’d like to sign your character up but don’t believe they’d willingly volunteer to be auctioned, worry not! You may use the Goddess (or another character) as your convenient excuse so sign them up anyway.

Submit your applications here by the 20th at 12pm EST. The date auction will go live on the 21st at 12pm EST.

As mentioned in the overview, all auctioned off parties and their winning bidders will win an all expenses paid trip... somewhere. The Goddess’ lips are sealed as to the destination, but you get the feeling this trip will be quite a bit more than you bargained for.

The task board is located in Town Square and changes from season to season. In real time, a season is one month long. The following tasks are available from January 1st to February 1st and more tasks may be added mid-month.

Certain rewards are only available through event participation, so please keep this in mind when planning your threads. Multiple tasks may be completed within a single thread, but when turning in, please link to the individual tags in which each task was completed.

Finally, rewards are per character, not per farm, so those with housemates may want to coordinate with one another with regard to what animals you’re bringing home to your farm.

This month’s tasks are centered around getting to know your fellow neighbors on a deeper level. As such, the Goddess has put together a small human scavenger hunt to encourage people to learn more about the people they are living with — and hopefully falling in love with.

Find someone who...

1. Was born in the summer
2. Pours milk into their bowl before the cereal
3. Plays a musical instrument
4. Has more than 3 siblings
5. Works out 5 times a week or more
6. Doesn’t like animals
7. Would like to date the Harvest Goddess
8. Has traveled around the world
9. Speaks two or more languages
10. Is wearing socks that aren’t black or white

Each submission will earn you two random bags of summer seeds. Specify whether you want crop, flower, or mushroom spores in your submission. This task can be completed a total of 10 times.

Many ingredients used in wine production grow in the summer, but so do a variety of tea plants and grains. Grapes, tea shrubs and grains like wheat and barley can all be grown on your farm or in your greenhouse, if you have one.

Complete the following tasks to earn yourself some nice beverage-producing crops for the farm:

1. Take something from last month’s harvest and gift it to a neighbor. You can give it to them directly, cook it into a meal, etc. Alternatively, craft them a bouquet, flower crown, or another gift from the flowers you grew last season. Complete 3 times for a total of 6 grape starters.

2. Share a piece of hot gossip with a neighbor or exchange secrets with them. It doesn’t have to be your secret! Complete 3 times for a total of 6 tea starters.

3. Exercise with someone. Go on a run, swim in the ocean, help them stretch out! Complete 3 times for a total of 6 grain crops. You may choose from wheat, barley, rye, or rice.

Summer is the perfect time to hang out on the beach and splash around in the ocean. Participate in some summer fun at the beach and earn more animals for your barn and coop.

1. Swim in the ocean, build a sandcastle, or bury someone in the sand. Do any of the following for one of the following animals: cow, sheep, alpaca, or goat. This task can be completed once.

2. Participate in Hot or Not. It’s an annual tradition! Submit yourself or comment on someone else for a single chicken or rabbit. This task can be completed once.

to the mines!

The once abandoned mines have been reopened and are now accessible to any brave islanders who wish to explore their depths! But be warned: doing so may come at a cost. Will you take the risk and come out on top with rare and otherworldly treasures, or will you trip and sprain your ankle after stumbling over a small rock? Only one way to find out!

OOCly, the mines can be explored once per week and exploration is undertaken in a cyoa-style thread. The mines are a permanent feature and can be accessed now until the end of the game. Have fun!

[ Does Flynn have the guts to say that to Judith? Not in a million years. But his audience now is just Yuri, so he can gently roast him if he wants to.

He's already prepared to get them moving to the shop when Yuri asks that and he freezes like the proverbial deer in the headlights. Oh, Yuri is going to be insufferable about this. ]

What for? You'll have forgotten it by tomorrow.

