( having just arrived, Amber is still trying to wrap her head around this place and what it entails. for starters, she finds the bingo card thing absolutely wild. he'll have to forgive her for being a little slow as she wraps her head around all of this, because it's so crazy!

but here she is, with a guy she's only just met, about to play 20 questions. )

You're sure this works? It just seems so ... weird! Like I can't believe it really happens! You know? But, wow, I sure do have a lot of squares I need to fill in ... wait, did that count as one of my twenty questions too?

[He's less than pleased about the subject of the square in question, but Amber didn't seem to be taking no for an answer. Sitting down and crossing one leg over the other, he nods, shrugging.]

I suppose that is a question, yes. And thusfar I've received a variety of improvements to my living quarters by way of these squares, so it does seem to work. You said your name was Amber? [One for one.]

Nice! ( she says, without following up with a question about his living circumstances. can't be spending those questions loosely! time to focus on something else. )

( it's taken her such a long time to decide which bingo squares she should aim for with Cyno. mostly because she feels embarrassed at the words written on the paper-! but she shouldn't be focusing on those. there are plenty of normal things to do on her card! like painting, and board games, and ...

... well, there's just none of that here right now, is there? Amber continues to walk along the beach with him, while she contemplates everything. it's quiet now, the sun is going down, and there aren't too many people out. )

Thanks for taking a walk with me, Cyno! I have no idea why this bingo card stuff is on my mind so much lately. I'm usually the type of girl who can dive into a problem headfirst! But some of this stuff it's asking me is just ... WAY out of my playing field.

[ He'd say that life's a beach—Cyno also struggles with some squares, even though he's always being forward about fulfilling the tasks. The one he has in mind is stepping outside his comfort zone for sure. ]

I understand you perfectly. [ He stops after saying that and turns to face the sea. This seems like a good spot and it's crucial that no one interrupts them. ] I could say that about most of these tasks, I think.

[ What is making connections with people? He forgot because of all the work. ]

Would you like to go swimming? It's a square we both share.

( she turns around, tilting her head a little bit in confusion. )

I don't think I have a swimming square on my bingo card, last time I checked ... but if you want to go for a swim with me, I'd love that! It's just ... darn. I haven't got a swimsuit. ( this poor sweet summer child hasn't quite understood the implication just yet-- )

( after seeing another Mondstadt lady that she recognises, Amber couldn't resist flagging her down after her hot or not debut on stage. she's excited and a little bit relieved that someone from home is here as well, and above all else, she can't wait to spend some time with Mona. their duties keep them so busy back in Mondstadt, it would be impossible just to meet up like this. )

Mona! Yoohoo! Over here! ( the outrider waves enthusiastically, with a smile. )

It's so good to see you! Thanks again for agreeing to hang out with me. Although to be honest, I'm not all that sure where to go! Do you know what's fun around here?

Hello, Amber. It's nice to see such a friendly face around here.

[ Because Diluc's got Problems and Kaeya's kind of a mess. Thank goodness for the most tolerable (well, more than tolerable) resident of Mondstadt. ]

That depends on what you'd like to do. There's the beach, library, restaurant, an assortment of board games... Even going on a simple stroll sometimes can be nice. We can go back to my place if you'd like, also. I live alone.

[ Her roommate...sure is dead... ]

Wow. I didn't realise this place had so many things! I feel like that makes it hard to choose. Uhhhhh ...

( excuse her as she sort of just ... thinks for a moment. )

You know what? I'd love to see your place! I haven't been in any house apart from my own just yet.

( after a fun day out, Amber couldn't wait to get home and collapse on the sofa. it's been so nice getting to spend time here with friends from back home like Tighnari, Cyno and Mona. there are plenty of unfamiliar faces to her here as well, and she often thinks that she should try and branch out some more. well, she has been talking to strangers, but it couldn't hurt to do more, right?

it seems that it won't be long before she has yet another encounter with someone she hasn't met before: and it's none other than her roommate! when Amber opens the door and spots him, she offers a polite wave and a bright smile. )

Oh, hey! I don't think we've met yet. I'm Amber. I'm your roommate here!

