dec mid-month event.
mid-month event
With Crescentview’s newest citizens settling nicely, the Goddess has summoned everyone back to Town Square for another round of announcements. This time, her summons comes to you in the form of a hand-written note. If you happen to be out working in your field, one of her fairies will hand it directly to you, looking a little more sprightly than they did the first time you saw them. Otherwise, expect to find her request/demand to meet up in Town Square in your mailbox.
introducing: the memo board
The Memo Board is now available in Town Square. You may post messages here to your fellow neighbors, send out requests for assistance on the farm, or even solicit local singles for hot dates! Post whatever you like whenever you like. You can even post messages to the board anonymously if you so desire. The Memo Board is available here.
But wait, there’s more! The Goddess has given everyone a fun relationship-building exercise. How well do you know your neighbors? Can you identify them based on their writing alone?
By December 22nd - 12:00pm EST, please have your character submit an anonymous message to be posted to the Memo Board. Their message can be about anything they’d like and there is no length requirement or restrictions. After submissions have been received, characters will be given an opportunity to review everyone’s messages and guess which character wrote which memo. Answers will be revealed on December 29th - 12:00pm EST. A single correct guess will earn you a horse while each additional correct guess will net you a vegetable, flower, or mushroom spore seed bag of your choice. Good luck and have fun!
it's time to dance!
Every Spring 15th, the annual Flower Dance is held in Town Square. Villagers gather to dance with one another and celebrate the upcoming harvest and offer their prayers to the Goddess. Folks are encouraged to dance not just with those they fancy, but their fellow neighbors as a way to express gratitude and appreciation for the friendship and company they provide.
ICly, the dance takes place on Spring 15th and goes from 9am to 9pm.
task board
In addition to the tasks currently available on the Task Board, a handful of new additions have been added. You may continue to work on tasks from the previous event in addition to these new tasks, but please note that tasks may only be completed within the month they are assigned. Summer starts next month, so please have all of your tasks completed and submitted by then!
The new additions are as follows:
1. Post a notice on the Memo Board. Stick up an anonymous memo and earn a single chicken or rabbit to add to your coop. You may post as many notices as you like, but you will only redeem the reward once.
2. Correctly guess who posted a memo. Discuss these anonymous notes with one another and guess who may be the author. Between December 22nd and December 29th, submit your IC votes (link coming on the 22nd) and if you guess correctly, even just once, you will get a horse! You may guess as many times as you like, but you may only redeem this reward once.
3. Partake in the Flower Dance. Pick a partner for a round of dancing, pray to the Goddess, or just celebrate the good times! For every person that you celebrate the event with, you will receive a random bag of seeds of fruits, vegetables, flowers, or mushroom spores. This task can be completed 5 times.
4. Send a letter to your neighbor. This requires you to have acquired the stationary set from the first event, so if you haven't claimed it yet, get to it! You can post letters directly on the main community or set up an inbox in your journal to send and receive hand-written letters. For each letter that you send, you will get a random gacha item. This task can be completed 3 times.
5. Harvest your crops. On the 14th, you'd be surprised to find that all of your crops are now ready for picking - even if you've only planted them the day before. The crops look bright, flavourful, and ready to be picked, so eat them, trade them, sell them, whatever! For every interaction that you have involving the bountiful harvest, you will receive a new set of clothes. This task can be completed 3 times.

i. [ while the sun overhead is still a bit jarring to stand under so casually, this is at least a situation he has some experience with. albeit, it's far more...vibrant and cheerful, than anything he's used to....but it certainly could be worse.
if anything, it's an opportunity, and he prides himself on taking advantage of nearly every single one offered. this feels far more natural than walking on the fields, and he'll search out someone he deems suitable before approaching with the clack of heels and a disarming smile to accompany it. ]
Pardon me. If you're not otherwise occupied, would you care to dance?
[ as he extends his hand, there's a distinct lack of the leather gloves he normally wears. ]
ii. [ Or perhaps you'll find him by the food and drink table, sticking to the shadows after a bit too much sun exposure. there's notable wariness in his eyes as he eyeballs everything on display, as if in mild disbelief there's this much food just...sitting out here...
considering the only two feasts of sorts he was treated to, he finds himself picking up something with mild caution. a dessert, in particular, with particularly fresh fruits. ones he doesn't seem to recognize, by the furrow of his brow.
...and yet, you can see his eyes light up the moment he actually bites into it, enough that he stops and stares at it like it's the second coming of christ. he would toss the rest of it in his mouth, had he not noticed someone looking, where he promptly pulls it away and looks utterly offended at getting caught showing any kind of childish enjoyment. ]
...And just what are you looking at.
iii. [ and of course, everybody's favorite activity- drinking. or adelis', at least, evidenced by the nigh-empty glass in his hand as he sits off to the side. he's watching the sun dip below the horizon, ignoring the music and chatter for now, but give him a few moments and he'll look up and acknowledge anyone nearby. ]
Grown tired of the dance, or the people? [ for the extroverts or the introverts, whoever chooses to linger. he gives a dismissive wave to the empty seat next to him, idly lifting his glass to his lips once more. ] Sit, then. A good drink warms the blood.
[ judging by the lightest of flushes to his face, that's probably why he's a bit more personable than usual. this is definitely not his first cup. ]