[ No, wait. Yuri is only going to be insufferable if he senses the moment of weakness. As indifferently as can be, Flynn offers his card on over. Surely Yuri's many, many years of Flynn experience won't let him see through this flawless bluff. ]

[ Unbelievable, Flynn. How dare you roast him like this? ]

Wow, like I haven't heard that one before.

[ Yuri says in absurd, and absolutely fake offence. Keep it up Flynn he will tell Judith the roastings you sent along the way in this conversation.

Also, this is exactly what Flynn gets for lowering his guard. ]

...Huh. Looks like we've some things in common. Though, a guy has to wonder if a pure knight like you would get up to doing some of this stuff at all while we're here.

[ Well, refrain from commentary on certain squares lasted very long. ]

[ He knew it! He knew Yuri couldn't resist! At least it's that and not "wow Flynn, the goddess really read you for filth on kinks you got to discover by seeing your cursed bingo card." ]

It's not as though we have to do everything on here!

[ He still has 5 out of 12 bingo options that don't require smut. Yes, he counted. ]

And I'm perfectly capable of kissing someone. There aren't any rules against it for the knighthood, as you well know.

[ Him sounding increasingly stuffy about this is helping his case, isn't it? ]

[ Yuri couldn't help himself.

Though, he certainly isn't above reaching for the low-hanging fruit, as it were. Just maybe not exactly the lowest one hanging around. ]

[ Yuri paying the price by suffering in Twister...sounds about right. ]

Well, if you say so. It's not like you'd have much trouble in finding anyone to kiss you.

[ Anyways, he decides they've been standing around long enough, so he begins to veer towards the direction of the shop. ]

Let's go get whatever this 'twister' is.

[ He wonders what it means when Yuri says it, though. Somehow, he feels it can't be a good thing.

But off they go! They have a bingo square to complete. The shop isn't that big and the games selection hardly comprehensive. This is one easy quest to complete. ]

[ For Flynn's sanity, luckily he doesn't say anything else other than that.

Anyway, he fetches the twister game and asks the person selling stuff how it's played, and then bang, they're done, outside the store. As well as with the addition of a new game. ]

So, are we doing this at my house or yours?

[ Serious question. ]

[ Yuri you can't just do things so slapdash! Flynn is reading the instruction manual dutifully as they walk. ]

I'm on the beach, so mine should be closer. How about there?

[ Not that he minds hiking all the way to Yuri's mountain hermitage near Judith, but still. ]

[ That's how Yuri rolls!! Good thing Flynn's peering through the manual properly, though. For some things with him it's out one ear and through the other. ]

The beach will work. I could always make you go all the way to my place, but I'm sure we'll have enough time for hiking later.

[ At least Yuri has an idea of where the beach is, but he will more or less follow Flynn's lead at some point because there are multiple houses and he doesn't know which one is his. ]

[ Ah yes, Flynn here for the rules minutiae of Twister. Where would they be without him? He looks up when they're close to nod to his humble abode. ]

This is the one. I wonder if Vicious is in right now.

[ The man seems a bit like a stray cat--like Yuri's long-lost cousin, to be honest. But he can just join them at Twister if so. Flynn shoulders the door open to let Yuri into his decrepit but painstakingly cleaned home. ]

So, you've got somebody living with you?

[ Yuri is only mildly surprised, because he was fortunate to be given one by his lonesome, after all. Anyways, once he's entered into the home, he resists the urge to be shocked, remembering how well (not, lol) his own home looked when he had ample opportunity to gaze upon it.

At least Flynn takes care to keep things as clean as possible. ]

Would you look at that? It already feels like home.

Yes, a roommate. He's... [ Hm, his brief first impression. How to put it... ] I think he'd fit right in in a guild. You'll probably like him.

[ Positive? Negative? Flynn gives a little laugh for that scrutiny and leads the way inside to start moving the dining table and chairs out of the way for this. ]

You know, it reminds me a little of the lower quarter. It looked a little worn down at first, but it just needed some work.

Well, if you're giving a stellar review of the guy then I'm almost sold.