( After an eventful several hours, Mishka had been making peace with the setting and vegetating on the couch. More genuinely, being out had so nearly given him heatstroke, he'd had to reluctantly resign to rest. Years of experience of night without trace of day left him woefully unprepared of the effects of heat and exhaustion beneath the sun's rays.

He seems quite exhausted despite seeming fairly physically fit. So this was the occupant of the other bed, he thinks, when Amber arrives. At a quick glance, she seems like a startlingly cheery girl. He doesn't think he's seen one of those before - not one who wasn't vampiric, he supposes.

He lifts a hand in a friendly wave. )

I'd been wondering when we'd meet. It's a pleasure meeting you, Amber - I go by Mishka. You'll have to forgive me for not rising; my home doesn't have much by the way of sun or heat, but I'll adjust.

( He always adjusts. He pulls himself into a proper sit on the couch, at least, clasping his hands gently together. )

You know, I've never really had a roommate before, nor have I ever really farmed. Would you enjoy a game of 20 questions? It's on my little sheet as a suggestion, and it might be nice to get to know each other better that way.

( His bingo sheet, that is. This is his first encounter with the concept of bingo, but it seems like it's to the benefit of them both if they play it, and he is genuinely curious enough to pick at the brain of this nice-looking girl, so hey. )

Hey, that's okay! It's your living space too, so do whatever you need to make yourself feel comfortable and at home, okay? I've never had a roommate before either, back home in Mondstadt it was just me living on my own!

( she sits herself down on the couch opposite to him, visibly beaming at his suggestion! )

Ooooh! That's a great idea! Let's do that! Would you like to start?

( after her last encounter with Akechi, Amber knew that she wanted to see him again. it would be pointless for her to try and deny the butterflies that dance around in her chest whenever she thinks about him. he's fun to talk to, he's very cute, and he offered to help with bingo squares. 'transactional', as he called it.

while she didn't feel ready to dive headfirst into one of the intimate ones just yet (or so she thinks), they both share another which is civil enough: share a bed. because it's just like a sleepover! right?

well, she's treating it like a sleepover. she's so excited! with her hair tied up in a ponytail, she heads over to his cottage in the late afternoon with some pyjamas, a toothbrush, and any other essentials that may come in handy. once at his place, she knocks on the door before she greets him when he answers. )

Hey there! ( she waves, with one of her usual beaming smiles. ) It's great to see you again!

[Akechi is a bit more on the distant side of this, simply because he's conditioned to be. Nothing good in his life lasts, because he ruins just about everything he touches, something something unwanted child something. So: transactional. Amber had reached out, they talked bingo, she excitedly suggested a sleepover for "share a bed".]

[He hated the idea, but he hated it more with just about anyone else, so he figured his best bet was to find the most tolerable way to make ends' meet and run with it while he could. His bed was large enough for two people, they could make it work.]

[God he hoped she didn't ask about the dazzle camouflage literally everywhere in his house. He didn't want it, but he figured it was Loki's insistence at being included from God Only Knew Where he was. Yet another thing he didn't figure he'd be telling anyone. How could he, without sounding absolutely insane? Maybe that was a means to an end, in and of itself-- if he ever wanted someone to leave him the fuck alone and probably for good, he could just start talking about his bifurcated brain demons and the murders he used them to commit.]

[The sun will be setting soon, but it's like dawn all over again when he opens the door and Amber just beams at him, and he doesn't grimace because two years of schooling his expression for the media and his father were hard to break the habit of, but she's nearly blinding and he's clearly dumbfounded.] I have to wonder where you come up with all this positive energy. Come in, [He steps farther inside, holding the door open for her, because he's polite and that's the chivalrous thing to do, isn't it? To hold the door open for a Lady?]