Trahearne has hung around the edges of the crowd for most of the day, but people still find him. He briefly regards Adelis with a tilt of his head before grabbing a drink of his own and settling in nearby. ]
I'm not sure. I think I simply prefer to watch.
no subject
truth be told, he's seen this one out of the corner of his eye while he's been making his rounds, skulking about without much intent to participate. were he not in need of social interaction (partially against his will), he likely would have done the same.
but they're both here now, and adelis merely takes another sip of his whiskey before letting out a soft hum. ]
Even when our dear Goddess is dangling such generous rewards in front of us? Perish the thought. [ she'd probably be sick of his sarcastic shit by now if she could hear it. ] I'll hardly blame you, however. There is only so much one can tolerate when it comes to being jostled about.
no subject
I have done my duty. I'm not sure I can go beyond what's expected of me, however.
[ He has done his dancing. He doesn't want to do more???
He turns to look at Adelis, brow quirked. ]
It sounds as though you've had just enough of this as I have, my friend.
no subject
Well said, as there's no point in overextending for free.
[ he may be a workaholic, but only when there's proper recompense involved. that, and he's held hands with far more people than he's used to in a single day. any more, and someone is going to think he likes getting cozy.
adelis lets out an exasperated noise, letting the liquid in his glass lightly slosh as he gives it a shake. ]
While I've no trouble in putting on a show for a while, this place is far more mirthful than I'm used to. All the cheer and spinning is liable to give me an headache if I keep at it.
no subject
A small smile crosses his face. ]
Luckily, there is plenty of space for people like you and I to sit on the sidelines should we so choose.
[ He is very glad it is not compulsory dancing. ]
Truth told, though, I don't mind the cheer. It's a good reminder that things are relatively peaceful here.
[ This all still feels like a dream sometimes. ]
no subject
that gets a bit of a snort in response, although whether it's a genuine laugh or not remains to be seen. he's in a good enough mood, though, so it's likely the former. ]
Peaceful. Certain I've heard that word more times since I've arrived then I ever have in nigh 20 years.
[ it sounds a bit stilted, strangely- things like 'peace' and 'mercy' sound awkward in his native language, since there's no real words for them. ]
Hells if I know what to make of it. You'd hardly find places giving away anything free to the lowborn, especially...but I'm not going to turn it down, since it's been offered.
[ even though it took him quite a while to take the plunge, like he expected it to be poisoned somehow. ]

I
I'd be honored. [He smiles a bit as he removes one of his gloves, keeping it in hand as he extends the bare one to take Adelis'.] Enjoying the dance?
no subject
Well enough. [ adelis takes the offered hand, no longer somewhat jarred at the odd feeling of the other's skin. he, however, has returned to being somewhat cold. ] I must admit, it's far more lively than I anticipated.
[ still, he looks healthier than last time, since he guides the other man towards the dance floor with a practiced ease. this isn't his first rodeo. ]

[ when he turns, he shifts the grasp of their hands , and reaches a hand to settle it on syrlya's shoulder. he's moreso familiar with ballroom, but if he's cheating because there's a certain choice of slow dance on his card, well...nobody has to know. ]
You'd be hard-pressed to find reasons for jovial celebrations where I hail from...at least, for the lowborn. It's far more...carefree then what I happen to be familiar with.
no subject
Is a 'waltz' a dance you know? It's a human dance I learned years ago that isn't so energetic. Perhaps your people call it something else.
no subject
I'm familiar with it. It's also known as a ballroom dance, since it's mostly used at larger-scale gatherings.
[ not that he's been to many of those, mind you. luckily, there's enough space that they're not too crowded when adelis begins to the lead the taller man. ]
And do your people dance differently?

What in Solyma's name are you doing? [ he won't!!! you ruined it!! ] Keep it up and I'll just throw it out!

I
I don't know this one, though...
[Tentatively, he snakes his hand out from under his cape, fingernails long and pointed. He hesitantly takes the outstretched hand; the lack of gloves nothing he notices, having never seen Adelis before. His nervousness stems from fear of doing something embarrassing.]
no subject
I do, however.
[ adelis grasps the hand that slips into own lightly, only giving the longer nails a quick, sharp glance. his smile doesn't waver, even in the face of the other's hesitance, as he gestures towards the floor with his free hand. ]
If you've no complaints, I can guide you along. I'm well-versed in the steps. [ but, he'd really rather not expend the effort on dragging anyone along, so- ] But while it would be beneficial for both of us, I have no interest in forcing you if you've no interest.
no subject
[Konoe's tail flicks once, whipping the bottom of his cape around. He's both excited and nervous, a twitchy combination, but the music is already settling in and he bounces a little on his feet.]
I don't want to mess up.
[That part's hissed conspiratorially, as if people would laugh at him just for admitting it.]
no subject
I assure you, hardly anybody here is a professional. Nobody will notice a missed step or two.
[ except him! but we're not going to bring that up right now. ]
The spirit of a celebration is to enjoy yourself, is it not?
no subject
I don't know about enjoying ourselves entirely under the circumstances, but... it's a nice celebration.
[He pulls a little on Adelis's hand, the shyness fading and he's more eager to begin as the music continues to sink under his skin.]
Do you have things like this where you come from?