[ Yuri is going to take it as a positive, of course. But, anyways... ]

Yeah, exactly what I was thinking. Soon we'll have our houses looking more presentable than this. You'll probably get to it faster than I do, though.

[ Flynn's always been the more enthusiastic about keeping things organized and presentable than him. But, he does help the blond out before eventually helping next with getting the game out, ready to play the game, mat on the floor. ]

Anyway, you ready to go?

Are we racing? I thought you were doubting my ability to do some of these squares.

[ But not this one! This one is easy. Flynn takes his place on the opposite side of the mat and flicks the spinner authoritatively. ]

I'm ready. Feet on the yellow and blue circles. [ He read all the rules. ] Now, right hand, yellow.

I was? Maybe I'm just in a hurry to beat you at the game.

[ Oooooh. You going to stand for that, Flynn? But then there's the blond taking command just like that. ]

Wow, there you go. Getting right into the game zone. I'm almost tempted not to listen.

[ Right hand goes plopping onto yellow, regardless. Clearly he's listening well enough. The type to play by the rules as always, without even bothering to flick the spinner, Yuri says: ]

I think it's my turn now. Left foot, blue.

We'll see about that soon enough.

[ Bring it, Yuri! Flynn dutiful moves his left foot onto another blue dot, but he lifts his head to frown up at Yuri as he does it. ]

That's not how the rules work. You say a color and I say the body part, and then we switch. Green.

[ He'll just demonstrate! How this is played by someone who isn't a cheating cheater! ]

We sure will.

[ Yuri doesn't even look so much as deterred in the slightest at the frown in his direction. He's used to the whole, 'Disapproving of Yuri's shenanigary' frown patented by one Flynn Scifo. ]

Now, wait a minute. You said a color and body part in the beginning. So, doesn't that mean you broke the rules too?

[ He says, as if that excuses his obvious rules-breaking. ]

But, left foot.

I was using the spinner. It's not the same thing. But if you want to throw it back and forth--

[ Oh, Yuri chose this on purpose to be mean. Flynn has to twist himself awkwardly around to get his left foot crossed behind him onto the green. Jerk. ]

You pick the color next.

[ And then Flynn's going to decide what the rudest thing he can do in return is. ]

And how isn't it the same thing?

[ Yuri certainly did. He is giving himself quite the pat on his own back here. Though, he does know that the other doing something to get back at him is inevitable. ]

I'll pick...red, of course. Speaking of which, it looks like you're doing real well over there. Let's see how long you can keep it up, though.

[ He is just asking for retribution at this point... ]

Because the spinner is impartial.

[ Flynn stares at the board. He stares at Yuri. And with deliberate, tactical calculation, he decides: ]

Left hand.

[ Take that, Yuri. Yuri has the advantage in a game of flexibility anyway, so Flynn has to play a little cheap. ]

Is it really?

[ Yuri asks, knowing how ridiculous the question is anyway. He just wants to see how long he can keep up this ridiculous argument now (why is he like this we just don't know.) ]

...Is that you trying to get back at me? Well, it's not going to work, I hope you know that.

[ He says simply and just like that, he'll be next moving his hand, over his other hand because it's probably positioned like in such a way he has to do with a little criss-crossing. ]

Oh yeah? Are you sure about that?

[ Yeah, Yuri's confident for a reason. It's fine. Flynn didn't really expect to get him that quickly... is what he'll tell himself.

He might be just a little disappointed, though. ]

You never do go easy on me. Alright, blue.

[ Yuri can't make his life that much harder with blue, can he? He's pretty sure. He profoundly hopes. ]

I'm sure.

[ A plus to being ambidexterous, perhaps. But honestly he has always been more flexible and always happy to capitalize on it; it explains some of his more ambitious maneuvers in combat, for example. One who has such equal balance is good at performing those movements. And things like the ones he is doing now, compared to others. ]

If I did go easy on you, you'd hate it. You know it's true.