Heh, beats me! I've always been like this.

( it's not the first time she's had questions about her energy either. her grandfather would frequently tell Amber that she's a rambunctious child, but no matter how hard she tried, she found it very difficult to change. even after his disappearance, she's still full to the brim with life. one can only wonder how she does it. at least now she can put her energy into other things, like exercise and fieldwork with the knights of favonius.

she steps into Akechi's house and allows him to lead the way up to his room, and when she spots the black and white stripey decor, she audibly expresses her amazement. )

Wow! ( she exclaims, looking around with her eyes sparkling. ) Your room is really cool! ( Amber walks up to the bed, just to take a glance at the sheets, before looking back over her shoulder and back to Akechi. respectfully, she has both of her hands behind her back, and the bag of belongings in them. )

Is there a place I can put my stuff? ( and she'll probably put her pyjamas on after. )

( it was super awesome of Gaku to offer her a cooking lesson! archons know that she needs one. no one back home ever said it to her face, but Amber could just tell that the meals she made for the traveller and her friends were less than decent. but she won't dwell on it! after all, that's why she's here! to learn! and get good!

she's taken a few crops from her garden which she has washed and prepared, anticipating Gaku's arrival. she greets him at the door with enthusiasm and leads him to the kitchen so that they can get started. )

Thanks again for doing this for me! You're a real hero. Hey, uh, before we start ... there's something I need to tell you. ( MIGHT AS WELL LET THE CAT OUT OF THE BAG ... ) I'm ... a really bad cook. At least, I would think so! Everything I make at home is just so ... ( she makes a thumbs down gesture and sticks her tongue out. ) Bleh. I'm a little embarrassed when looking back. No one ever said to me, "Wow, Amber! This Outrider Champion Steak is the best thing I've ever eaten! Can I have another!?" ( she sighs. ) And honestly, that's all I want to hear. I'll be a pretty terrible partner to someone if I can't cook for them, won't I?

So today, I am giving you my full attention. I will learn to cook something decent, no matter what!

[ Gaku has brought a few of his own ingredients to use as well, just in case she didn't have everything just yet. After all, he's had a lot longer than her to get settled. As he walks in, he takes stock of the crops she's prepped. ]

[ He sets his bag down on the counter, pulling out different ingredients. ]

( she's delighted to see they're well prepared! but, hmm ... now that's a question and a half. )

U-Uh! ... Umm ... something ... easy? Is that cheating?

( Amber doesn't remember a whole lot from last night. after around thirteen shots of liquor, who can blame her? she's a very petite woman and getting absolutely blotto after the wild & crazy drinking game was an unavoidable outcome.

she's been feeling pretty anxious all morning. for starters, she feels as though she has a lot of apologies to make. the night is a bit of a blur - but some details have come to light, ones that make her want to hide in her bedroom and never come back out. as a child, she always got into trouble for being too outgoing and high-energy ... fearing that she's been diving back into old habits has made her feel pretty insecure this morning.

inevitably, she's hungover, but she's been nursing her hangover with coffee and water. she recalls an exchange with Diluc, and something about the Fatui...? but from all of the alcohol, it's hard to pick out which parts of the night were true. it seems that she's bound to get her answers as she hears a knock on the door.

despite the drunken state she was in last night, she does look a lot better today, albeit hungover with a few hair strands out of place. there's definitely nothing that a super long bath can't fix - an aroma of floral perfume notes can be detected on her skin. dressed only in her pyjamas, she walks over to answer it, blushing a little in surprise when she sees him. )

Diluc! Hi ... I'm sorry that I'm not dressed. Would you like to come in? ( she holds the door open and allows him to step inside. ) I made a whole pot of coffee if you'd like a cup.

[...She's blushing? She's blushing?? Diluc struggles not to choke on his tongue when Amber answers the door in her pajamas, and sure! She's not much more scantily clad than usual, but pajamas are intimate attire. It's hard not to stutter while he smoothly directs his eyes elsewhere, coughing into his fist.]

Ah... Yes, good morning, Amber. I apologize if I caught you at a bad time.

[He's seen her naked, writhing beneath him, so why is it so hard to look at her now...? No, that's precisely why. Diluc shakes his head as if doing so might rid him of some embarrassment. Last night sure did happen, didn't it?]

Well, I suppose I can't let your efforts go to waste. I'll join you for a cup.

( it sure did happen. and all she can do is smile and push out a gentle, airy laugh of delight when he agrees. although the circumstances aren't exactly cheery, just seeing him has put a smile on her face. )

Don't worry, you didn't catch me at a bad time at all. Apart from, uh ... me looking like a bit of a mess. ( Amber scratches the back of her head bashfully. ) No one to blame apart from myself, though ... I did drink all those shots. I guess I kind of forgot that I'm not all that resistant to alcohol ... you definitely have the right idea by drinking grape juice.

Anyway, please come in. ( she guides him into the kitchen - Mishka isn't home at the moment, and everything is spotless. the only disturbance on the tabletop is the presence of Amber's used mug and the coffee jug. don't mind her as she quickly hops up onto the counter in order to access the mug cupboard to bring one out for Diluc. who made these things so high up anyway?!

once she hops down, she takes it over to the table and pours him some, before taking a seat at the opposite end of the table to him. instantly, the woman rests her head in one of her hands while she peers at Diluc with her brows knitted as she buries her hand in her long brown hair. )

Hey, uh ... I'm really sorry if I said or did anything embarrassing last night. I really shouldn't have kept playing that game. ( she rubs her temples. ) My mind's a bit fuzzy, but I know there's something important that I need closure on.

Is ... is it true that Childe is a member of the Fatui?

( after a VERY eventful night, Amber never felt more ready to go home than she did upon hearing Mishka's suggestion. he's an angel for offering to bring her back to their farmhouse since she's pretty dang drunk. she's sobered up a tiny bit - certainly more than the middle of the day when she first started drinking, but she's definitely still drunk.

once they reach the house, she immediately beelines towards the sink and pours herself a glass of water, which she chugs. )

Ahh! ( the outrider exhales in relief after taking a drink. she leans back against the kitchen counter, gazing over at Mishka with a half-lidded hazy look. )

'Kay. I'm good now. I needed that ... ( she hops off the counter and places one of her hands on his shoulder, wobbling a little. ) Now I need something else. So I'm gonna ( hic ) go do some private lady stuff in my room. ( lmao WHAT COULD SHE POSSIBLY MEAN BY THIS, HM... )

( Mishka, for his part, is a little sobered up, but not that much; he had taken in a good bit of alcohol, and he's never in his life needed to build up tolerance. His sobering allows him enough autonomy to walk about and be a rascal— which is, really, all he needs after the eventfully strange afternoon he'd had.

Amber, even while drunk, is animated; a trait he finds always endearing. A smile with a bit of mischief behind it curls his lips, when she blithely hangs up her no Mishkas allowed sign in her drunken state, endearing as ever. )

Private, hm?

( He slips a hand around her waist, stepping forward with her, against a wall, as he leans into her, and takes that hand on his shoulder in his. )

And leave me out of the fun?

( Amber lets out a warbled squeak when she feels her housemate slip a hand around her waist. Uh. What is happening???? And now he's leaning in suddenly...? Fuck. She's already worked up into a frenzy, and here he is, making it worse. Again. )

I, well, uh ... ( She tilts her head away in an embarrassed gesture, squeezing her eyes shut. ) I mean ... it's kind of your fault I'm in this state to begin with...! ( But there are no rejections for his advances on her part - her posture fails slightly when she rests limp against the wall, silently craving his lips on her neck all over again. But will she vocalise this? Absolutely not. (Not yet anyway.) )
